Sonia smirked as she headed back to her room.
Neither of the mercenaries or private investigators that were sent to track down her “missing” brothers were successful after years of searching.
She frowned slightly, wondering if her brothers were hurt or worse. “They’re okay; they’re just in hiding.” She told herself. “Sonic wanted to live a carefree sorta nomadic life, that’s why he’s hard to find. Manic… eh, he’s hiding out somewhere. Probably looks completely different now since he’s not under any dress and conduct codes.”
She smiled again as she closed the door, giggling softly.
Her plan was now foolproof. Since no one could track down Sonic and Manic or had figured out she had sent them away (or rather helped them run away), she would be the heir to the throne.
The only thing that would ruin her plans was if Sonic and/or Manic returned to Mobotropolis and the royal counselors appointed one of them king. Sure, they could try to abdicate the throne, but it was a lengthy process and they’d still have to rule for a little while until the monarchy was handed over to the next heir (which would be their sons if they had any and the abdication process would repeat itself until they ran out of heirs).
That didn’t seem likely, however. Sonia was certain they’d avoid the country like the plague just to avoid this situation, which was something both brothers knew full well about.
“They’ll be proclaimed dead at some point.” She thought. “Even if they come back after that point, the throne will still be mine.”
She flopped back onto her bed. “Now, all I have to do is talk to Dad about letting me marry Shadow.” She said to herself.

Manic and Surge gathered in Sonic and Sally’s living room to see the latter couple’s three day old twin boy (River) and girl (Lola).
Manic held Lola. “Aww, she’s so cute.”
“Takes after me.” Sonic said, smirking.
Sally rolled her eyes. “You’re so modest, Sonic.” She replied. She handed Sonic their baby boy River. “Here; Riv needs his diaper changed; he doesn’t try to kick you.”
“Trying to run already, huh?” Manic asked.
Sonic laughed. “Oh, yeah.” He said, getting up. He carried River to the nursery. “C’mon, let’s get your diaper changed.”
“So how was your honeymoon?” Sally asked. “Where’d you go?”
“Emerald island.” Manic replied. “Wanted to show her Mobodoon, but can’t exactly hide there.”
“I keep telling him they won’t recognize him.” Surge said, motioning to Manic’s piercings, tattoos, and dyed spines. “He doesn’t look like a prince anymore.”
“Still don’t want to risk it right now.” Manic replied. “They may try to annul our marriage if they catch us. Anyway, Emerald island is pretty cool.”
“We did some surfing, had this nice house by the beach.” Surge said. “I’d go back there again.”
“Glad you had fun.” Sally replied.
Sonic walked back in with River.
Manic handed Lola to Sally. “We’ll let you and Sonic rest.” He said. “Call us if you need us to babysit.”
“Sure, bro.” Sonic replied. “Thanks for stopping by.”
Surge and Manic left the house.
