Sonia and Manic, along with their families, gathered at Sonic’s house for a barbecue.

Sally glanced out the window. “It’s raining.”

“No problem, we can cook inside.” Sonic said.

Sonic and Sally’s twins, River and Lola, groaned.

“I know you want to run outside, but it gives you a chance to see your aunt Sonia, uncle Manic, and I on our old tv show.” Sonic said.

“It’s on dvd or something now?” Manic asked.

Sonic raced to the living room and picked up the dvd off of his shelf. “Just bought it.”

The kids hurried over to Sonic and looked at the dvd.

Glitch pointed at the dvd box. “That’s dad?”

“Yep, when he was seventeen.” Sonic said.

“He looks weird without his piercings and tattoos.” Cyber replied.

“Mom’s still pretty.” Maria said.

“Aww.” Sonia said, smiling.

“But the outfits.” Glitch said.

“I hated it too, Glitch.” Manic replied. “Especially that stupid fanny pack.”

“Alright, let me put the dvd on and you can watch it while you wait for dinner.” Sonic said, putting the dvd into the Blu-ray player.

The kids settled onto the floor as the show started.

Sonic joined the others in the kitchen.

“I forgot Ma is in the show.” Manic said. “I hadn’t been able to watch it since she died.”

“Me either.” Sonia said.

“Unc’s in it too.” Sonic replied. “I have a hard time watching it too, but I thought it would be cool to show it to the kids.”

“Dad, you’re a thief?” Cyber asked.

Manic groaned. “No, I just pretended to be one.”

“Aw, man.” Cyber groaned.

Manic stood there, wide eyed. “Oh… Kay….”

“Don’t look at us, we don’t teach her that any of the villain type stuff Manic and I did for our

parts are okay in real life.” Surge said.

Shadow and Surge glanced at the tv.

“Go watch it.” Manic said. “I know you haven’t seen it, babe.”

Shadow shook his head. “Saw it, could be better.”

Surge shrugged and walked into the living room.

“I thought you liked the show.” Sonia said, looking at Shadow.

“Because you’re in it.” Shadow replied. “It had potential, but it suffered from the problems other shows of that era faced.”

“That I agree with.” Manic said.

Sally glanced at Sonic. “Alright, make the chili, hon.”

Sonic stepped over. “Alright, I got this.”

After dinner, Sonic and his siblings settled in to watch the show.

Surge, Shadow, and Sally took the kids outside since it stopped raining.

Manic sighed. “I miss Ma.”

Sonia wiped her eyes. “Oh, she’s so beautiful.”

Sonic nodded. “She was great.”

Manic motioned to the tv. “At least we knew her and had her for about eighteen years.” He said. “On the show, we didn’t get to grow up with her.”

Sonia slumped in her seat. “The show’s premise is a whole lot sadder when you think about it.”

“That and the real life subtext.” Manic muttered.

Sonic touched Sonia and Manic’s shoulders. “At least we’re back together again.”

Sonia sat up straighter. “That’s true.”

Manic hugged his siblings.

“Love you too, bro.” Sonic and Sonia said.
