I will be addressing Zorg and Zab at the next Clan Gathering, which is years away. For now, think of Zorg as the bomb under the table. Knowledge of the imperius Curse has escaped into the wild. In the previous timeline, Luna had erased all knowledge for the unforgivables from her books. Knowing something can be done, made it possible for Groob to figure out how to do it.

Chapter 66: Clancreb

“We can not afford to have the entire Clan go into mating isolation,” signed Creb. “It is too early in the Spring. We need to go on a hunt and then the women need to gather plant foods for us. So we will act as if we already mated in the new matings, but will not have the mating ceremonies until next winter begins.”

“Who will perform the matings?” Droov signed. “Who will perform the ceremony making you Leader? Will you be both Leader and mog-ur?”

“This man will hold the titles of both Leader and Mog-Ur for now,” signed Creb. “This Mog-Ur will take Iga’s son, Lun as his acolyte and start training him to be mog-ur of this Clan. However, there are already three other mog-urs in this Clan. Everyone calls the clanlunae: female mog-urs. So, this Mog-Ur has trained the clanlunae in secret all they needed to know to be mog-urs. From now on, Iga will perform most ceremonies that a mog-ur would perform for a Clan. This Mog-Ur will lead the men’s ceremonies and other ceremonies that Iga can not. We she is prepared, this man would like her to perform the ceremony marking this man becoming Leader of this Clan.”

The members of the Can looked around at each other in surprise.

“This mog-ur shall be prepared soon,” signed Iga. “But this woman requires the assistance of the other clanunae: Ayla and Uba and the acolyte, Lun.”

When Iga stepped away from the Clan, the named people followed her. Iga told them what she needed. Ayla then went to Groob’s old hearth, which would now be Creb’s, to get some cleansing herbs and a furs to dry off with. Uba and Lun went to Creb’s old hearth to get the things Iga would need for the ceremony.
They all met down by the river, where they all removed their wraps and used Ayla’s cleansing herbs to purify themselves. Once they were clean and had used furs brought by Ayla to dry themselves. They then got dressed. Iga and Ayla put on some of the cloth dresses that Luna had packed and Harr had brought back from the future. They had warming charms on them so the were as warm as fur wraps would be. Uba wore a leather dress she had made, based on Mariza’s designs in that other life. Lun wore a new wrap that had never been used before. Iga then, pulled over herself, the cave bear skin cloak that Creb used for rituals, as Mog-Ur.

“Creb taught us how to do his trick where he remains unnoticed until he appears at the ceremony,” sighed Uba. “But this Weech thought it would be more dramatic if we were transparent as we sneak up on the Clan.”

Uba then tapped each of them on the head with her wand and they felt a sensation like an egg had been cracked on their heads and ran down their bodies as they turned transparent. It was not a invisible as Harr’s cloak. But it made them very difficult to see. The group then started sneaking up towards the Clan. Iga led with Uba and Ayla to her sides and slightly behind. Luna followed up in the rear.

When they were standing in the middle of the of the Clan when Uba dropped the spell and they suddenly appeared before the Clan.

“Oh mighty Ursus, Great Cave Bear, mightiest of all the totems, this mog-ur humbly asks your blessing on this Clan and on this man who has been chosen by this Clan as its’ Leader.” Iga signed.

She stepped closer to Creb.

“Creb, do you promise to to Lead this Clan with wisdom and not selfishness, put the Clan’s needs before you own?”

Creb nodded his agreement.

“Then this mog-ur names you Creb, Leader of Creb’s Clan,” signed Iga, as she placed her hands on his shoulders.

Then, each member of the Clan came forward and signed:

“This wo/man greets the Leader.”

Once the ceremony was accomplished, Creb addressed the Clan:

“Some are you are wondering if we will stay here after what has happened here. We will let the spirits decide. We shall have a hunt. If the hunt is successful, we will stay here.”

And so, Harr mounted the Nimbus broom and started scouting for game. Soon he returned.

“This man has seen a herd of bison over that direction, near the place they use to cross the river,” signed Harr. “They are approaching the river.”

“Thonlan, you will lead this hunt,” signed Creb. “Who will you bring?”

“Creb the Leader, Uba, Harr, Ayla, Lun, and this man,” signed Thonlan. ‘Droov and Brun will protect the women and their mates will watch over the children.”

“How will we hunt them?” signed Creb.

“We will arrange ourselves along the bank,” signed Thonlan. “When they are midway through crossing the river, we will will shoot them with slings, bows and thrown spears. Uba, Harr, you and I will also bring our Clan spears in case something goes wrong.”

“That is a good plan,” signed Creb. “But we need to hunt the ones who have already crossed, not the ones in the middle of the river.”

The hunters proceeded to the river and and arranged themselves behind bushes on the bank on one side of the ford. Soon, the herd approached. Uba notched an arrow in her longbow, Ayla had a stone in the pouch of her sling and another in her hand. Creb had the ends of his sling in his teeth and a stone in the pouch of his sling. Gaining the magical arm could not change his habit of using his sling one handed. Harr, had his wand in hand. Thonlan had a throwing spear in had and another stuck in the ground, to throw after the first one. Lun was not yet a Hunter. But he would be having his manhood hunt next year. So he was placed further away and even higher up in a hiding place between rocks where he could watch the hunt.

The bison started to cross the river. When they were halfway across, Thonlan popped up to a standing position and threw his spear at one of the bison that was stepping out of the water. This was the signal to the rest of the Clan. They also stood up and attacked.

KRACK!
KRACK! KRACK!
Creb and Ayla, stones killed two of the bison, shooting them through the head.

Uba’s first arrow passed through the heart of another.

But the one Thonlan hit was only wounded. And now it was charging at them!

Uba shot an arrow that bounced off it’s skull.

Harr cast a cutting curse that wounded it worse, but was not stopping the charge.

It was almost upon her. Uba dropped her longbow and picked up her clan spear. She stuck the butt end in the ground to brace it and apparated away as the bison skewered itself on her Clan spear.

Pop!

Uba appeared behind the now dead bison.

“Stop!” Thonlan shouted.

They had four bison. That would be enough. The rest of the herd continued across the river and fled.

Once the had made the kills, Creb cut out the hearts of their prey and buried them where they fell. He then offered each of the hunters a piece of the liver of the second one that Uba killed.

Then, Harr, Creb, Uba and Ayla, each levitated an animal and they carried it back to the cave. Using magic to shrink it or port-key it would give the meat a strange taste. Once they were back at the cave, a flaying charm would removed the skin and cutting curses could butcher it into thin strips. But the actual drying had to be done in front of a fire, the Clan way. This was women’s work. But Harr and Thonlan, not being bound by Clan memories were able to help.

KRACK! KRACK!

Ayla killed another wolverine that was trying to steal some of the drying meat.

“This woman is surprised you didn’t mention Luna during the leadership ceremony,” signed Ayla. “Or that you called yourself mog-ur, and not Clanluna.”

“Everyone in the Clan knows how this Clanluna feels about Uba’s true self,” signed Iga. “There was no need to mention it. Also, this woman was acting as female mog-ur for the Clan, not herself. Calling on Ursus, not Luna was comforting for the older members of our Clan.”

That night, Creb led the Men’s ceremony while Ayla led the women’s ceremony.

Two days later, after the morning meal, Creb noticed Uba changing into a smaller than usual wrap and dying her soles red.

“Who are you going to redfoot?” Creb signed.

“Iga’s son, Lun,” signed Uba. ‘He will soon be a man. So this clanluna needs to teach him how to be a good mate.”

“Enjoy yourself,” signed Creb.

“It’s his first lesson,” signed Uba. “It will not be very enjoyable for either of us. But this woman would like it if her mate gave her the Signal when she returns.”

That being said, Uba stalked towards Thonlan’s hearth, using her sexiest redfoot walk.
