Chapter 18
Our Family

*Last time...
Kagome looked at Sesshomaru and said,

"Sesshy-kun, are we still going to go see my family today?"

"Of course, we will leave whenever you're ready, love."

"Well, if you don't mind I want to get some of my things packed up to take with us."

"Very well, my love, would you like some assistance?"

"No, I think I can manage."

Kagome leaned over the table and placed a soft kiss on Sesshomaru's lips.

"I Love you Sesshy-kun."

"Jakken, we are going to the Village outside of InuYasha's Forest, meet us there.

"Yes, Milord."

After saying their good bye's to InuYasha and his gang, Sesshomaru, Kagome and Rin mounted Ah-Un, and took off into the sky. It was later than she thought.

Rin leaned forward a little, holding tightly to Ah-Un's reins and turned her head to observe the arguing couple.

Kagome and Sesshomaru immediately stopped arguing and looked at Rin. (since they heard her thoughts) The shock on their faces was priceless, so priceless that it caused Rin to almost fall over from laughter (which would have been bad since they were like 100-200 feet up in the air). Sesshomaru and Kagome then looked at each other realizing how foolish their bantering must have sounded to an 11 year old, they too began to laugh. When all was said and done, all 3 of them sat on Ah-Un quietly contemplating the beauty of life (well at least one of them was thinking of the beauty of life)

{He didn't answer my question! Does this mean that he has had sex with hundreds of female demons? Well of course he has! He is over 200 years old! What did I expect that he was going to be a virgin, just like I was? Yeah right}

Sesshomaru landed Ah-Un on the outside of the village, just at the edge of InuYasha's forest as to not arouse fear from the villagers.

"Rin, go to Kaede's hut and wait there for us, we will join you in an hour."

Rin turned around waved and ran off to Kaede's hut.

Sesshomaru stood at the edge of the forest watching Rin run towards Kaede's village to ensure her safety. Once he was sure that she was gone and safe, Sesshomaru turned around only to realize that Kagome was no longer standing next to Ah-Un.

"What has happened? I sensed no danger."

Sesshomaru sniffed the air and found Kagome's scent. He turned towards the direction she went and followed her scent. He found her sitting near a brook; water so clear you could see the rocks and the fish swimming at the bottom.
Sesshomaru walked towards his mate and sat down behind her, pulling her into his embrace.

"What is it my koi? Are you upset?"

"No, I was just waiting for you."

Sesshomaru gently swiped Kagome's hair out of the way and began to kiss her on the back of the neck, taking a deep breath through his nose, inhaling the scent that was her, Sesshomaru growled, Kagome's scent wafting all around him, making him drunk with arousal. Shippou puffed out his chest and jumped from Kagome's arms; he walked up to the Lord of the Western Lands and came face to face with, well with Sesshomaru's shins. Shippou lifted his head up and glared at InuYasha's half brother and yelled,

Sesshomaru looked down at the little kit, smiling on the inside and smirked but acting as if he was upset.

"You dare, talk to this Sesshomaru that way? You ungrateful little runt, I should skin you alive!"

"SESSHY-KUN! DON'T SCARE HIM!"

(Sesshy-kun? What's that about?) thought Shippou

"He is being rude and should be taught some manners."

"EEEK! MAMA! InuYasha's brother is scaring me!"

"While you were gone and visiting Souten, a lot has happened."

"Shippou, there's more."

"There is?"

"The whole time I was staying with Lord Sesshomaru, I had a lot of time to heal, I realized that I didn't really love InuYasha the way I thought I did. I realized that he was nothing more to me than a best friend. A best friend that you had a crush on when you're a human child and think that if you couldn't have them, you were going to die and soon...I realized that the love I had for InuYasha, was a childhood crush. Just a crush nothing more, it took me awhile to figure it out, in fact I realized that when I was wounded, but it was too late. Then when Sesshy-kun saved me, I drowned myself in self pity, forgetting, just briefly, that it was nothing more than the crush, do you understand what I am saying?"

Kagome laughed and said,

"Let me rephrase that, I don't love InuYasha, I'm in love with his brother, Sesshomaru."

"WHAT?????"

"Shippou please, let me explain the rest to you before you get too upset."

"ok." Shippou looked down at the ground, trying hard not to think negative thoughts about his mama's sanity.

"Sesshomaru saved my life Shippou. I was dead and he brought me back...please save the question's for when I am through explaining myself. I know I seem crazy to you..."

{Yup}

(I heard that) Kagome thought to herself.

"He saved my life in more ways than one. He saved me from....myself."

Kagome's began to tear up; she tried as hard as she could to hold back the tears. She wasn't sad because of InuYasha, she was sad because of what she had done to herself.

"What do you mean okaasan?"

The pressure in her chest was too much; Kagome began to cry, upset with herself, for showing her weakness to her little kit. She collapsed on her knees and let the tears flow freely.

Sesshomaru felt his mates aura suddenly change, he could feel her sadness wafting off of her, he walked towards his mate, ready to comfort her the best way he could, but stopped half way there when he saw her kit put his tiny little hands on Kagome's face, one on each cheek. He rubbed his hands on her cheeks and wiped away her tears.

"Mama, don't cry. I'm not upset I promise. If Sesshomaru-sama makes you happy, then I am happy for you."

"Oh Shippou!" Kagome took hold of her son's little hands and pulled him into the warmth of her arms, hugging him with all her might.

Sesshomaru walked towards his mate and their kit. He got down on his knees and held mate and son in his arms, taking all of it inside himself.

{A family. That is what we are, my love. A family. But we are missing one.}

{Rin. Let's head back to the village to get her, to make our family complete.}

[10 minutes later....]

Kagome held Shippou in her arms while Sesshomaru had one of his arms wrapped around her waist. Together all 3 walked towards Kaede's village.

"Sesshomaru-sama! Kagome Okaasan! You're back! Rin missed you!"

{Did you hear that Sesshy-kun? Rin called me Okaasan!}

"We missed you too, Rin-chan. Did you have fun while Sesshy-kun and I were gone?"

"Oh Yes! Rin was with Lady Kaede and she taught Rin some more stuff about herbs!"

"Good, because I know I've been slacking on teaching you."

"It's okay Kagome Okaasan, Rin understands, Okaasan and Sesshomaru-sama needed some alone time, Rin does not mind."



Kagome sweat dropped and laughed nervously.

"Rin, find Jakken, we are leaving."

"Hai, Hai! Sesshomaru-sama"

Rin turned in the other way, but before she could take off she was stopped by Sesshomaru.

"Rin" Sesshomaru said, quietly.

"Hai, Sesshomaru-sama?"

"Come here."

Rin walked towards Sesshomaru and stood right in front of him and looked up.

"You may call me 'Otousan' if you wish it."

"Really? Rin has always wanted to call you my Otousan! I really can call you that?"

"Yes, Rin, this Sesshomaru does not mind. Kagome Okaasan is your mother and she is this Sesshomaru's mate, so does that not make this Sesshomaru your Otousan?"

"Hai, Sess...I mean Otousan. Rin is happy!"

Rin leaned into Sesshomaru's readying herself to hug him, but Sesshomaru stepped back, then leaned down and held Rin in his arms as she squeezed him tightly, not wanting to let go of her, Father."

"Rin" whispered Sesshomaru.

"Hai, Otousan?"

"Although this Sesshomaru is an Inu-youkai, we still require air to breath."

Rin loosened her grip and said,

"Gomen Otousan, Rin is just so happy!"

"So is this Sesshomaru...now you may proceed in finding the imp."

"Okay Otousan."

Rin turned away and took off running in the direction of the village.

Sesshomaru watched Rin's form disappear, then turned to his mate and the little kit.

"What is it mate? Why are you crying? Are you hurt?"

"No, koi. These are tears of happiness."

Shippou jumped from Kagome's arms and timidly walked up to Sesshomaru.
"Ano, ano...S-s-Sesshomaru-sama?" Long Pause

"What is it kit?"

"Ano, because Okaasan and Sesshomaru-sama are Rin's parents, does this make Rin my sister?"

"That is correct little one."

"Then....then...doesthatmakeSesshomarusamamyotousan?"

Sesshomaru paused for a brief second, realization finally dawning on him.

"Yes, little one, that makes this Sesshomaru your Otousan...but if you do not wish to call me that, I will not object, it is sorely up to you whether or not you wish to call this Sesshomaru your Otousan."

"I would like that very much....Otousan."

Kagome wept louder, realizing that once in her life, she was happy in this era and nothing was going to stop her from feeling them. She walked to Shippou and picked him up, hugging him as tight as she could (without breaking any ribs) and kissed the top of his head.

"Okaasan! I can't breathe!"

"Oops! Sorry!"
