A moving portrait of grief. I especially liked the reference to Elros--too little is written about him, and what a vast gapfiller Tolkien has left us to invent!Tears of sorrow

Hello, Rhapsody! I thought I remembered seeing your tales at this site. It will take a while, but I will read everything and comment....someone rated this story "boring"....perhaps it's the same person who rated my Celebrimbor drabble "boring"! (see my tales here) Well, everyone's entitled to an opinion.
I like this wee tale as a glimpse of sorrow. It's a good idea to compare Elrond/Celebrian with Gilraen/Arathorn. As an Aragorn writer, I think at once of the influence on him of his two parents (mother and foster father) experiencing this kind of loss.Tears of sorrow

Great piece once again, m'dear! I have to agree with Gandalf's Apprentice... someone certainly has a penchant for running around ficwad saying the drabbles, short pieces, or long-wrought works are "boring". Seeing that both you and Gandalf here are fairly talented writers, I will know which ones are the best of the best now with the "boring" label!
Now for you ficlet...Very little is said about Gilraen in the common books and even in the movies, so it is moving to see the passion and sadness that is at the beginning of poor Aragorn's life by losing his father. However, he luckily has his strong mother who remained there for him and had the stout strength of Elrond and his family. Beautiful as always!
