Litzy attended the signing and the show, then went out to party with the boys and their crew afterwards. It was torture for her to see Davey with Tyler. Every time he touched Davey she wanted to scream. Tyler obviously wasn't too keen on her presence, either. He kept giving her evil looks and specifically trying to keep her as far away from Davey as possible. Around 3:00 AM they went to this 24-hour vegan diner to eat - each member of AFI and their significant other. And her. So she was the only girl at the big circular table. She was seated next to Davey and Tyler was seated across from him. She was tired and nauseous again and she just wanted to sleep, but Davey had dragged her along. He said they had to make the most of their time together.
Everyone was in great spirits, so it was a lively table. The only annoying thing was how Tyler kept fussing over his hair and making all these prissy facial expressions that made her want to smack him. And he kept bragging. He kept using each conversation topic as an excuse to brag to her about somewhere Davey had taken him or something he'd done for him, said to him, or bought for him. It was really starting to give her a headache and wear on her patience. And truthfully, it was making her very jealous. She'd barely had Davey in her life at all for the past two months, she had no desire to hear Tyler wax eloquent about how great their relationship was going.
They were all trying to figure out what to order when Jade came across the Spanish Specialties part of the menu.
"What's a torta?" he asked. "Litzy you speak Spanish. What's in a torta?"
"We'll I've never eaten one but I believe it's like a hamburger. Like it has lettuce, tomatoes and meat. Which in this case, of course, would be soymeat -"
"Speaking of all things Spanish. You know, /Litzy/," Tyler said, sure to get her full attention. "David and I went to Mexico last month and he got me this ceremonial necklace -"
"Really? Nobody cares."
He gave her an indignant look, while Hunter and Adam tried not to giggle. And failed, miserably.
"What a rude thing to say," Tyler said, snootily. "I honestly don't know what Davey sees in you. I mean, I just dont get your 'friendship.'"
"Yeah, we don't either, but it's here to stay so you might as well get used to it and stop trying to compete with me."
"Why would I want to compete with you?"
"I don't know, you must feel like wasting your time. I was here before you arrived and I'll be here long after you've been recalled by The Emo Boy Cloning Company."
Jade put a hand over his mouth in shock, while Hunter and Adam tried not to giggle. And failed, miserably. Again.
"I am not emo," Tyler said, quietly.
"You're emo," Hunter said, unapologetically.
"Well if I'm emo, Davey's emo!" he pouted.
"Nah, Davey's not emo," Jade said, with complete certainty.
Litzy turned to Tyler and cackled evilly. Davey cut her a look. She shrugged and mouthed 'couldn't help it.'
"I see Davey as more like Punk with a healthy dose of Glam," Adam said, thoughtfully.
"Me too," Litzy added. "But I know he hates labels."
"Yes, I do," Davey said. "So can we all just act civilized and order the food? I'm starving."
"Maybe we could, if somebody had taught this little cow some manners," Tyler said, matter-of-factly.
"Cow? So you're trying to say I'm fat?" Litzy asked, turning red.
"No honey," he oozed, condescendingly. "I'm not TRYING to say it, I'm saying it."
Litzy's mouth fell open in shock and offense.
Davey and Jade interjected telling them both that they needed to back off, but they weren't paying them any attention.
"Well I'd rather be fat than stupid like you!" Litzy yelled standing up and staring him down.
"If anyone's stupid it's you - you can't even cut it at work!" he yelled back, standing up to meet her glare. "Isn't that why you're here?"
Her glare was promptly redirected to Davey.
"What have you been telling people?!" she yelled, bug-eyed.
"Nothing! I just said that....you... because...when you called," Davey blabbered, looking like a deer in headlights. "I didn't mean to -"
"Didn't mean to make you sound like a fat stupid loser, but that's what you are!" Tyler said.
"Hey! Stop it! Both of you!" Davey yelled. "Tyler, leave Litzy alone -"
"Oh so I see, you're taking her side?!" he said. "I am so offended right now!"
"No, I'm not taking anybody's side, but you're being...to tell you the truth you're acting like a real dick right now. And you have been all night."
Litzy started laughing. She just couldn't help it. Tyler looked like a reprimanded puppy, and it was just so funny to her.
"Oh shut up, hag," Tyler hissed. "Why don't you take your cottage cheese thighs back to the Windy City and get a life so you can stop tagging along with us?"
"You can make fun of my thighs all you want, but your man was between them," she said, with great relish.
Everybody went dead silent and Litzy was standing there with a smirk on her face. For Tyler, that was all it took, though. His arm shot out at record speed and he smacked her. Davey jumped up to protest, but before anyone could do anything she smacked Tyler right back. Davey grabbed her and pulled her back as Tyler, enraged, tried to scramble across the table and choke her. Adam and Jade held him back, trying to talk him down. Davey marched Litzy back by the bathrooms.
"What is with you two?!"
"He's a fuck and you shouldn't be with him!" she yelled.
"I can't believe you said what you said back there! In front of everyone!"
"I'm sorry," she said, starting to cry. She was worse than Tyler, when Davey was displeased with her she just fell apart.
"Aw honey, don't cry," he said, taking her in his arms.
"I can't help it," she sobbed into his shirt. "There's a lot going on with me that you don't know about."
"So why dont you tell me what's going on with you?" he asked.
"Well.....Well........Well..." she stuttered.
"It cant be that bad. Just tell me."
"Well, after that night in England when we...ya know...I missed my period but was too upset about us and too busy with work to notice...until I puked during my presentation and passed out. And that's how I got this time off. But anyway, my boss suggested I was pregnant so I bought a test and...well....she was right."
He was so quiet she pulled back to look at him. He looked flabbergasted.
"You're really for sure pregnant?" he asked.
She nodded.
"I came out here to tell you, and I'm so sorry it turned out this way, but I know you would've been devastated no matter how you found out -"
"Devastated? Litzy...I am ecstatic."
"What?"
"I never thought I would have a kid and I want that so much."
"You do?"
"Yeah! A little Havok to run around causing trouble and carry on my name. I mean, I used to think that when I found the right person I'd adopt, but it's not the same as having a child that's yours that you conceived with someone you love. And I never expected that would happen for me. Litzy, you made my dream come true."
"I did?"
"You did," he grinned, hugging her tight. "I'm so happy!"
"That's nice. But Davey, I'm not happy."
"You're not?" he asked, pulling back to look at her.
"No. I never wanted to be a single mother. I've always wanted to start a family. In fact, I need that. But I haven't really been able to even try to find it, because for the entire time we've been friends I've been crazy in love with you."
He was so shocked he could only stand there and blink at her.
"I told you one day I would tell you what made me cry on the balcony the night of your birthday. It was the fact that I want you so much and I will never have you. And the sad thing is that I cant settle. I know, I have always known, that it's not fair to compare other guys to you, but I do. I always do. And they never measure up. So here I am, 28 years old, no chance in hell of ever finding love. And now I'm pregnant. Why would I be happy about that?"
He still looked overwhelmed, but then he seemed to snap out of it.
"Litzy, everything is going to be alright, I promise you."
"How?"
"I dont know. But we'll figure it out. It's been a long crazy day, you're tired and upset, of course everything seems hopeless now. But its not. Let's just go back to the hotel and get some sleep. Then tomorrow we can work things out."
She nodded.
He kissed her forehead.
"You're not alone in this," he said, softly. "I'm gonna take care of you and my son."
She laughed a little. "How do you know it's a boy?"
"I just know. Trust me."
"Okay, well we'll see," she laughed, then went serious. "What about Tyler?"
"I need some time away from Tyler. He's not going to like that, but that's just how it is."
