'I can't believe I'm bloody doing this,' Giles thought to himself. 'And all because that damn message popped up on my screen. What the bloody hell am I thinking. Just didn't want to get Jenny anymore involved than she already is. Perhaps she could have traced the bloody message.'
He shown the flashlight around. The librarian had managed to break into the file storage area of the hospital. It was a dark and dry place almost like a desert. It was like they wanted to preserve everything for a million years. Which could very well be a good thing if he could uncover what he was looking for.
Giles had been in the basement most of the night. The filing system was confusing, to say the least. And he should know, he was after all a librarian. Finally, he came across the records he had been so hoping that he would find.
Sarah Maclay. The mother of one Tara Maclay. He flashed his light on it trying to make sense of what it said. Even though he had some knowledge, he still was a layman when it came to medial terminology. It would probably be best if he just took all the records home with him. He could have help there and perhaps not get caught.
That's when he heard a sound. He quickly turned off his flashlight and shoved the folder into his jacket. The sound of shuffling feet came his way. Quickly, he hid behind the many file cabinets even though it was a tight squeeze. He saw the guy. And thought that he recognized him. And he definitely wasn't on the hospital security staff.
This guy had a reputation. And that reputation could lead to a world of hurt for Giles. And he rarely worked alone. It was time to get out of the there. And get out of there as fast as he could so that he could hopefully remain in one piece. After making sure the guy was long gone, he made his way as quickly and quietly as he could.
He was careful not to run into any of the cabinets. And it was dark so the going was rather difficult. Finally, he made it to the basement doors. But before he could open them, someone had opened them for him.

Willow woke up and looked around her. She could feel a wonderful presence at her side. She looked at the sleeping blond. The girl that she had loved now for so long. And that the two had gone through so much since.
Even though she would be doing a lot of physical therapy, she could not wait for the Christmas break that was coming up. That would mean that Tara would not have to miss school to spend time with her. And she herself wouldn't miss anymore school.
Getting behind was something she didn't like. But that was all right. She could catch up in no time. And all her teacher's had been great.
She closed her eyes just enjoying the feeling of the warmth of the blond next to her. The redhead wanted nothing more than to always be wrapped up in her arms. That would be a dream come true. A wonderful fairytale dream.
That's when a nurse walked in, shattering the fairytale. Why did someone or something always have to shatter those fairytales? "Miss Rosenberg. How are we doing today?" She asked while looking at a chart. When she looked up, she saw Tara still in bed with the redhead. "What's going on?"
Willow smiled sheepishly. "She came early this morning and fell asleep. We know it's against the rules, but she's got to go to school later. I'm sorry to have broken them."
The nurse smiled big. "You know, if it were up to me, I'd let her stay with you all the time. But it's not up to me. So, I'm afraid that she's going to have to leave. Besides, I have to give you your shots and take your vitals. So.."
"I understand." Willow smiled sadly. It had been so nice to be with her girl like this. And to have someone understand. Most on the hospital staff didn't like Tara hanging around. Perhaps one day the two could be together without anything getting in their way. "Tara, sweetie." Willow brushed her hand against the blond's cheek. "Baby?" That's when she noticed that her girl was barely breathing. And that her skin felt rather cold. "Tara!" Now she was getting excited.
"What's wrong?" The nurse quickly made her way over to the sleeping blond. She took her wrist in her own. "Oh my!" She pushed the button for the nurses station. "I need some assistance in Room 332. No not Rosenberg. Her friend is here. And she's not doing so well."
Willow's eyes widened as a gurney was quickly brought in. A doctor and three other nurses made their way in. They quickly got Tara onto the gurney. The redhead watched in horror as they did all sorts of administrations to her girlfriend. Her voice would not come even though she wanted to ask what was going on. Instead, she just lay there and watched.
"I don't understand this." The doctor had asked for some type of injection. "That should have worked instantly. I can't understand what's made her slip into a coma."
"Coma?" Willow squeaked out. The nurse that had come in and been so nice tried to smile at her. But the redhead wasn't stupid. Her girl was in trouble. What the hell was going on?

It was early. Way too early to be up. At least for a certain dark haired girl it was. But she hadn't been sleeping well. Not since Oz had been away she hadn't. So now, she sat on the front porch wrapped up in a blanket. Her brother was gone. He was having a breakfast date with Fred before they both went to work at the school. And that's really where she should be heading. School. That horrible place.
But Faith just didn't seem to have the motivation at the moment. Her thoughts weren't just on Oz. Although those were the ones that kept her going at the moment. No, she was also thinking about Willow. The girl had been through so much. And now, she was in the hospital. She'd be lucky to get out just in time for the holidays. What luck.
She closed her eyes as she thought back. Her growing up had never been happy. Wesley and her had been close. And they had clung to each other for survival. But there was a time when she had been happy.
And that time was all due to a certain redhead. The girl would do anything for her friends just to make them happy. And even though Faith had been just a bit of a rebel back than, Willow didn't care. She just wanted to see her happy.
She also remembered Xander. Her cousin was a wacky sort of guy. And she remembered him telling her about the crush that he had had on the redhead. And the redhead confiding that fact in her. But that had been when they were so young. And look at them now. It was so funny.
At least everyone seemed to have someone at the moment. Tara was sticking like glue to Willow. And who could blame her. The girl had been through so much. Anya and Xander were still tight. Her brother had Fred. Angel and Darla had gotten together. And in the shock category was Cordelia and Doyle. Even Giles and Miss Calendar were a hot item. And thankfully Buffy and Spike had made up and were back together.
That left just her without a honey. Well, she had one. But he was off with his band. And that made for some lonely times. The hospital only helped so much. Cause in the end it was just a little depressy.
"Don't be catching a cold on me." Faith's eyes shot open at the familiar voice. "Wouldn't want my girl sick." Oz smiled. His hair was back to being the red that Faith loved so much.
"Oz!" She quickly got up and engulfed him in a hug. And kisses where being planted over every square inch of his exposed skin. "I missed you baby."
"Couldn't tell by the greeting." He gently took her face in his hands. He leaned in for a long and passionate kiss. "Been that bad without me?"
"Oh don't even go there." Faith smiled at him. "You know that it was driving me nuts. I can't stand to be away from you. You best not be doing that again to me mister."
"Definitely not." He leaned in for another long and passionate kiss. "School?"
Faith shook her head. "Yeah, we better go. You've missed enough already." That's when her cell phone rang. "Damn!" That's all she said as she hung up. "We gotta go. And guess where."

Spike pulled the motorcycle up to the curb in front of Buffy's house. He was surprised to see Angel pull up next to him in his convertible. "And what is big brother doing here?"
"Darla lives there." He pointed to two houses down. "I'm giving her a ride to school. I assume that's what little brother is up to? Only with his girl."
Spike smiled. "You so know it. And I'm gonna have that talk with her after school."]
"Good. I'm telling you she'll be able to handle this." Angel looked at his little brother carefully. "She loves you. Don't know why. I personally don't get it. My little brother? What's to love about him?"
Spike laughed. It had never been like this before between the two brothers. They had never been able to joke. Hell, they had barely even been civil to one another. But if there was one good thing that had come out of the Drusilla thing, it was that the two of them were getting along. And that they were now there for each other. "And look at you. What's so hot about you? Darla must really have a generous heart or something to go out with the likes of you."
They both laughed. After the stress of the past couple months and what had happened last night, the laughter felt good. It felt like a release. It was wonderful to say the least. And that's when Darla came walking up.
"Not even gonna pick a girl up at her front door." Darla teased. "What's the world coming to. And to think, it wasn't that long ago that a gentleman held open a door for a lady."
"Yeah, I remember those times as well." All three turned to see Buffy standing by her mailbox. "Men. I think they are regressing into something not so good. Hopefully not cavemen."
Both brothers turned and smiled at one another. They knew how lucky they were to have found these young women. Ones that cared but also could have a good time. They were the two luckiest brothers on earth.
"Well ladies. Even though we didn't meet you at the door, your escorts await you." Spike got off his motorcycle and brought Buffy's helmet to her. He gently kissed her on the cheek before he put it on. In a softer tone he added, "And if it's all right with the lady, I'd like to have a chat with her after school. Before we go to the hospital to see how Red is doing."
"That's fine with me." Buffy put her hand on his chest.
Angel stood holding the passenger door open for Darla. "Please be seated. That way I can escort you in style."
Darla shook her head and smiled. She slowly made her way to the car. Just as she was about to sit down, they heard the squeal of tires. All four looked at the black sedan as it rounded the corner and kept coming at a rather fast speed.
Spike's eyes widened as he was the first to realize what was about to happen. "Everyone, get down!" But it was too late. The car came to a screeching halt. The passenger window was already open and sticking out of it was a machine gun. The noise was deafening as the gun opened fire.
Bullets flew through the air. There was the sound of steel on steel as it hit the car and the motorcycle. And screams as steel found flesh. And than there was blood. And than, there was nothing but darkness.
