It was a week after the horrible shootings and everything had happened at the hospital. Wesley had moved in with Gunn who had indeed gotten the job as a security officer. The two seemed to get along well except when it came to when the two were with Fred. There was definitely a little bit of competition between the two of them concerning the fair maiden.
Today was no exception. It was between classes and Wesley had to retrieve some computer books for Miss Calendar from the library. And he loved doing such tasks because that meant that he could spend some time with his girl.
They were to have a romantic dinner in just a few short days. He had already had things planned out. His little sister had helped him with the details. For even though he could barely afford rent and the tangibles like food and clothing, he had gone out and bought himself an engagement ring.
It was a bold move, he realized. After all, it had only been a few short months since they had known each other. But he felt that it was destiny that they had met. That there was this instant connection between him and this beyond amazing young woman that had instantly stolen his heart.
It was with these thoughts that he entered her domain. And that was the library. Giles was still on family leave with taking care of Willow, so that left Winifred to deal with the daily grind of running the library. Not as an easy task as some would think. But she was smart and strong willed so it was an easy task for her.
He was about to call out when he heard voices. Both that he instantly recognized. They were coming from Giles' office. So, he made his way there. His hand was out to knock, when he heard something that stopped him in his tracks.
"He doesn't have to know." That was Gunn. "It can be like something you don't have to tell him. It will be cool. You'll see, it will all work itself out. It always does."
"But I just don't like this." Fred sighed heavily. It was as if she were a little bit upset at the moment. "I don't like going behind anybody's back, especially not his."
That made Wesley gasp. Fortunately it wasn't loud enough for either of them to hear him. He shrank back away from the door so that neither of them could see him but that he could still hear the conversation they were having.
"He won't know." Gunn sounded so cocky and so sure of himself. It was making Wesley's blood boil. "And it won't hurt him. True, we have to go behind his back. But oh well. I think it will all work itself out in the end."
"I guess." Fred seemed so defeated. "I just don't want him to find out. I think it'll crush him."
That was enough. Wesley slowly staggered out of the library, forgetting about the books that he had been supposed to get. His heart was breaking. The tears formed. The hell with him being a manly man. He was hurt. He was going to let them fall. In private. So, he took off for his apartment. He was done for the day. He was totally done.

Lunchtime had been the habit of being out in the quad. But with all of their friends seemingly in the hospital, things had changed. It had been a quick trip to the hospital. Today was the first day that Faith and Oz were just spending time alone together and they were doing it out in the quad.
Oz had brought a nice lunch for the two of them to share. They sat on the blanket he had packed and looked at the slow moving clouds as they floated effortlessly by. He had his arms wrapped around her just loving the feel of her against him.
And she was doing the same. It seemed that the two of them were the only ones that had been unaffected by the shooting and the events leading up to it. Willow and Tara had been affected the most, followed by Buffy.
So a peaceful day with the person that you loved seemed to be in order for the still newly formed couple. A few months though in high school terms seemed to be forever. And yet, they hadn't gotten past the making out stages.
And that wasn't so bad. Neither of them were were virgins. Both had known physical love before. But never like this. Not where they wanted to take every single moment and treasure it always and forever.
The bell rang, signaling the start of classes. But neither of the two moved. They just continued to lay there in each other's arms never caring if they ever moved again. They just wanted to be with one another.
And they did. For both of them fell asleep even though the air was crisp this time of year. It must have been the feeling of total safety and the warmth of the feeling of love that let them close their eyes and relax so. What a wonderful feeling to have.

Xander was still hooked up to all sorts of monitors and an IV dripped slowly away. He had been through a lot because of his heroics. Thankfully, nothing that would leave a scar of any kind.
The only thing that he was having trouble with at the moment was the fact that Anya had yet again disappeared. It made him wonder. The last time it was because her real father had died and she had had to take care of all of that nasty business that comes with the untimely passing away of a loved one.
Could something like that have happened? He had no idea. So, he leaned his head back and closed his eyes. He was getting sick of being in the hospital. Hospitals seemed so bad. How much time had he already spent in one because of Willow. Now Tara, Buffy, Spike, Darla, and Angel were all in the hospital. When it rained, it poured.
It would be nice if he had someone to talk to. Willow had been allowed out of bed for awhile and had spun around in her wheelchair. Tara was still in serious shape. Apparently the poison, given to a person over a long period of time, could lead to some kind of damage. So, she was possibly going to need a kidney transplant. Luckily, Xander had only been hit with a large dose and would be fine because they got to him so quickly.
There was a little knock on the door. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at the door. A smile was instantly on his face. "You know you don't need to knock. Get over here."
Anya quickly made her way over to the bed. She leaned down and gave him a gentle kiss on the forehead. "I missed you. Sorry I couldn't be here. But there was more family business to take care of. It sucks. And I know I should have said something, but it was sort of an emergency."
"It's all right." Xander took her hand in his own. "You're here now and that's what counts. I'm glad that you are. You know that there is a lot going on, right?"
"Yeah. I heard." Anya shivered at the thought of it. "I just checked with Mrs. Summers. Buffy is now stable thanks to that miracle doctor that they sent for. It's gonna cost a lot of money and she has no insurance. The rest are gonna be fine. Just a matter of healing. Only scars left."
"Well, that's good. Finally some good things happening." Xander brought her hand up and kissed it. "Like having you back here Missy. I wish you'd quit disappearing. Especially at the worst moments in my life."
"Yeah, well." Anya seemed to stare off into space for a moment like she was in deep thought or something was troubling her. She quickly came back to earth. "So, when can I spring you from this joint?"
"Just another night and I'm a free man." Xander sighed heavily. "Although, they say I'm gonna have to still take it easy for a little while."
"That's good." Anya carefully arranged herself next to Xander on the bed. "That just means that I get to take care of you. And I'm going to, no arguments mister. You are mine and I'm gonna take care of you."
"Hmm, you playing nurse maid?" Xander smiled big. "I think that would be something else. Especially if it came complete with a nurses outfit." Anya swatted him playfully and they both burst out laughing.

Willow wasn't really supposed to be out of bed at the moment but she didn't care. She had convinced her uncle that she was all right and just needed to get out of that tiny room that seemed to be turning into a prison cell. Especially since it was keeping her from the person she loved more then anything in the world.
So, she quickly, but carefully, wheeled herself towards the room. The room that she had practically made her home the past week. Since she was now herself almost ready to be released from the hospital, she was going to spend every second with her.
Tara was lying on her side, back to the door when the redhead wheeled herself into the room. It appeared that she was sleeping so she quietly made her way to the side of the bed. She put her hand on the blond's and just watched her.
It wasn't long before the blond rolled over with a smile on her face. "I was hoping it was you."
"You were expecting some hot chick weren't you." Willow smiled big. "I knew you had someone on the side."
Tara laughed. "You know that I only have eyes for you. And as far as I'm concerned, I will only have eyes for you. You are my everything you know. You've got to quit giving me scares."
"Me?" Willow squeezed her hand. "What about you, hot stuff. You're the one that's lying in a hospital bed as well. So you gave me the scare of my life too."
"Sorry." Tara leaned down and gave her a gentle kiss on the lips. "I do love you. And I hate the thought of scaring you in any shape or form." She sighed heavily.
"Why with the sighing?" Willow was now worried about her girl and how she was really feeling.
"I was just wondering what was going to happen now." Ocean blue eyes found emerald green ones. "I mean, Dad is gone but who knows where he ended up. Donny is now in the army and can't really take me in. I know your uncle was letting me stay, but I really don't think he wants his fourteen year old niece living with her fourteen year old girlfriend."
"You see, that's where you're a dummy." Willow smiled sweetly at the look she was given. "You see, Uncle Giles was the first to suggest that you stay with us because of your father. But he also did it because he knows how much I love you and you me. He's not one of these adults that's stuffy, even if he is from England. He's pretty progressive. Does he like the thought of us possibly, well, um, you know." Her cheeks were brighter then her hair. "Even though we haven't yet and I think he knows that but it still isn't the most comfortable of subjects but he knows that we would never and well he knows that we love one another and..."
Rambling was stopped by the gentlest of kisses. "I think I get it now. He cares so much for both of us and just wants to see us happy. And in your condition, it'll be a while before we can act on our love for one another." It was the blond's turn for reddening of the cheeks.
"Hey, I don't care." Willow smiled big. "We have a whole life time ahead of us. Well, as long as there are no more accidents or shootings or poisonings we have a long life ahead of us. Maybe we should rethink this and seize the moment."
Tara smiled at her girlfriend. "I'd love to. But I also know that rushing things isn't a good thing. We have a lifetime ahead of us. And I plan on it being just you and me forever."
"Hmm, that's interesting." Willow again squeezed the blond's hand. "We have the same plan. Guess it goes back to that whole thing where smart minds think alike. And we love each other the same. Yup, definitely meant to be."
