Ethan stared down at the items. They were all things that could get him into deep trouble. Then why would he keep them one would ask? Well, it was more for insurance then anything. It was true that he had done some of the things that he had because of his own selfish reasons. But also because he had been paid.
Who knew that it was so good to be evil? He did. Well, evil was a bit strong. But to be underhanded and sneaky, that was of the good. He could pay back a thousand times what is half brother and father had done to him. And make some money as well. Life was definitely sweet that was for sure.
He made his way over to the balcony of his hotel room. With the money he had been paid and from some of his other schemes, he was quite well off now. And he was now staying in the best hotel that Sunnydale had to offer. It wasn't five star or anything, but it was quite nice. The room service and complimentary massages were enough in themselves.
The view was quite magnificent. He could see almost the whole of the little town of Sunnydale. The lights were twinkling. If he was really looking, he would realize that it was quite beautiful. But then, he wasn't really looking at the sights. No. He was thinking of all that he had worked so hard for and how close he was to achieving the ultimate revenge.
And the best perk of all was soon to come waltzing through the door. Stealing Jenny from his idiot brother was the icing on the cake. She was an amazing woman. Anyone would be lucky to have her. It was too bad that she had fallen for his charms. For he was plain and simply using her. There were no feelings whatsoever for her.
Using and abusing. It's what he was so good at. What life had made him become so good at. And so happy that he had. To be able to hurt people and not let that bother him one bit was a good thing. For he could do the things that he did and not feel one bit of remorse.
The knock on the door startled Ethan a bit. He had forgotten that he had ordered room service. It was just another date with that Jenny. The only reason that he was having anything to do with her was because he wanted to hurt his brother so much. And the perfect way to get to a woman was to whine and dine them.
So, he had ordered the best things from the menu. It was all right. He had money to burn. Almost literally. He opened the door to see Jenny standing there. She was looking stunning as usual. She wore a very expensive silver sequined evening gown that fit her like a glove. Even though Ethan was in this only for the revenge, he couldn't help but admire what stood before him.
"Jenny. How nice." Ethan stepped to the side to let the lovely vision walk in. "You are quite stunning. As always I might add."
"Why thank you." Jenny took a few steps in and turned to look at Ethan. "I'm sorry if I'm early. But I just couldn't help myself. I just had to be with you. I had such a good time the last time. You really do know how to show a girl a good time."
"Why thank you." Ethan made his way in. "You'll have to forgive me but room service has yet to arrive with all the delectable treats. They are being so naughty by running behind. I'm terribly sorry. I wanted it perfect for you."
"That's all right." Jenny slowly made her way to the table. The table that was covered with the things that Ethan didn't want anyone to see. She couldn't help herself. She picked up a couple of the things and knew immediately what it meant. Quickly, she turned and looked at Ethan. A look of horror instantly upon her face. "You?"
Ethan sighed heavily. "I should never have left all that laying about. Well now. What to do. I'm sorry dear but there seems to be only one thing that I can do. You know too much by what little bit you've seen." Jenny screamed as Ethan slowly made his way towards her.

Giles hated to leave the warmth of the bed. Joyce was so warm and so soft and just wonderful to snuggle up against. No, they hadn't made love as of yet. But the two wee offering comfort for one another in a way that two adults could. They were just holding each other for all that their lives are worth.
Dawn was a handful as of late. It was understandable how she was reacting to everything. Willow's upcoming trial had made her the laughing stock of the school. And he knew that she was dealing with something. But she wouldn't tell him what. It didn't help matters that just yesterday that he had been served with papers from Dawn's mother suing for full custody.
And then there was Joyce. And all the things that she still went through. The police were no closer to identifying the young woman that had been killed. And another close to Buffy's description had been found. This one had been beaten badly, but also had been raped before she had been killed. It was not helping with all the fears that Joyce was dealing with.
Carefully, he pulled out of the tight embrace of Joyce. Again, he so hated to leave her comforting arms. But things were too busy in his head as his niece would say. There were just too many thoughts going on. And of course, her trial was a major concern. He'd tried his best to keep her out of trouble, but to no avail.
What was getting to him was the thought of Willow. She had insisted that she was all right but he knew better then that. She had confided in him the note that Tara had left. The one so poorly explaining why she was leaving her. There was no way that he could fathom the young lady leaving so abruptly and in such a poor manner. Especially with all that the two had been through together already.
He quietly made his way to the back door and stepped out onto the back porch. The cool night air hit him and he was instantly revitalized. Sleep had not been coming to him so he might as well be wide awake to think thoughts that needed to be focused on.
Sighing heavily, a thought occurred to him. What in the devil was Ethan doing in town? The last he had heard of his brother, he had been wanted and was on the run from the law. He really didn't think that a man such as Ethan could change that easily. Yet, he had seemed nice enough when he had seen him with Jenny.
The thought of Jenny brought a sad smile to his face. So many things made him sad these days. And thinking of her all alone or even worse with his brother was not something that he wanted in his already busy head.
It was unfortunate that he had moved on with such a wonderful woman as Joyce. But it was also sad to him that Jenny could not find someone that truly cared for her. He wondered what exactly Ethan was up to again. Something just did not feel right. In fact, he was beginning to get worried thinking about his exgirlfriend. Just because they did not see each other anymore did not mean that he did not care.
He resigned right then and there to go see her in the morning. Joyce would understand. He had explained how his brother was and how he treated women. She would understand that he was just doing this because he didn't want his brother hurting another woman. The list was far too long as it was. That was the reason he was doing this, right?

Faith looked at the water. It was still. It was quiet. It was anything but what it was like for her friend Willow. The shattered young redhead sat on a rock and looked across the still waters. Any one would feel sorry for her. She was facing either death or life in prison. And now, the one person she thought that she could count on had left her. And for no real apparent reason.
The normally spunky Faith had no idea what to do. What was a girl to do? What did you do to help someone when they were in that much pain? And she could tell that she had given up on trying to win. That meant that she was confining herself to possibly spending the rest of her life behind bars and all because of the betrayal of the woman that she so loved.
It was taking Faith all she could to do just stand there. She wanted more then anything to find Tara and make her hurt as badly as Willow was right now. There was no one that would cause her that much pain and get away with it. She would see to it that they got what was coming to them. She had done it in the past.
Willow sighed heavily bringing Faith back to the present. It was so not fair. Why was life like this? Why would anything let things like this happen? It made you wonder in life. It made you wonder why good people would do these things to one another. And who was the one that was gonna pay for all of this.
Faith shook her head to clear it. Her hands kept balling into fists. All she wanted to do was to beat the crap out of someone. Or to destroy something. Anything. Just to let all of her frustrations just melt away. But that wasn't a possibility either. She wasn't good at the just standing around and doing nothing thing.
Slowly she made her way over to Willow. "I love her." The words were barely audible as the raven haired girl made her way over to the redhead. "Why?" Every little whisper of a word made Faith's heart break even more and her anger grow even more. "I don't understand." And when she made it to her, tears.
That was too much for Faith. She wrapped Willow up in a hug. "I'm not sure why. But I'm going to find out. If it's the last thing I do. No one messes with you and gets away with it. I made you that promise a long time ago to watch over you no matter what and I'm going to keep my word. I'll cause her pain."
Willow backed out of the brace, a look of sadness and pain on her face. "Don't." She swallowed hard and cleared her throat. She had been crying for so long that it was hard for her to speak at this point. "Please."
Another word that just made Faith's heart melt. She could never not do what Willow asked of her. Some would think that Faith had more then friendship feelings for her. But that wasn't true. It was just this connection that she had felt with her the very first time that they met. And something she treasured.
"Then what?" Faith looked her straight in the eye. "You just let her get away with this? You just let her walk all over you and you not even really know why? I think that you at the very least deserve some kind of explanation. I mean, I'm leaving. So long. Goodbye just does not cut it. Especially in a letter. That's just so low."
Willow shrugged her shoulders. She was just so defeated at this point. She didn't want to face the world. That's why she had come with Faith to their spot. It was one that they had found as kids and would hide from Xander and everyone else. They just seemed to always know how to take care of one another. Such opposite people. Yet, so close to one another.
"I can't just sit here." Faith stood up. "Do you have any idea where she went?" Willow shook her head. "Well, I'll find her. And when I do, she'll have some explaining to do. First thing in the morning I'm leaving. And she better have a damn good explanation for this or else."

Tara was so excited. She felt so badly for the way that she had left Willow but she couldn't miss the opportunity to see her brother. It was rare that he got a three day pass. True, he could have come back to Sunnydale. But the pass was on condition that he didn't go far from the base. So, she had jumped at the chance.
She hoped the letter would be good enough till she could get to a phone. Watching all the cars go by in a flash made her think. How things could so easily change in a flash. She just knew that things could change so quickly. After all, Donny was still lucky to be state side at this point. Most of the surrounding troops had been shipped out.
It wasn't far till she got to the base. And then she could see her brother for the first time in what seemed like years. He had gotten back for her birthday but that was the last time that she had seen him. True, they had talked a few times on the phone but it just wasn't the same as being there in person. Surely, Willow would understand.
The late hour was bothering her a bit. For she would call Willow no matter what but she hated to wake up her girlfriend. She was having enough trouble sleeping as it was. And who could blame her with everything that was going on. Not her. Never would she blame her for anything. And always would she stand by her side.
The slowing of the bus brought her out of her thoughts. The trip had passed faster then she had thought it would. Partly it was the excitement of seeing her brother and partly it was because she couldn't wait to talk to her girlfriend and see how things were going with her. Being a part from her was the biggest drawback.
Tara grabbed her duffle bag as the bus came to a complete stop. Donny was standing there waiting for her as she knew he would be. He grabbed her and pulled her into the biggest bear hug she had ever gotten in her life. Apparently he had missed her as well. Funny because at one time the two wouldn't even have acknowledged that they were siblings let alone be this close.
"Hey lil sis." Donny took her duffle bag from her and they made their way to the car that he had rented for the weekend. "Willow tried calling earlier. She sounded a bit upset. I'm not sure what it was about. Don't worry. Before we do anything else, we'll stop and give your girl a call."
"Thanks." Tara smiled but was now a bit distracted by the thought of Willow calling and sounding upset. "Did she say anything? I mean, I hope she got my letter and that she was all right with it. I mean, I guess I could have stayed around a bit longer. But she wasn't home when I got there and I didn't know when she would be."
Donny took her head under his arm and gave her a nugee. "You worry too much. But then, you always have been a worrier. Don't sweat it. Just remember that she loves you and understands that things do happen."
"I know." They rode in silence to the base. Not that Tara wasn't happy to see Donny but she was now very worried about Willow. The second that they got to his little on base apartment, she picked up the phone. She pulled out the phone card that she carried and dialed. But no one was there. "Hey Willow! It's me! I just got here. Donny looks good. I wish you were here with me but he's only allowed family to visit at this point. Sorry my love. Call me when you get this message. I don't care when it is. I just want to hear your voice." She hung up wondering where her girl could be this time of night.
"She's not there?" Donny brought her a blanket for the spare bed. "That's unusual isn't it? Especially with the terms of her release."
"A little." Tara shrugged. The only other thing she could think of was that Willow was with Faith. Those two were close and she knew that it was a good thing because if anyone would protect Willow besides herself, it was Faith. You didn't want to get Faith mad. The consequences would be of the not good. The not good at all.
