Litzy thought she would've slept peacefully and happily on her first night at home with her future husband, but she kept waking up for some reason. Davey had been ecstatic to finally have her and Marsh there, he'd been all smiles. They'd made plans for the next day, in the afternoon they were going for their first ultrasound together and that night they were having Davey's parents over for dinner. They were both excited about these things, but he had still seemed preoccupied with something all night. Now he was doing quite a bit of tossing and turning. She lay there on her back for awhile in the dark contemplating whether or not to try to talk to him. She finally decided to just go for it.

"Davey?" she whispered.
"Yeah?"
"Is something the matter?" she asked.
"No, everything's fine. Why?"
"You just seemed kinda preoccupied tonight."
"Well, I do have a lot on my mind right now. Not about us, mostly things to do with the band. Just a lot of...stuff."
"But you're not going back out again for a little while, you're going to be in the studio. That should be a relief, right?"
"Not really, in the studio its even more important that everybody's on the same page."
"So you guys are still not getting along. Because of me."
"No, it's not that, it's not your fault. It's my fault."
"What's going on, Davey?"
"Nothing. Nothing honey," he said. "Come here."
She turned over and he embraced her.
She thought he was going to say something but he didn't. He simply wasn't going to tell her what was on his mind.
"Is this what our marriage is going to be like?" she asked. She hadn't thought before speaking, which tended to be a recurring problem for her.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, if something's going on you should trust me enough to tell me -"
"I do trust you, that's not the issue -"
"Then what is the issue?"
"There is no issue, nothing that you need to worry about."
"So there is an issue, but you're just not going to let me in on it?"
Davey sighed, the annoyed kind of sigh that lets you know that a person really isn't in the mood.
"Litzy, I really don't want to argue with you on your first night home."
"Why not? An argument is not going to kill us. How are we going to be married if we cant have an argument and move past it?"
"I don't know, I guess you're right."
Silence.
Litzy turned the light on.
"What is wrong with you?!"
"There is nothing wrong with me!"
"Fine. Whatever," she said, and turned the light out.
She turned over and got comfortable on her pillow, doing her best to fall asleep.
She lay there for awhile, trying to ignore Davey who was still tossing and turning. She was almost asleep when she felt Davey sneak up behind her. She pretended not to.
"Litzy?" he whispered in her ear.
"Mm?"
"Are you asleep?"
"Yes," she said, but laughed. She was no good at being mean with Davey.
"I don't know how you're going to feel about this, which is why I wasn't going to tell you about it. But there is something bothering me."
"What is it, sweetheart?" she asked, turning over.
"Well, I found out not too long ago that...Jade is in love with me."
She was shocked at first, but then she thought about the way Jade always was about Davey, so thoughtful loving and protective, and how many times she had wondered if maybe he loved him as more than a friend. But because of her own feelings towards Davey she'd never wanted to accept it.
"Ohhhhh. Yeah. I can see that."
"Litzy, I just feel like crap."
"Why?"
"Because, he says he's not upset but I know he is. I can tell. And everything was so weird with the band these past few days. It wasn't the same and that scares me. All these years we've been together and now that we're finally getting the recognition we've been working for, something like this pops up and it could ruin everything."
"It won't, everything will be okay," she said, rubbing his arm. "You'll get past this."
"Goddammit - why does everybody love me?!"
Litzy laughed.
"It's not funny."
"Sorry," she said, pulling herself together. "Well Davey, I would say there are a lot of reasons why one would find themselves hopelessly enamored with you. But basically, it boils down to the fact that you're just very special. You're a very unique, beautiful and genuinely good person. Not to mention talented and sexy as hell."
"Ah c'mon," he said, getting bashful. "I'm not all that -"
"No, no, no, let's just face it - you're great. Which is why I can't figure out why you are lying in bed with me right now..."
"Okay that's it," he said, turning the light on and turning her face to his. "What happened to you?"
"Huh?" she blinked, not getting why he was suddenly upset with her.
"Something must have happened to make you always say hurtful things about yourself like you do."
She knew that something did happen, but she was keeping that incident to herself. Just as she always always had.
"This is it, Litzy, you're gonna stop right now. I know you try to pass it off as funny, but it's not funny. Stop putting down someone I love."
She nodded, tears running down her face. "I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry," he said, softening and holding her. "I didn't mean to make you cry. But Litzy you have got to realize that the way you see yourself is not the way everyone else sees you. You're an amazing woman. You're the only woman who's ever even interested me. That's gotta say something."
"It does," she sniffled. Davey wiped her tears away with his beautiful delicate fingers.
"I just want you to have more confidence and to learn to truly love yourself. Loving you is fun, trust me."
She smiled. "Okay. I'll try, I promise."
"Good. Now, I want to show you something."
He got out of bed and put his robe on, then headed downstairs.
She lay there waiting patiently until he returned with what looked like a wide painting, but it was turned away from her so that she couldn't see.
"What is that?"
"This is something I intend to hang right above our bed. It was just finished today and I didn't have time to put it up before you got home."
He turned it around and she gasped. It was a beautiful painting of her, lying on her side in bed. She looked so serene and so..actually pretty.
"They obviously dolled it up. I dont look anything like that."
"The artist painted it from a picture I took of you. It looks exactly the same except he added the background."
"Show me."
He looked at her and shook his head like he couldn't believe she was making him go through all of this, but he found his camera and located the picture, handing the camera to her.
It did look exactly the same.
But it was also the best damned picture of her ever taken, in her opinion.
"Wow. You made me look beautiful..."
"You always look beautiful. I just captured it."
She just sat there unable to reconcile her current feelings to the ones she'd carried around with her for years.
"Litzy," Davey said, kneeling before her and taking the camera from her hands. "Tell me what happened."
"I can't."
"Please?"
She looked into his pretty brown eyes and she did trust him completely and she did so want to tell him, but she found the words would not come.
"I thought you told me that you were going to trust me, that you were going to share everything with me. Even the hard stuff."
She sighed and ran her fingers through his hair, locking them behind his neck.
"I will, Davey. I will tell you everything there is to know. Just...not tonight."
He looked disappointed for a moment, but then looked up at her. "Whenever you're ready I'm here for you."
She caressed his face and kissed his cheek, then his lips. The kiss started out sweet but bean to turn passionate, and soon Davey had picked her up, laying her back on the bed. They made love slowly and gently, and afterwards turned the lights out and drifted off into a deep and peaceful sleep.

Jade went to check on Tyler for the last time that night. He just felt so awful for him. He knew how terrible it must be to be immobilized like that, and since he'd last seen him at the hospital, his cuts and bruises were gone but the casts would remain for some time. Somehow, though, he stayed upbeat. He didn't seem to be at all depressed like he was in the hospital. Jade decided he must've received good care in his absence. He mostly amused himself by plugging away on his laptop with his one good hand. But now he was home to keep him company. He had volunteered because, hey, it wasn't like he had a love life to spend his free time on. Normally he would spend his off time hanging at least a little with Davey. Today, though, he had called Davey three times and he had not answered his phone. Most likely too busy with his girl.

When he walked into the room he found Tyler was knocked out for the night, with his laptop half shut. He figured he'd do well to shut it down for him. He opened it and in the foremost window there was a picture of Davey and Litzy from the night of the awards. Resentment swirled in his heart. The caption read "So in love: Davey Havok and fiancee Litzy Ekhart." Remnants of dinner swirled in his stomach. He clicked the picture off. Behind it was a picture of Litzy from Reuters. He clicked it off. Another picture of Litzy. And another. Why would he want to look at pictures of Litzy? Behind the next he found a photo of Litzy he'd defaced using Photoshop. She now had horns, a mustache and a knife sticking out of her heart with the caption "die bitch die." Jade was disturbed, but figured he was just venting his frustration at having lost Davey to her. He clicked that off and came to an open unsent email on Microsoft Outlook.

I know it will be difficult. But I'd rather you wait until I'm well and can be there to enjoy it. The amount you quoted is fine. It's not about the money to me. As long as you do what you're good at, I'll be happy.

Jade got a bad bad feeling when he read the note, but it was so cryptic it didnt prove anything. He went through the Inbox and Sent Mail folders but all the other messages they'd exchanged had been deleted.

He decided to keep a closer eye on Tyler.
