At 9: 35, Fran woke up from her sleep. She had gotten home late that night due to her schedule that day. She was surprised she woke up that early. Fran got decided to go to Starbucks to get a coffee, so she got dressed. She put a short gold and black skirt and a black polo with gold designs. She put some flip-flops on and walked into the elevator of her apartment. The elevator went down 5 floors and arrived to the lobby. Fran walked through the sliding doors and went to the garage to get her car. She had an Aston Martin DB9. She got it as a gift from her parents on her 18th birthday. Her parents were shot and killed the day after, so she felt emotionally attached to her beautiful car. But that was 2 years ago, so she didn't really think about it all the time anymore.
Fran stepped her car and drove to the Starbucks that was a 3 miles away. Living in Chicago, there was usually a Starbucks every 4 miles, which Fran liked a lot. She parked her car perfectly into a tight space in front of the coffee shop. She walked in and found many people sitting at the tables inside, and out. She waited in the line for about 10 minutes and finally got to order her tall Caramel Frappuccino. She wanted to sit down and read while drinking her coffee but there were no seats available. She remembered that there had been an upstairs sitting area. Walking up stairs, confident to find a seat, she heard no noise. She saw no one sitting there, except a young man whose back was facing hers. Fran sat 3 tables away from him and started to read. She opened her book and started to read when the man decided to talk.
"Blue Bloods, that's a good book." He told her. His voice sounded familiar, but it was definitely not what she expected.
"Uncle, what are you doing here?" She asked with a sigh. Her uncle was a drunk who never came to any family reunions. Well, she hasn't had a family reunion in 2 years, all her family was gone except him. He usually came for money, but since there was no one left to beg, he probably came to ask her.
"Gosh, you sound excited to see me." He said sarcastically. "I'm on vacation. I'm getting sick of Miami, you know."
"Ugh, whatever. What do you want? Money? I have only for myself. I'm sorry, so you can just go back home now."
"No. I just wanted a place to stay for 3 days. I wont be a bother, I promise." He smiled. Both their green eyes met. She looked at him and decided that he was the only family she had left, so what the heck.
"Fine. But you're sleeping on the couch in the living room."
"Yes, yes, don't worry, dear."
Fran gave him an extra card so he could enter her apartment.
"I'll see you later." Her uncle got up, threw out his beer, and walked down the stairs.
"Bye." Fran opened her book and continued to read. Her cell rang.
"Ugh, can't I read for two fucking minutes?" She answered her phone. "Hello?"
"Hey, its me."
"Um, who?"
"Brendon." He started to giggle a little.
"Oh! Hey, what's up?"
"Oh nothing, and you?"
"I'm at Starbuck's.
"Mmmm. Hey, do you want to get together later?"
"Uh, yea sure."
"Ok, meet me at KeyStone for dinner at 7:00. Ok?
"Ok, I'll see you later then. Buh bye."
"Bye, Fran."
Fran hung up the phone and continued drinking her coffee with a smile on her face.
She finally finished and left Starbucks. She drove home to find her Uncle sleeping on the couch in the living room.
