Well, I am still holding out hope for H/Hr in this story. Cho is just too alien of a character to get me excited as a romantic interest for Harry and she also has too much baggage from the books. Heck I'd rather have Harry and a Slytherin pair up than Cho.
The chapter brought up some interesting points. Most people interpret the failures of the deatheaters more as an endorsement for the kids than anything else. So, I look forward to the next chapter and eventually Sirius' will now that you have peaked my interest.
Thanks for writing,
MattAuthor's response
As I have said, I am rather open on the idea of the ship. I honestly liked both Hermione and Cho, and both have their plus and minus points. Cho is a quidditch player - which means she has something she shares with Harry, and with Cedric's death, has a strong motivation in the demise of the Dark Lord. What better way of attaining her vengeance than by helping Harry? However, she is rather emotional and jealous, which is a definite downside. Hermione is a brilliant, logical and reliable, however she has some strong preconceived notions, so she may be uncomfortable with some of the alliances Harry will be forced to make. I intend to develop both Cho and Hermione, regardless of which ship I write and both of them will play a central role in the story.
As for the failure of the Death Eaters, there is much more to that failure than has come out in the story. I believe in the Evil Overlords' list, so I will be trying to write realistic villains, include a more realistic Voldemort - not one who sits in a chair, schemes, and crucios his minions.
Thanks for your encouragement, and thanks for reading and reviewing.

If you are still taking votes then I would vote for Harry/Hermione since I'm forever a HHr shipper. My second choice would be Ginny but that wasn't one of the choices. ;) If, however, you end up going with Harry/Cho then I hope that you keep Hermione as a very close friend of Harry's (like the first 5 books) and not someone like the Hermione of HBP.
Now for the story so far I have to say that it is starting to get interesting. Harry gaining allies in the DEs is something that I haven't read too often and can't wait to see where you go with this. I hope that you aren't going to be writing Ginny out of Harry's circle of close friends. I don't care much for Ron so he can go but Ginny has never gone against Harry and should still be trustworthy. How would you keep them out if there is going to be another DA meeting?
Anyway, please update soon.

Thanks for your opinion about the ship. As I have mentioned in the response to one of my previous reviews, both Hermione and Cho will play a central role in the story and will be vital for Harry. And in response to your question about Ron and Ginny, I will just say that there are a few trust issues there (It is actually Harry being suspicios of the Weasleys) and they will be resolving it in Chapter 6. After that, both Ron and Ginny will be in the story.
Thanks for your ideas, encouragement, and reading and reviewing.

Just a quick note saying I'm glad you are keeping this up. So far I've found it interesting and fresh. I very curious to see how Harry continues to deal with the various Slytherin students.Author's response
Thanks for the encouragement. The Slytherins have a definite self-interest in helping Harry, and they will continue to have a symbiotic relationship.

I should have reviewed earlier, but I'm downright lazy :) That said, I've really enjoyed the story so far. I definitely would like to see Harry get together with Hermione. I'm not a Harry/Cho fan. It is interesting to see the interactions with the Slytherins.Author's response

Hy, wow I got an mention in the story, I feel all special. Nice interprtation of the battle of the DOM, I don't believe that it's been done that way before. I lik the way you are building up this story, looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks for the vote of confidence and the encouragement. One of my pet peeves was the Battle of the DoM. Villains should be given an iota of intelligence and competence, at the very least.
Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Cho though I have a feeling I will be out voted. I think this story would also be fine with no ship at allAuthor's response
Regardless of the ship, Cho has a vital role to play in the story - the plot will be very similar, regardless of the ship. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

I vote for Harry/Hermione. Mostly because I have no idea how you will portray Cho and Harry needs someone strong and dependable to lean on at times. Hermione seems to be that. And in canon Cho seems a bit jealous . I look forward to seeing what role the Slytherins will play. Might the two remaining Malfoy's become allies of Harry's? Will Harry learn of his inheritance from Sirius and his parents? I look forward to the next update.Author's response
As for the Malfoys, you will have to wait and see - I cannot see Draco abandoning his love for the Dark Lord so easily, although I think he is rather enamoured by the concept of lording it over others, rather than loving the idea of torturing and killing others. Sirius and the Potters wills - well, that is a story of its own, which you will see in Chapter 6.
Thanks for your ideas on the ship, and thanks for reading and reviewing.

FYI you can respond to reviews on the reviews page (through My Account). Don't care for any pairing - when it is an issue early tends to be a bad fic.
Would have liked Harry to have countered the argument about the lack of unforgivables early in the fight. Or asked if Malfoy might accept a path out of danger...Author's response
I know about the reviews page and I had already replied on that - I just threw in my replies after the story so that people would not miss it. Just a precautionary measure, if you will :p.
As for the ship - well, it is just a bit of spice for the story; the plot is not going to change remarkably, regardless of whether it is Cho or Hermione.
As for unforgivables, you do not need unforgivables to kill - a well placed cutter or bone breaker would suffice, and the six kids were dealing with the creme de la creme of the Death Eaters. I do not think it would have even occurred to Malfoy Sr. that he might just lose to six teens - and in fact, if it were not for the treachery of some Death Eaters (in my interpretation), the kids would be dead. So, I think that Malfoy felt he did not need protection against the kids, and given his vanity, would never admit it, even to himself, even if he did need protection.
Thanks for your pointing out some possible arguments - it is very helpful to have someone look over the logic of the story. Thanks for your comments, reading and reviewing.

Maidros
