Chapter 30
Steal The Glamour From Death
Melaina stood at the gates of her city complex as she watched the line of her two dozen soldiers and their three prisoners march their way down the winding paths from the forest. As Tiberius neared the Gate she couldn't help but notice the weariness that dimmed his ancient eyes - and as Melaina's stormy blue globes scanned the men that were all that was left of My Chemical Romance she sighed, the death of their drummer hadn't been part of her plan but what was done was done and they would have to learn that.
Tiberius stood to attention when he came in meters of her, the rest of his men following in suit but the younger band mates just stood and scowled all but Gerard looking at her with fiery hatred - he didn't even have the courtesy to look up. Melaina nodded to the men, a slight smile gracing her lips as she stepped forward in front of the vocalist, throwing his head back with her pale hand so his proud green eyes bored into hers "Nice to see you again Gerard." She welcomed him curtly.
"I wish I could say the same for you." He almost spat back. Frank giggled quietly just for the hell of it but Melaina chose to ignore him.
"Well?" She asked them all slowly "You'd better follow me I suppose, we're sure to find...rooms for you all." Gerard gave her an almost pitying look before falling into step behind her. As he walked Tiberius came to walk by him, worry creasing his face.
"I would watch out if I were you Gerard Way, she's a cruel woman." He told the vocalist sadly.
Gerard nodded and turned his still blazing green eyes upon the withered old man "I should know," He muttered almost bitterly. "She's mother to my little girl."

"Sweetie!" Melaina called from the living room where the TV was blaring out, washing away the gloom that seemed to have encircled the mansion. "They're playing the Used's new video on Fuse." Kaela came running in seconds, a smile spreading its self over her ten year old face. "Cool!" She grinned as she sat herself down in front of the widescreen TV and contentedly sang along till the end of what was rapidly becoming her favourite song. Melaina smiled as she heard her daughter sing, she had a brilliant voice and she managed to sing 'I caught fire' amazingly well...the sort of song Gerard would have liked, she couldn't help thinking.
There was the flash of adverts before the cameras zoomed in on Fuse's Steve who was smiling little bit too much for it to be completely true.
"Heya and welcome back to Steve's Untitled Rock Show, in just a couple of seconds we'll be going live to My Chemical Romance who've come into the studio for today!" The presenter grinned as yet more adverts for the website this time flashed up on the scene giving Kaela time to turn around and smile "My Chem! You like them too don't you mama?" Melaina just nodded quickly, her eyes still fixed on the screen in front of where she sat on the sofa. True to his word seconds later Steve and all five of MCR appeared in a side room off the studio, the band all seated on a pretty old looking sofa but they looked as comfortable as it's possible to be while you're broadcast to half the world just sitting there.
"Welcome back and here I am with New Jersey's now infamous poster boys My Chemical Romance." Steve grinned as he nodded slightly to the bands front man who raised the mic he'd been clipping his black painted nails on seconds before. Melaina had to refrain from shaking her head as she saw him, his chin length and extraordinarily messy hair had been chaotically died very bright red at the back and vaguely towards the front. He was wearing yet another of his almost trademark black jackets and a black shirt which was unbuttoned at the top and from the fact that most of the rest of the band were only wearing t-shirts even though it was the middle of winter kind of indicated how hot it was getting in there. His legs were crossed and he was leaning back slightly against the sofa, his head lolling to one side a little so it was practically on Frank's shoulder. But the grin that was plastered across his face was pretty infective and she couldn't help but smile.
"Hey, we're My Chemical Romance here on Fuse and we'd all like to thank Steve for having us here today." Gerard beamed out to the world, looking across at Frank who was sitting next to him on the sofa as he finished.
"Yeah," The guitarist added "Cos you guys kick major backside!" The rest of the band all laughed slightly, enjoying their inside joke as Steve grinned, very obviously only pretending to know what they were on about.
"Well you guys have had a pretty hectic year and we've had some questions in about how Taste of Chaos was tasting for My Chem?"
Gerard nodded and again looked across at Frank "Yeah Taste of Chaos was tasting great!" He smiled enthusiastically "We met some pretty cool people on there as well."
Frank grinned but it was Mikey who spoke "Yeah, some pretty awesome dudes on that tour."
"Yeah I understand that the Used were headlining as well as Killswitch Engage...that go well?" Steve asked moving the conversation away from My Chem's infamous ramblings.
Gerard laughed, and properly "Yeah they rocked we had a great tour with those guys, especially the Used."
"The word on the street is you're doing a cover with them?" Steve pressed and Melaina sighed but she was smiling inside, trust Gerard Way to make friends with Bert McCracken.
Gerard nodded "Yeah, for charity but we can't tell you anything more."
"Really like to but can't." Frank added with a grin as he shot Bob a look for practically dropping his microphone.
"Aww," Steve sighed "Oh well if its you guys it's destined to be good." He grinned "Now here's My Chemical Romance again with 'I'm Not Okay'." As the set faded into the beginning of the band's hit video Melaina laughed quietly as she swore she heard Frank mutter "No seriously you guys are way too nice to us..."
