great chapter!
i hope vance will find her notes about the longbottoms at the hospital and will follow the normal procedure again and talks to neville...
interesting dreamvision, like it how it would fit before HBP...
please a h/hr pairing because in the fifth book the brak between cho and harry was very clean, they may become friends through the work of her mother but i think that flame is out...harry's reaction when hermione was hit with that flame in the DoM indicates for me a very highly possible pairing and i would hope you go with it...Author's response
Emmeline is going to find out her predicament from a variety of sources. As for the dream vision, it is intricately tied to the story. Harry has a lot of things to accomplish and he needs every weapon he can get.
As for the pairing, it is going to be Harry/Hermione. Thanks for your opinion regarding the ship.
Thanks for the encouragement and thanks for reading and reviewing.

why would a muggle born or muggle raised wizard use a quill and parchment! I sure as hell wouldnt. I mean at first it would seem to be cool but that would wear off real quick after having to repeatedly dip the quill in the inkpot and to mention the scrolls of parchment. pens, pencils and spiral notebooks beat them hands down!Author's response
I am not sure that Harry has his own pen and paper - the Dursleys tend to keep all their possessions out of his room, and Harry, just back from Hogwarts probably does not have paper/pens.
I agree about the practicality, though - pencils rule :p

You have a great story in the works here and I do hope that you complete it. That being said, you asked about ships, first you should write the story that YOU have invisioned and not pander to us readers. If you already had planned for a Hermione ship then by all means do that, but if you are looking for a challenge of your writing skills then let me say try an odd pairing or one that hasn't been overdone. Some suggestions for the odd pairing; Daphne, Padma, Angelina, Lavender, and the list goes on and on.
Mainly I would tell you just to concentrate on your story and update soon.Author's response
Thanks for the encouragement. In this case, the ship is incidental to the plot and does not really impinge upon it. As per my plot, it would have been possible to write both Cho and Hermione romances. In this case, the readers have chosen the Harry/Hermione romance and I will continue with that.
I agree with your choices about the possible ships. I am starting another story in a few days, and I intend to write a Harry/Hannah romance. As for the ones you have suggested, the problem with Daphne, and Tracey is that we know nothing about them at all. Lavender romance would be a true challenge, though (what do Harry and Lavender have in common? Writing a credible Lavender ship would be a real problem). Thanks for your opinion regarding the ships.
Thanks for the encouragement and thanks for reading and reviewing.

Decent chapter. I'm not sure I buy the whole chain of succession as described, especially since I thought Umbridge was the "under secretary" or something like that.
I think I'm missing something here. So the warning owl about Voldemort's plans never made it to it's destination? There seems to be a lack of anger, confusion, or something somewhere. Or do I mis-remember something?
In regards to the 'ship... you said in a previous reply to a review that you gave double weight to Cho - so each Cho vote counted for two - AND yet Hermione still won. Doesn't that say something? It sounds as if the Hermione vote won by a landslide.
In any case, I can't remember if I ever voted. I vote Hermione. I'm still having problems seeing Cho and Harry together, despite how well you've written her character. (Actually, I like Cho's mother better than Cho. Go figure...)Author's response
The undersecretary is merely a Fudge lackey (at least, this is my interpretation). The undersecretary would be a sort of Fudge's executive and certainly does not outrank the various Heads of the Departments. Also, it makes sense for the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to be Minister until a new one can be elected. Also the head of the DMLE seems to be a very powerful position - remember the amount of power Barty Crouch wielded.
As for the warning owls, the present chapter deals with them. Neville does not know what happened to his warning owl - he blithely assumes that the owl did reach its destination. Susan is much more suspicious, as you can see in the present chapter.
As for the ship, I bow to the will of my readers - the ship is going to be Harry/Hermione.
Thanks for the encouragement, and thanks for reading and reviewing.

So, Dumbledore has been interfering in the lives of just about everybody. He is most likly the one responsible for the 'enhanced' security surrounding the Longbottoms, and given that he just obliviated Emmiline, that possibility has graduated to Probability.
He doesn't know of Harry's impending escape, but is preparing to sacrifice another pawn in his chess game against Voldemort. Harry would do well to tighten up the ties between himself, Neville and Susan.
Ship? Harry/Hermione, of course! Since I am a dedicated Harry/Hermione fan, I always recommend Harry/Hermione any time a recommendation of ships, (like Harry/Hermione) is needed. Yup! Harry/Herrmione is where it's at! (That's five votes for Harry/Hermione. Oops! Six!)
(Was that over the top? I can never tell.) Grins unrepentantly
As always I eagerly await the next chapter of 'Black Vengeance'. AlorkinAuthor's response
Thanks for your opinion regarding the ship. I bow to the will of my readers. It will be Harry/Hermione.
As for Dumbledore, well - he is playing a very nasty and unpleasant game. He has his reasons, as you will see.
As for his not knowing Harry's impending escape, well - this chapter does deal with that part. He is going to manipulate people against Harry as well. Dumbledore has the habit of assuming authority even when he has none.
Harry is going to have to learn to play the chess game soon, and he will. I intend to have Harry as a honourable ally and a ruthless enemy.
Thanks for the encouragement, and thanks for reading and reviewing.

'The tradition is that the head of Magical Law Enforcement would be the acting minister' -- interesting idea, but could you really see Fudge as head MLE?
'I will be inviting them here to the headquarters. It will be much safer for them here' -- ? Albus just got finished saying the Order would have to move to Hogwarts because the building might belong to Bella or Cissy, why then would it be safer for Susan and Neville?Author's response
As for the head of MLE being acting Minister, there is no reason why Fudge should have been acting Minister at any time. Fudge was the regular Minister who was elected via whatever Wizarding elections there might be. You do not need to be Head of MLE to stand for Minister elections - it is only in times of crisis and there is no Minister for whatever reason that the Head of MLE acts as the Minister temporarily.
As for Neville and (as Dumbles imagines) Susan, he will move them to Hogwarts when the others move there. Albus' point is that they are safer with the Order members rather than staying alone (or with anyone else, for that matter - Albus strikes me as the kind who would be satisfied with only his own solutions). But thanks for raising that point. It is a very interesting and pertinent remark you made about the Order. I will clarify what Albus had in mind.
Thanks for the encouragement and thanks for reading and reviewing.
