That was an excellently told story. At first I was skeptical since it is sometimes difficult to become attached to new characters, but I was quickly drawn in by the stories that Zell tells and the memories which the stories drag up from deep within him.
The truth of the real world grows more and more bitter as your tale progresses, bitter but entirely believable and wonderfully, there is still hope at the bottom of the jar somehow.
There were so many amazing moments in the story that it would be fruitless to enumerate them all. Especially poignant were the scene where Sheri arrives in her uniform, the sinking of the old Garden and Rinoa's last visit with Zell.
The ending was beautifully chilling and I also really enjoyed the legend that you invented. Thank you for a captivating read.Story

I first read this a while ago, and I think I had to digest for a while and read it again to form a proper opinion. I love the story's bittersweetness -- heavy on the bitter. It just seems so much more true to the game than fic where everything's sunshine and rainbows after Ultimecia's defeated. FF8 is a gritty world where teenagers are mercenaries, and Zell's fate and the deaths of his friends and Sheri being drafted at age 6 aren't fair but they fit. Life isn't fair but the little things can be absolutely wonderful. Poetic. Great stuff.Story

This was incredibly moving. I love how the game events wasn't the end, or even the worst thing that happened to the characters. How life went on in all its bittersweetness, and how Garden wasn't the benign savior forever. It felt very, very real.
