After today, I wish I could just forget it all. Everything Hera and the other gods had told me. Forget about everyone at the school, even my team-mates. Forget about the prophesy. And especially oracle. I shivered at the thought of his eyes. They did not see what lay in front of him, but of what lay ahead, out of our reach and ultimately out of our control. Well, my team-mates aren't so bad, especially-. I stopped my thoughts abruptly, and glanced at Geoffrey sheepishly. Well, I do already have a boyfriend, and shouldn't think about him so much. After all, Geoffrey was the kindest person I met the first day at the school. He understood my confusion at being introduced to this new world as he had experienced himself, not so long ago, but for a different prophesy. Secretly, I envied him. Such a simple prophesy, no burdens. Nothing you have to live up to and nothing you wish you could avoid. It was all simple and straight forward, nothing to think about.
But together, with Geoffrey, I could forget about all that. We walked in silence, but it was a comfortable silence. Our hands were intertwined and it is just nice to know he's there.
"How did the mission go?" Geoffrey asked softly, breaking our silence.
I sigh. What didn't go wrong on that mission? Sometimes I wonder why I'm even here at the school of the gods. I'm sure they made a mistake picking me. But, still, I guess it was the destruction prophesy-not exactly the highest honor around here, in the land of heroes.
Burying my thoughts back into my head, I answer very truthfully. "Terrible. We caught the harpy, but the destruction left behind... And imagine how many people witnessed this peculiar scene?"
"What do you mean?" Geoffrey asked, looking confused. Holy man, he's so cute when he's confused.
"Well, how many times did you see a harpy tearing apart buildings before you came to this place? I would have thought I was insane!"
"Yah, I can see your point," he said, both of us laughing. I love his laugh. It just has so much feeling to it. You can't help but laugh with him.
Coming through a thick curtain of branches as we strolled through the forest, we move into a small clearing. The feeling around here is amazing. A strong sense of calm. Moonlight is streaming down on this area, embracing the both of us.
"Detta, close your eyes. I have a surprise for you," Geoffrey explained, tenderly putting my hands on my eyes. I feel his touch, his warmth, igniting my heart after such a terrible day. His surprise, I'm sure, will cheer me up more.
In front of me, I hear him speaking strange words, like some sort of spell. "ïìïñöéÜ ðñï ðÜÃôùà óå ÃÃá ðëÜóìá ôï ðéü èåßïôï."
I feel a strange force surge through me that takes my breath away. My body goes into a series of convulsions as if I'm being torn apart. My head spins, colors of every hue flying through it. I try to open my eyes, but all I see is a swirling storm of air around me.
When the strange event subsides, I open my eyes and find I am lying on the ground. I look up to see Geoffrey, a changed Geoffrey. His eyes don't seem nearly as inviting or friendly as they once did before. It is a look of cold triumphant. At first I'm at a loss why, but then it hits me that he must have changed me somehow. Searching my pocket for the only mirror I posess (hey, the seven year bad luck thing is true, take it from me), I glance at my reflection. Only it isn't mine. Or at least the reflection I thought I had.
"Oh. My. Gosh!" are the only words I can utter. My face has been changed slightly, but my body has totally changed. I was never really obese or anything, but I did have big hips and some extra weight around my stomach. But now it is gone. Completely gone.
Above me, I see Geoffrey smiling. Again a smile that I don't know. He's a stranger to me now. I'm slightly frightened at this new Geoffrey. Or is it new? This could be the real him. I shiver at the thought.
Searching for words, I finally manage to spit out, "What happened?"
Geoffrey kneels down in front of me, looking straight into my eyes with his cold eyes. "A spell, Detta. To make you, in the eyes of your soul-mate, the most beautiful woman in the world."
Shock starts to overcome me as I search for answers. "W-why?" I stutter, feeling a cold breeze sweep over me.
"Because, /dear/," he replies, accenting the one word. "Haven't you ever truly looked at your self, seen your imperfection? I have given you a gift that many seek. After all, I couldn't be seen with someone like you. I am, after all, your soul-mate. For whom else would there be?"
His words burn through me like an icy fire. I can think of a few, but how dare he change me just for him. My hands feel energized, power surging through them. "N-not good enough for you?!" I scream at him.
He gives me a disapproving look. "Dear, have you not surveyed yourself closely? Sure, your face is beautiful, but your body just isn't- perfect."
His face, so much more grim and power-hungry then usual, infuriated me even more. My temper was searing at an all time high. I scream, "Find yourself another barbie doll, Geoffrey! I'm through with you! How dare you use me to improve your own filthy image!"
Reaching forward, I slap him squarely on the face. Very, very hard. He winces slightly. I walk away, as proudly as I can with my unbearable pain. My anger sears and I hear a few trees crackle around me. Darn it. Got to remember to control my powers.
In the distance I hear a lonely wolf howl. The wind around me twists and churns, my hair billowing around me. I hear Geoffrey cursing himself. I ignore it all.

Interesting turn out. What is Detta's real name? Is that spell properly translated? If anyone knows Greek, please tell me. PLEASE r&r. See ya!
