At Itachi's place, Miko was sitting on a bed, staring at the ANBU mask that she held in her hands, wondering.
She had been given a new mission: Kill Kakashi and Gai, who now lay in two separate hospital rooms, and the ANBU whom were now looking for them.
The mask... It was supposed to make things calmer... She wished Kakshi still had his and Gai had a mask himself.
She wondered: Would any of them scream? Would they even die? Could she do it? Could she manage to get in, kill them, and get back out alive and undiscovered? In the back of her mind, Mikale howled.
He was cute, too.
Miko ignored Mikale's comment, although agreeing fully.
"You're too soft," Kisame's voice said from the doorway, "You shouldn't worry about taking away a few lives. They'd kill you just as quick."
Miko nodded.
"By now, you should love that mask. You wear it plenty." Kisame sat beside her. The bed shifted under the man's weight.
"It's weird... You wear a amsk so much that you begin to forget even the simple things like who you are... And why you exist..." Miko was crying.
Kisame was shocked as Miko rested her head against his chest. He was even more shocked as Miko placed her hand on his leg. He stroked her hair. It was smooth and straight, as if she had just gotten out of the shower.
Miko continued cryng silently.
She never lets her emotions show nor be heard. Naturally, her tears would be silent. Kisame thought.
Miko's eyes closed and Kisame's hand stopped at the tips of her hair. He realized he had been absent-mindedly humming a soothing tune.
Itachi cleared his throat. Kisame jumped, realizing he had been at the door staring at them for some time.
Kisame shrugged and gave Itachi an 'I didn't know what else to do' look. He layed Miko down on the bed and gently eased a blanket over her and her Akatsuki jacket off, putting it on her dresser. She had not actually slept in nearly a week. She deserved to rest in peace for once. The world would have to take a time out for now.
