Now this is an interesting story. I like the background you're giving and I suspect the upcoming battle is going to be a most nasty one. I also suspect that the active participation of the ghosts on the side of Light will be an unexpected rude surprise for Tom. Since he was the one who, slightly indirectly killed Myrtle, I wonder if his death will return her to life or if something else does? It will be most interesting to see who survives the battle and who doesn't.Author's response
Thank you for reading and reviewing, it really helps. The ghosts will definitely play a large part in this story; it is after all, primarily a ghost story . . .

Just curious, but is there some reason why Slughorn isn't the Potions Professor, as in canon?
"T"Author's response
Ah, yes. There's a perfectly good explanation why Slughorn is not the potion's professor at the time of Myrtle's death.
I screwed it up.
But thanks to you, I fixed it.

Chaper 1 is now changed to reflect that Sideria is in fact, the astronomy professor of the day.

"Oh hell and damnation; no one wants to die forever!"
That is a great, although odd, line.Author's response
Thank you for reading and reviewing. If you like that line you might enjoy a ghostly sub-plot in "Family Issue," also on this site.
Nearly Headless Nick fans enjoyed the outcome.

Sylvia St. James starts out as the Astronomy professor and then is suddenly potions master. Which is she?Author's response
Thank you for reading and reviewing, and thank you for pointing out that glaring error, I had made Professor St. James the potion's master (mistress?) at first, but another reader pointed out that Slughorn would have been the potions professor at the time of Myrtle's death. I've gone back and re-worded Sylvia's description as master astronomer. Please, if you or anyone else can point out anymore glaring errors in the story feel free to coment. Constructive critisism is very welcome.

I wanted to re-read this again, and saw that I hadn't reviewed nearly as much as I had thought. Got to agree about Shirley Henderson, though was honestly surprised that she was as old as she was during the 2nd film. I liked how you added a lot more exposition on how she died, and makes sense that Riddle used that for his first horcrux. Also, given that what just happened at the end with the heads of the family members, I have to wonder if the purebloods are planning to rule by themselves completely, as it looks like Tom is going to end up killing most anyone else. The thing is, given how he was in canon, why would anyone folloW him? That was a nice part with the ghosts, and looking forward to what all they bring to the fight. The Afterlife and Times of Myrtle Potter
