Chapter One

The fire nation outlaws slowly walked though the great earth kingdoms' walls. All of them were uncertain of what lend ahead of them; would the earth/water nation lend them straight to do their deaths; torture them for information before then; turn them into slaves for the rest of their lives in hard labor? Or would the Nations free them for the time being because of them not having any ties to the Fire Nation?

Banish Prince Zuko and retired General Iroh silently followed their fellow fire nation people who were lending by the powerful earth and water benders. The iron chains rubbed painful on their wrist and ankles, clanging together on the hard stone floor as they walked. Men, women and children were chained together, only the children under the age of seven weren't, for they held by their mothers and fathers, fearing if they lent go of the parents, the 'evil' men with weird pointy hats and blue robes would take them away.

Zuko glared at the earth and water benders. 'How dare they capture them! They weren't doing anything!' the chain around his wrist started smoking.

"Calm down, nephew." His uncle told him in whisper hoping none of the other nations notice. Zuko closed his eyes, calming his breath. He couldn't understand the lot of them. They capture innocent people; women and children. Even if they are from the fire nation, doesn't mean that they dangerous. Okay maybe they are little dangerous, but the children under eight or nine are somewhat helpless if they don't have the right training.

Suddenly Zuko looked up on his right, his eyes landed on the Avatar and his fellows, who stood there stunned of seeing him and the others that he was with. He snared at the sight of them. Before they could do anything, a wall behind them magically sealed.

-

"Well, it could be worse, hey Nephew?" Iroh asked his nephew cheerfully. The fire nation group was in the dark cave like prison, still chained together, but easier to move around. Zuko looked at him knowing what he meant.

"Yes, uncle." He said, crossing his arms in front of his chest. Iroh sat down next to his nephew, wondering what was troubling his young charge.

"General sir!" Iroh looked up and saw two pass soldiers approaching them. "The children are restless sir, we were thinking......" Said left one.

"That we can have Music Night!" The other said. There were cheers though out the prison.

"NO!" Zuko said, but it was too late, Uncle Iroh looked up grinning, golden eyes twinkling at the thought.

"What do we have for instruments?" he asked, pulling out his smuggled flute from his stolen earth nation clothes.

"We gave spoons, pots... some of us smuggled some small instruments sir!"

"Excellent!" As he said this, many pulled out their instruments, as others that didn't thought of smuggling instruments grabbed pots and pans that was nearest to them. Zuko moaned, covering his face.

"What are we playing sir?" asked a woman.

"Land of Fire (1), She'ty." Iroh said, she nodded as everyone else did. Four singers stood up; two males and two females, all but one was past soldiers to the present fire lord.

"One, two, three!"

(Song)

(Chorus:)

I feel no shame
I'm proud of where I came from
I was born and raised in the Land of Fire
One thing I know
No matter where I go
I keep my heart and soul in the Land of Fire

And I can feel
That burning fire running through my veins
And I can hear that lullaby of a midnight flame
It sings to me and it sounds familiar

(Chorus)

I feel no shame
I'm proud of where I came from
I was born and raised in the Land of Fire
One thing I know
No matter where I go
I keep my heart and soul in the Land of Fire

And I can taste
That firesuckle and it's still so sweet
When it grows wild
On the banks down at old fire camp creek
Yeah, and it calls to me like a warm wind blowing

(Chorus)

I feel no shame
I'm proud of where I came from
I was born and raised in the Land of Fire
One thing I know
No matter where I go
I keep my heart and soul in the Land of Fire

It's where I learned about living
It's where I learned about love
It's where I learned about working hard
And having a little was just enough

It's where I learned about the Fire Spirits
And knowing where I stand
You can take it or leave it, this is me
This is who I am

Give me a tin roof
A front porch and a red gravel road
And that's home to me
It feels like home to me

(Chorus)

I feel no shame
I'm proud of where I came from
I was born and raised in the Land of Fire
One thing I know
No matter where I go
I keep my heart and soul in the Land of Fire

I keep my heart and soul in the Land of Fire

You get a boomerang, I'll get a sword
We'll go in war in the hellish word
Paisho on a Saturday night
Prays on Sunday morning

(2x)
You get a boomerang, I'll get a sword
We'll go to war in the hellish word
(Down in the Land of Fire)
Paisho on a Saturday night
Prays on Sunday morning

Say a little prayer for us

For we may not survive to thee...

By now the whole earth/water nation notice the singing and dancing. The soldiers guarding the door looked up shocked.

"Backwoods Boy (2), Zuko!" Iroh called. Everyone with their pots, spoons or whatever they had got ready for their future fire lord to sing. Zuko smiled, knowing this song by heart.

(Song)

Woke up at 5am, put on my camouflage
Wiped off my bow and reared up my horse
Headed out to my ol' deerstand back in the pines
Gonna get me a ten point buck with 11 inch tines, yeah

Settled in hidin' from the wind, waitin' on the sun
You might end up being my supper if you get in the way of my sword
It's so still I can hear the trail from 10 miles away
If I'm here 8 hours from now it'll be OK, yeah

CHORUS
Cause I'm a backwoods boy
Grew up on a red dirt nation
I'm a backwoods boy
With no better place to go
Waitin' on a deer, wishin' on a star
Cause I'm a backwoods boy
I'm a backwoods boy

Sittin' on the bank of Lynches
River with a little campfire
Sleepin' on the ground, diggin' the
Sound of a backwoods choir
Talkin' to the sprits on the sun and moon
Way up in the sky
They told me to let my worries
roll on by, yeah

CHORUS

Cause I'm a backwoods boy
Grew up on a red dirt nation
I'm a backwoods boy
With no better place to go
Waitin' on a deer, wishin' on a star
Cause I'm a backwoods boy
I'm a backwoods boy

I'm a backwoods boy
I'm a backwoods boy
Backwoods boyI'm a backwoods boy

The Earth benders watched as the fire nation started dancing, laughing, and having a time of their lives. They were confused that they were celebrating that they were prisoners. They were also shocked that the Fire Prince could sing.

"What is the composition about!" Earth Lord said, walking up to the guards. The guards jumped at the voice that they were so tuned on the music they didn't notice a huge crowed filling the large prison.

"Its the fire nation, sir! They're singing and dancing sir."

"I could see that! But why?"

"We don't know sir! They went crazy! One minute they were talking in their 'evil' fire nation language, and the next thing we knew they pulled out smuggled flutes, and started have like Music Night or something sir!"

"Well make them stop!"

"We can't sir!"

"And why not?"

"Because, sir. Look what happen to Ping!"

By now every prisoner was up and dancing like maniacs, including Prince Zuko, who thought 'What the heck, I'm going to die anyway, so why not have some fun when it last?'. Then all of sudden everyone went quiet. A young woman walked up; the music became quieter and sad.

(Song)

He was on his way home from Candletop
Been two weeks gone and he thought he stop
at Web's and have him a drink 'for he went home to her

Andy Wo-Lo said hello
he said 'Hi, what's a doing', Wo
said sit down, I got some bad news that's gonna hurt.

Said I'm you best friend and you know that's right
But your young bride ain't home tonight
Since you've been gone she's been seeing that Amos boy, Seth

He got mad and he saw red
Andy said, Boy, don't you lose your head
Cause to tell you the truth, I've been with her myself

Chores
That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Don't trust your soul to no backwoods Southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town's got blood stains on his hands

Andy got scared and he left the bar
Walking on home cause he didn't live far
You see, Andy didn't have many friends and he just lost him one

Brother thought his wife must've left town
So he went home and finally found
the only thing Daddy left him and that was a gun

He went off to Andy's house
Slipping through the woods as quiet as a mouse
Come upon some tracks too small for Andy to make

He looked through the screen at the back porch door
He saw Andy lying on the floor
In a puddle of blood, and he started to shake.

The Georgia Patrol was making their rounds
so he fired a shot just to flag them down
A big bellied sheriff grabbed his gun and said,
Why'd you do it?

They hung my brother before I could say
the tracks he saw while on this way
to Andy's house and back that night were mine

And his cheatin' wife had never left town
That's one body that'll never be found
You see, little sister don't miss when she aims her gun

Chores
That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Don't trust your soul to no backwoods Southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town's got blood stains on his hands (4)

The young woman sat back down. The music went up again. An older man, around in 30s stood up. "That was so sad." Katara said.

"Why?" Sokka asked, not getting the song.

"A man was put to death of a crime that he didn't committed, because he wanted to protect his sister...." Aang said shocked that fire nation would have any songs that emotional.

"Oh." Sokka said feeling like an idiot. It bothered him that enemy could sing and he couldn't (in his opinion).

(Song)

I've been your lover, I've been your friend
I've been your faithful one-woman man
I've been your diamond in the rough
Now you say you wanna polish me up

Chorus
Why, why, why do you wanna change me now?
Ain't I the one you loved everything about?
You might start missin' the old me around
So why, why, why do you wanna change me now

I remember you used to like
Walkin' with me on my wilder side
My kind of crazy turned you on
Do you really want that part of me gone?

Chorus
Why, why, why do you wanna change me now?
Ain't I the one you loved everything about?
You might start missin' the old me around
So why, why, why do you wanna change me now

Why, why, why
Ain't I the one?
You might start missin'

Chorus
Why, why, why do you wanna change me now?
Ain't I the one you loved everything about?
You might start missin' the old me around
So why, why, why do you wanna change me now (5)

"Leave them. Let the fire nation scum dance the night away. Let them have fun before their deaths!" the earth lord yelled, angry that he couldn't stop the fire nation of singing. Angerly the earth lord walked out of the prison.
