Some people just don't listen, do they? I think this is a not uncommon theme in many fanfics because, after the first excitment of reading canon, we see all the deep nastiness in the Potterverse -- the sufferings that a real Harry or Luna might have to go through, ignored by the adults.
I'm enjoying this Harry. Well done.

The question for me is: Did JKR put that cruelty, and lack of concern over it on the part of those who should be responsible for quelling it, deliberately to show that the Wizarding World is not a utopia, or was it just a plot device on her part to create the Harry and Luna characters? Decent chapter, though I'm a bit miffed that the plot itself didn't advance all that much. Still, it was enjoyable to read, so thanks for that.
Err... your formatting got a bit messed up. Early in the chapter, you seem to have forgotten to end the html for the italicized section, so a huge chunk of the chapter is in italics. I'm fairly sure you can edit the chapter and fix it.
Good luck with the next chapter.Author's response
Good catch. The error wasn't there when I previewed the submission and the terminate tag is in my master. I did edit the file so it should be fixed now. BJHLike Some Song You Can't Unlearn

Very good story, I love it.
I am happy that you still writhe this story it's original and I enjoy this Harry.
He is tainted by darkness but no lose in the darknes, he is a grey Harry contrary to Dumbledore he had take the fight as a war ( use all mean to win and made it short for that less innocent will be caught in the fight ) and not as a fight between light and darkness ( bound be moral rule who bind his hand like Dumbledore and cause death of innocent ).
Is "friend" have been hypocrit ( they beneficit of the peace that he brought but because of how he did they had turn their back to him, and if he had fight like they "want" they will be dead with a lot of innocent ) and in this new world he can see how sad their life are without him ( too bad his Hermione, Ron and Gin can see what they will be without him in their life )
So now Harry is a little more selfish and it's good for him. I hope he will have good time with narcissa and find true friend ( go Moody ! )
I hope to see more interaction between Harry and his class, and that his little lesson can show "the light" to some persone.
Update soon : I can wait to read the next chap.

Yes, you should always thank your betas. ;) BTW, nice re-edit on this, so much better than I remembered it to be. Now, that being said, I am curious as to whether you plan for Luna to be able to figure out who Harry/Oddysseus really is and where he's from? In addition, you put plenty enough thought and action as well as deep emotion into this prank and Harry's defense of Luna in this chapter. I hope that it continues but is not limited to just that. You still have to address the issue of Ginny and her appearance, i.e. what has happened to her to cause her to retreat into herself and if it can be positively impacted with some investigation or action. I look forward to you next update and another sneak peak if possible.

Why on earth would Harry want to help Ginny after what she did to him? Let Neville fix her! BJHLike Some Song You Can't Unlearn

Brilliant! Harry is well justified, no matter what Albus may think, and the ward is pretty harmless, if they don't commit a crime.
Thank you for updating.
More soon, please.Author's response
Thanks, I thought his response was pretty restrained too. BJHLike Some Song You Can't Unlearn

Outstanding update, it doesn't get much better than a nice rant at the professors. I hope to see more conflicts between Harry and McGonagall, since she seemed pretty unrepentant in this chapter. Maybe he should have force-fed her a chocolate...Author's response
Interesting idea that... To be honest, I was rather surprised at her pig-headedness myself (pardon the pun) but when I was writing it she just insisted on jumping out there and sticking her feet in her mouth hip deep. I wonder how she is going to get out of this one? BJHLike Some Song You Can't Unlearn

Great chapter. Loved how Harry got back at the Ravenclaws. He pointed out some things that has nagged me about Hogwarts teachers. They were always painted as caring towards their students and knew what was going on, but that was rarely ever the case. Luna was a perfect example. No one helped her most turn a blind eye to what was going on. I'm glad that someone stood up for those who can't stand up for themselves. I don't think the professors realize that turning a blind eye to things will lead to more Tom riddle wanna be.Author's response
Yes, something I always found curious. The staff would rebel against Umbridge, and support Harry once the truth came out in OotP but not before, as you point out they refuse to help Marietta... but they do nothing to help Luna, or even help Harry in CoS, GoF, and OotP until it is too late and he no longer needs it. It's a decent story, so far, but you've changed the characters quite a bit. I think in OotP, none of the professors were willing to remove "SNEAK" from Marietta's forehead because of her betrayal - it hardly seems like the professors would so staunchly support thieving students without due consideration. Furthermore, it's foolish of Harry to go so gung-ho about changing attitudes - he's making more enemies than friends, rather like Snape.Author's response
Ironic, isn't it? Or should that be hypocritical?
They refuse to help Marietta after she betrays the DA, the help fight Umbridge after dumbledore is removed, yet they do nothing to help Harry in CoS when the whole school ostrasizes him for being the Heir of Slytherin even though DD and likely the whole staff know that he isn't, nor do they help him in GoF when they all know someone else put his name in as part of an attempt to kill him, nor in HBP when Umbridge begins her detentions, they believe DD when he says V is back but do nothing to help Harry when he is being crucified. It seems to me they only get involved when someone else points out that it is too late. BJH
