Chapter Nine
[Peter/Patrick]He swore best friends forever, but he lied. He promised to always be there, but he failed. Now he's sorry and there's a new best friend in town.
?Blocked
Patrick paced back and forth in his room as he held the phone in his hand. He knew things with Cadence had become a little bit strained and he saw her less and less and he really didn't like that. She never called him, never came to see the band practice, and now their first show was coming up and he wanted her to be there. He wanted to attempt to fix their broken relationship. He knew the new relationship he was in was going to take a toll on their friendship, but he never wanted it to be like this.
Giving in, he let his fingers run over the number pad as he punched in the digits. He just knew them so well it was instinct, really.
He tried to pace his breathing as he just listened to the endless ringing of her cell phone. He didn't want to call the house just because he wanted nothing to do with her Uncle. She had a cell phone for a reason.
"Hello?" Cadence's voice almost boomed over the telephone. She sounded like she had been sleeping, yet her voice was still loud.
"Hi, Cadbury, it's me. What are you doing?" He asked as he sat down on the edge of the bed. Her voice was friendly, so he wasn't really worried about her not wanting to deal with him.
Cadence let out a little bit of a sigh. "Hi, Patrick. I was just getting out of bed. What are you doing?" She threw her legs over the side of the bed. She had been up to about four am cleaning everything in sight. She could always sleep later in the morning because her Uncle would be gone.
"Oh, it's like Eleven am. So, do you want to hang out today? Tonight is our first show. I want you to come, and I want to take you to lunch and catch up..." He trailed off.
"Yeah, sure." She nodded as she rolled her eyes as she walked into the bathroom. "Where do you want to meet?"
"Let's meet in front of the movie theater at like, twelve?" He offered. He didn't know if she had to shower or whatever the case may be. He didn't know what had been going on with her recently. He did feel guilty about that.
"Okay, sounds like a date." Cadence nodded and then realized what she had said. "Or, well you know. A plan." She shrugged it off. "I have to hop in the shower, see you after." She said as she had began to turn on the water. The sound could be heard as it was hitting the bottom of the cold tub.
"Okay, bye Cad." He said as he hung up the phone and began to get ready himself. He did feel a lot of excitement build up inside of him. Maybe, more nervousness than excitement. He couldn't place it.
Getting out of the shower, Cadence wrapped a towel around as she stepped out of the shower. Taking another towel she wrapped it around her head as she put her hair inside and stood up again. The beeping of her cell phone starting to sound through the bathroom as it vibrated against the bathroom counter.
Walking over to the phone, she picked it up and looked at the name flashing across the screen. It read Pete. Letting out a little bit of a sigh, she flipped it open and put it to her ear. "Hello?" She sat down on the closed toilet seat lid and crossed her legs.
"Hi, beautiful." He smiled as he heard her voice come through the phone. He had been feening to hear her voice.
"Hi, Pete." She let out a little bit of a laugh. She knew he was full of shit, but still just the way he said it, made her laugh.
"What are you doing, beautiful? Do you want to come over and hang out? And, then go to the show with me tonight?" He asked as he leaned back against his bed. The memories of what they did last time coming into his head. He could never seem to get enough of her and the way she touched his body.
Cadence bit her lip as the thoughts swirled around in her head. She was debating which was more important. She could go out with Patrick and have things be awkward or she could go and work Pete and make him fall in love with her and they could be together.
"Yeah, Pete. I'll be there in a half an hour?" She offered up, not sure with what he was doing that afternoon.
"That sounds amazing." He smiled, laughing as he sat up once again and looked around the room.
"Yeah, and if I was you I wouldn't bother putting clothes on." She smirked as she stood up and looked at herself in the mirror as she ran her fingers through his hair.
"Yeah, you either." He smirked as he could feel the heat start to rise in his body.
"Bye Peter." She laughed as she hung up the phone. She just wanted to get to him already.
Pete smiled at the dead line as he tossed the phone to the side and began to keep himself busy until Cadence would get there and he could get what he wanted, what he craved once again.
Standing in front of the movie theater, Patrick looked at his watch as he let out a sigh. He had been standing there for an hour waiting for Cadence. He was so worried that something had happened to her. Where was she? Would she purposely blow him off? That made no sense. Trying her cell phone a few times he just kept getting her message. That was unlike Cadence as well.
Shaking his head, he knew what game this was. She was trying to get even with him for moving on and getting a girlfriend. She was trying to hurt him for being happy.
Or, at least a part of him hoped for that to be the reason she hadn't shown up and not because something terrible had happened to her. That she wasn't lying somewhere in a pool of her own blood.
He really did hope so.
