A couple of weeks later and Amy's withdrawal symptoms were getting increasingly worse; her dependency on the drug was greater than what Gerard first thought. She became even more fragile than she previously was; she would start to sweat and shake and would barely recognize Gerard holding her. Also the fact that every morning she would wake up needing the vomit into the toilet and Gerard merely stood beside her, holding her hair back and comforting her as the contents of her stomach emptied themselves in the toilet, however this was not one of the symptoms of withdrawal and Gerard began to grow increasingly more worried with each passing day.
"Amy, please, can't you just go and see a doctor?" he pleaded with her after a particularly bad vomiting spell. She sat in silence, her eyes blank and unmoving, one would assume she was dead had it not been for the deep, if arduous, breaths, it might have seemed as though she had not heard him, if not for the barely noticeable shake of the head. Saying nothing she stood up, balancing herself with the shower cubicle and the wall, refusing Gerard's help when he attempting to put his arm around her for support. She walked quickly but silently and once downstairs she settled herself onto the sofa, wrapping her pale arms around her legs and resting her chin on her knees, again she looked vacant.
Gerard sat quietly by the side of her, watching for any sign of movement, he must have been watching for at least 5 minutes before she did anything, which was simply wrapping her arms around him and bursting into tears. Gerard was somewhat shocked at the sudden change in emotion; however he was thankful that she hadn't completely cut him off. It took 10 minutes for her to calm down and after her crying spell was over she attempted to stand up, almost falling over in the process, Gerard having up shoot up and catch her before she crash-landed on the carpeted floor,
"Amy, you have to see a doctor!" He exclaimed as Amy attempted to regain her balance,
"No I'll be fine, it'll pass soon" she attempted to brush away to prospect of seeing the doctor,
"And what if it doesn't?" He reasoned,
"It will" She said, as though it were the most obvious thing in the world, she suddenly looked downcast, "Besides..." she paused,
"What?" he urged her on,
She breathed in deeply, "I think I already know what's wrong with me"
"Go on" he encouraged her,
"I can't be sure though," She said, sitting back on sofa, simply staring at the floor as if it would somehow give her the answers she needed, "Gerard?"
"Yes?"
"You love me don't you?" She asked quietly, her gaze still not turned away from the carpet,
"With every fiber of my being, why do you ask?" He said, no hesitation at all, as he sat down next to her, placing one arm over her slightly shaking shoulders, pulling her fragile body closer to him,
"Would you ever leave me if something that changes both of our lives occurred?" She said, relaxing her head on his chest,
"Of course not, but what are you talking about?" She sighed and pulled away from his embrace, she took his hands and sat directly in front of him, her gaze now focused on his face,
"Gerard..."
