There was glass everywhere. As hard as I tried I couldn't find them. Too many people crowded the streets. I tried calling out their names but there was no response. I started to cry. I was franticly looking for them. All I could see was broken glass and smashed up metal. "Amy?" I hear someone call my name "Amy?" I quickly walk towards where I can hear my name being called. "AMY?" I'm almost there. "Amy!" I wake up to someone shaking me. "Ugg what?!" "Are you ok? You were screaming and crying in your sleep" I reach up and wipe away some of the tears on my cheeks. "I was?" "Yea... You must've had a nightmare or something." Just then is when it clicks as to what I was dreaming about. I start bawling. "Oh my god! Amy what's wrong?" "I remember what I was dreaming about" I say through tears. "What was it?" I sit up next to Joel. "My parents car accident" "O god Amy I'm so sorry" "I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye!" Joel pulls me into a hug and I explain everything that went on that night. Me seeing my parents mangled bodies on the road then them being covered up with blankets because they were dead. Joel just comforts me. After about an hour of crying and explaining everything I pull back from him and say, "I'm sorry about that" I wipe the tears from my eyes. "It's alright. Sometimes you just need to break down and let it all out" I look at him and he smiles. "You're right Joel. Thanks" I hug him and he hugs me back after a little bit of hesitation. He lays his head on my shoulder and holds onto me tighter. We sit there for about ten minutes and then I pull back. "Thanks Joel I really needed that" "No problem" I look him in the eyes and start smiling. Joel does the same then he leans in and kisses me. He pulls back and I just sit there for a second. "Amy I'm soo sorry I really didn't-" I cut him off by kissing him again. I pull back and smile "Ummmm wow" Is all Joel can manage to say. I laugh at him and he starts blushing and grinning. I lay my head down on his shoulder and he puts his arm around my waist. I yawn and Joel lays us both back down on his bed. I rest my head on his chest and instantly fall asleep. I wake up this time more pleasantly to someone kissing my neck and cheek. I open my eyes and smile at Joel who smiles back at me. "Good Morning" I stretch/yawn and say, "Morning" "Did you sleep better the second half of the night?" "Oh yes definitely" "That's good" "Mmhmm" Joel kisses me again. It was just a small peck but it was really cute. I smile at him again. He smiles back then asks, "So Amy... Are we... going out now?" "Only if you want to" "Oh I defiantly want to" I laugh "Ok then yes we are" "Cool" That last word was barely a mumble as Joel kissed me. The door opens and Joel and I break apart. Billy looks at us awkward then says, "Uhh... Did I interrupt something?" "Yes you did! You interrupted a very good make out session" Both Billy and Joel look at me with wide eyes. "I was just kidding," I say while laughing. "Ooooook? Well we have to get going because I have to go to church and Benj and Joel have to get ready too" "O ok" "Are you going to go to church with us Amy?" I look at Joel. "Sure if I can find something to wear" "Awesome! So I will see you at church." He gives me a kiss and I get up. I walk to the door and Billy looks at me weird. I just grin then walk out of the door and down the steps. I walk into the living room and see Paul and Benji sitting on the couch. "Bye guys. It was great hanging out with you" "Yep see you Amy! It was great getting to know you" "Yea speak for yourself" I look at Benji hurt. What the hell did I do to him? "Come on Amy let's go" Billy pushes me out the door before I have the chance to question Benji. Both of us grab our boards and start riding "What the hell is wrong with Benji?" "He doesn't like you" "He doesn't like me?!? What the hell did I ever do to him?!?" "You're taking away his brother AND you turned him down" "I turned him down?" "Yea, remember at the skate park? He was giving you, as you put it 'elevator eyes' and you said 'Dream on buddy'" "Oh yea... Ok so I guess I did turn him down but I got turned down all the time and I never hated... Wait that's a lie. Ok so I guess he does have a reason to hate me." "Yep." Billy and I ride the rest of the way home and I was the first one to get there because Billy is really slow on a skateboard. I can only imagine what he'll be like when he starts driving. I open the door and yell, "Mom we're home!!" Mom comes walking in from the kitchen and says, "Did you just call me mom?" "Yea... Is it ok if I call you that?" "Oh honey yes! It's great!!" She comes over and hugs me. I laugh and hug her back. "So Amy are you going to go to church with us? You don't have to but it would be really great if you would" "Yea I'm going I just have to find something to wear" "Oh that's so great!" She hugs me again. I laugh harder and hug back... again. "Ok you two go get ready and we are going to leave in about half an hour." "Ok" Billy and I walk upstairs and go into our rooms. I look through my closet for something that would be ok to wear to church. I pull out a dress that is a creamish color with black mesh over it. (Me: I was going to buy this dress but I didn't have enough money... I was sad) I put this dress on and go to the bathroom. I brush out my hair and join everyone downstairs. "Amy you look gorgeous" "Thanks Mom" "Yep. Ok come on or we're going to be late." All of us pile into the car and we drive to the church. When we get to the church Robin, Benji, Joel and two other people I don't know are standing by the door waiting for us. All of us get out of the car and go up to Robin and everyone else. "Amy this is my sister Sarah and my other brother Josh" "Hi" I shake both of their hands then mom says, "Ok come on. Don't want to be late" We all walk in and when we get through the doors Joel grabs a hold of my hand. I smile at him and we intertwine fingers. Church went by really fast and before I knew it we were all outside the church saying goodbye to everyone. Joel gives me a kiss on the lips and says, "Do you wanna hang out today?" "Sure but I have to go home and change" "I do too. So I will just meet you at your house in half an hour?" "Yea that works" He gives me one last kiss then gets in his car with his family as I get into our car with mine. We start driving and mom says, "So Amy?" "Yes?" "You and Joel?" "Yea we're going out. Is that ok?" "Oh of course. I would much rather it be him then one of those jock boys" I laugh, "You don't like them either?" "No, actually I despise them very much" "Wow" "What?" "Most parents don't say that. Most parents say, 'Oh I'm sure there's good in them somewhere and if you be nice to them they'll be nice to you'" "We'll they've teased and ridiculed my little William for so long now that I just can't take it" "Mom you are the coolest" She just laughs. We get home and I run up to my room to get changed. I want to look cute but not look like I'm trying hard. I rummage through my closet not finding a thing. I throw my clothes on the floor as I hectically look for something to wear. I can't find a thing. I look at my clock "Ugg Joel is going to be here in ten minutes and I can't find a fucking thing to wear" "Just wear whatever. Joel doesn't care what you look like just as long as he's with you" I turn around and look at Billy "Ok?" "He told me. Well he told me that he just wants to be with you" "Really?" "Yea." Billy leans against my doorframe and says, "He really likes you, you know?" "He does?" "Yea I just don't want you to get hurt so if he does anything, anything at all, let me know and I'll kick his ass" I laugh, go over to him and hug him. "Thanks Billy" He hugs back. "No problem" I go back to my clothes and pick up a black Rancid t-shirt and some tight light blue jeans. I hold them up and ask Billy "What about this?" "That's looks great. I think he'll love it" "Cool and thanks but now I have go get changed so..." "I'll leave" "Thanks" He walks out and shuts my door. I remove my dress and throw it in my clothes hamper. I pull my pants on then inspect my upper body in the full-length mirror I have in my room. I look down and slowly start to trace the red scars that decorate my upper body. "Amy! Joel's here!" "I snap out of my trans and yell, "Thanks Mom I'll be down in a second" I grab my shirt and quickly throw it on. I run down the stairs and greet Joel with a hug. "Hey!" "Hey. So what do you want to do?" "I don't care. As long as we do something." "Ok do you want to go to the coffee shop thing again?" "Is it open on Sundays?" "Oh haha no it's not but there's this really cool park by it. Do you want to go there?" "Sure I'll just have to go ask my mom" "Ok." I walk into the kitchen to find Mom washing dishes. "Mom is it ok if I go to the park with Joel?" "Sure honey, just be back by five. We're going to have dinner at the Madden's" "Ok but instead of coming back here can I just go to the Madden's since it's closer to the park?" "Yes that's fine just be there by five" "Ok I will" I walk out of the kitchen and grab Joel's hand. We lace fingers and I say "Ok let's go" "Ok" "Bye Mom!" "Bye dear" "Bye Lily" "Wait Amy!" Lily comes running down the stairs and hugs my leg "You're going to be eating at Joel and Benji's house right?" "Of course" I crouch down and hug her. "I'll se you at five ok?" "Ok. Have fun Amy" "I will" I stand up and re-lace fingers with Joel. "Shall we go?" "Yes let's" "Ok" We start walking to the door and I turn my head and say "Bye Billy" He just grunts and nods his head. He's watching t.v. if that explains anything. Joel and I walk out the door and start walking down the street to the park. "So Amy. How was your relationship with your parents before they... you know" This question struck me hard. It was too soon to start thinking about my parents. I say, "I really don't want to talk about that" while choking back tears. "Ok I'm sorry. It wasn't my place to bring them up" "It's alright. I just think it's too early to talk about them" I look up at him. I was looking at the ground because I won't let anyone see me cry. I squeeze Joel's hand and say, "It's fine I promise" Joel look at me and then smiles. He kisses me on the cheek then we continue to walk to the park in silence. Luckily it was a comfortable silence. Not one of those annoying awkward silences where you feel you have to say something. We get to the park a moment later and I see the swings. I smile at Joel, let go of his hand and run to the swings. I jumped on a swing and put on my best kiddie smile. When Joel gets to the swing he holds on to the chains just above my head. He looks down at me and then smiles. I smile up at him and ask, "Will you push me?" in a really kiddie voice. Joel laughs and says, "Sure" he walks back behind me and lightly pushes me. He pushes me a couple times and I start giggling like crazy. When I swing back to him he grabs on to my waist. I look up at him and smile. He smiles back then he kisses me. He pulls back then kisses my cheek. He smiles again then kisses my nose. I jump off the swing and Joel lets go of it. I walk around to him and give him a seductive smile. He grins back and wraps his arms around my waist. I light put my arms on his neck. "Wow that gave me goose bumps" I laugh, "I'm sorry" "No, don't be. It was the good kind of goose bumps" "Ok that's good then" "Yep" I smile then lightly caress Joel's lips with mine. I only kiss him for a moment then I pull back and grin at him. "Oh you little tease" I just grin at him and take a step back. Joel takes a step closer to me and I bolt. I run to the jungle gym and climb up it. Joel is right behind me. I read the top and find a comfortable position to sit. Joel comes up and sits next to me. "Wow you run fast" "I do?" Joel tries to catch his breath. "Yea" "I'm sorry" "It's all right" It was silent for a couple seconds then Joel grabs my hand and kisses it. I smile then scoot closer to him. I look him in the eyes and my stomach starts doing flips. He leans forward and kisses me softly. I push up against Joel more and he responds by holding on to my waist. I hold on to his neck with my right hand and Joel runs his hands up and down my sides. Joel rubs his tongue along my bottom lip. I open my mouth and let his tongue explore. "Wow!" I pull back from Joel as my pocket starts to vibrate. It's my phone you perverts! I pull my phone out of my pocket and answer it. "Hello?" "AMY!!!!" I pull the phone away from my ear as I hear five girls yell my name. I put the phone back up to my ear and say "Hey guys. Whatcha doin'? Am I speaker?" "Nothing really just sitting here being bored and yeah you are. How's it going there? We all miss and love you." "Uhh it's going pretty good here. Ok I know I'll get yelled at but who was just talking? Was it my lesbian lover?" Joel looks at me wide eyed and I laugh at him. "Yes this is Lucy. Your lesbian lover." "Ok I thought so" "So what are you doing?" "Nothing just hanging out with my boyfriend" "YOU HAVE A BOYFRIEND?!?" I pull my phone away from my ear again as I get yelled at. I put my phone back to my ear and yell, "OW!" "Hehe Sorry. Alex here. So you have a boyfriend?" "Yep I do" "Oh that's so awesome. What's his name? How did you meet and become a couple?" "Well his name is Joel and he's actually friends with my new brother" "Oh that's cool" "Yep" "Ok Kyle wants to talk to you" "Ok" "Hey so you're boyfriend's name is Joel?" "Yep" "That's cool. Do you have any other friends?" "Well I have Billy who is my new brother, Benji who's Joel's twin brother but he doesn't like me" "He likes you he just-" "Joel shush. "Yea he was giving me the elevator eyes thank for that term Kyle" "Hehe no problem" "Ok anyway he was eyeing me and I said 'See something you like?' and he said 'Damn right' and I said 'Dream on' so yea I turned him down" "Oh that's so cool. I'm so proud of you. This is Jennie by the way" "Ok. But why are you proud of me?" "Because you turned someone down and you got yourself a little boyfriend. How long have you been there?" "Three days" "You did all that in three days?!?" "Yes Kye. I did." "Wow all of us are WAY proud of you" "Uhh Amy we better get going" "Ok. Byes" I hang my phone up and turn to Joel "Lets go" "Ok" Both of us climb down the jungle gym and when we get to the bottom we link fingers. We start walking to Joel's house and he asks me, "So you're lesbian lover? How come I never knew this?" "Well you've only known me for like three days so there's a lot you don't know about me and that subject just never came up" "Well when you were naming them in those pictures you could have told us" "Well that was the first day so I didn't think it would be smart to tell you I was bi and had a lesbian lover" Joel just looks at me "You're bi?" We walk in to his house and go to the kitchen. We see everyone is already sitting down so Joel and I take the two seats that are left. Dinner went by pretty fast. Robin and Mom asked me a couple questions about my life back home and everyone just chatted and ate dinner. After diner all of us kids sat down in the living room and watched a movie. Joel, Billy and I are sitting on the couch, Benji and Sarah are sitting on the love seat thing and Josh and Lily are sitting on the floor. Joel reaches over and intertwines his fingers with mine. I smile at him and as I'm averting my eyes back to the t.v. I glance at Benji. He's glaring at me like he has been all night. I shrug it off and go back to watching t.v. Ten minutes later Mom and Robin come into the living room and Mom says, "Ok it's time to go" Joel, Billy, Lily and I stand up and walk to the door. Joel gives me a hug and says, "Benj and I will come pick you and Billy up tomorrow morning for school ok?" "Ok. I will see you then" "Ok night Amy" "Night Joel. Bye Mrs. Madden, Bye Josh, Bye Sarah, Bye Benji" Everyone except Benji says bye to me. Benji just stares at the t.v. and folds his arms. All four of us get into the car and drive back home. We get inside and Mom says, "Ok everyone to bed. You all have school tomorrow. William right when you get to school please take Amy to Mr. Gilmore's office ok?" "Ok Mom" "Ok everyone get to bed." "Night mom" all three of us respond in unison. We all walk to our bedrooms and say our good nights. I go into my bedroom and pull out some black pajama pants from the second drawer of my dresser. I take off my other pants and put those on. I climb into bed dreading what I'm going to have to endure tomorrow... school. But a smile creeps on my face as I think about whom I'm going to see tomorrow. Shortly after I fall asleep.
