I sleepily slam my hand on my alarm clock. I struggle to find the off switch. Finally I find it and the infernal beeping stops. I roll over and try to go back to sleep. As I start to drift off I hear someone knock on my door. "Ugh What?!" "Amy, are you up yet?" I hear Billy yell. "No" "Well get up and get dressed. We're leaving in an hour" "Grr!" I roll out of bed and go to my dresser. I grab a big Slipknot shirt and some plain black pants. I take them to the bathroom and take a quick shower. After I get out I put on my clothes and do my make up. I throw my long black hair into a ponytail because it will take a LONG time to dry it. I walk downstairs satisfied with my outfit. I walk into the kitchen and see a plate of eggs, bacon, sausage and hash browns that have got my name written ALL over them. I sit down and start eating my food. "Are you ready for your first day of school Amy?" Mom asks, "I guess" Everyone finishes eating right when there was a knock on the door. "That's for us Amy. Lets go." I go into the living room and get all my stuff. I follow Billy to the door. He opens the door and revels a very nice looking Joel. He's got on some big baggy black pants and a Rancid T. "You guys ready?" "Yep" Billy and I answer in unison. "Then lets go" All three of us walk to the van. Joel gets into the driver's seat and Billy and I get in the back. It was only two book so it wasn't that big of deal. I followed Billy out of Mr. Gilmore's office and we walked to my locker. "Here hold these" I hand Billy my books as I open my locker. Everyone was already in their first period so the halls were empty. I grab my books from Billy and throw them into the bottom of my locker. I take my notebook and put it on the to shelf of it. So now the only thing I'm carrying is my purse. Yes I carry a purse even though I don't seem like the type of person who would. I punked it out with some pins and stuff so it's all good! After lunch 5th hour-Biology, 6th hour-English and last 7th hour-P.E. Thank god I have that at the END of the day. After Billy got done showing me my classes the bell rang to go to second hour. So now the only thing I'm carrying is my purse. Yes I carry a purse even though I don't seem like the type of person who would. I punked it out with some pins and stuff so it's all good! After lunch 5th hour-Biology, 6th hour-English and last 7th hour-P.E. Thank god I have that at the END of the day. After Billy got done showing me my classes the bell rang to go to second hour. "So Billbo do I have this class with anyone?" "Yep" "Who?" "Joel and Paul" "Cool. Wait Joel's taking it?" "Yea he failed it last year" "Ohh gotcha" I walk to my locker and open it. I bend down and pick up my History book. I stand back up and feel arms wrap around me. I turn my head and see Joel "Hey" "Hey" He gives me a small kiss and removes his arms. "What class do you have now?" "History" I hold my book up and show him. "Awesome I do too" "Well lets go then" "Ok" He grabs my hand and pulls me to our class. We walk in and Joel takes his seat. I go up to the teacher and say, "Hi, I'm new here so where should I sit?" "Oh well first off let me welcome you to La Plata" "Thanks" "And you can take that seat between Paul and Joel" "Ok" I grin and go sit in my desk "Hey Amy" Paul whispers "Hi Paul" I whisper back. The teacher stands up and starts lecturing about the Civil War. Before I knew it the class was over. I went through school introducing myself to teachers and, in some classes, to the students. Doesn't bug me to do that like it does most people. I was so relieved when n the P.E. teacher said we could go get dressed. I got dressed and walked to my locker. I wait there for everyone else. Billy's locker is right by mine and the twins' lockers are right by his so everyone would be gathering around that area anyway. I wait for what seemed like forever but I knew it was only around five minutes. Finally I see Billy coming out of the sea of people. He approaches me and says, "Hey Amy" "Hey Billbo. Where are the others?" "Paul is getting things out of his locker and..... I don't know where the others are" "Okie pokes" I lie against my locker and close my eyes. I open them when someone pokes my belly. I smile at Joel and say; "Now I'm pregnant" All five guys look at me weird. I laugh and say, "Poking leads to pregnancy" They all continue to look at me weird then they start laughing even Benji started laughing. Paul comes and gives me a hug. "I love you Amy. He's probably just mad because I'm taking away his brother. We all walk out to Joel's van and drive Aaron home. Benji, being the dick he is, said he wanted to go home so Joel, Billy, Paul and I went to our house. I open the door and there, standing in my living room, is Alex, Kyle, Lucy, Jennie and Kye. I scream and run to hug everyone. "Oh my god! How did you guys get here?" "Our parents love us," Lucy states. "Oh you dyed your hair" I play with the bottom of Lucy's shoulder length blue hair. Tears start to form in the corners of my eyes but I blink them away. I swallow hard but my throat is beginning to close off. I take a deep breath and say, "You know what Alex? You're right. I have changed" Alex gets a look of satisfaction on her face "I got rid of ignorant friends like you" I push past everyone and run up to my room. I slam and lock my door. Once safe in my room I just let the tears fall. I can faintly hear Joel yell, "What the fuck is wrong with you Alex?!?" After that I hear someone run up my stairs and knock on my door. "Amy can I come in?" I hear Joel's soft voice call. I stand up and unlock my door. I sit back down and say, "It's unlocked" Joel softly opens my door and says, "Are you ok?" "Talking about your ex boyfriends and shit" "God damn it. I'm going to strangle those girls" I stand up and run downstairs. "What the fuck are you guys saying?" Alex and Kyle look at me a mixture of disbelief and hatred in their eyes. After the shock settled in they leave. I turn to Kye and ask, "Did you talk shit about me too?" "No I was defending you, I swear" "She was" Paul says "God Damn. Why the fuck do they always do that?" I sit down on the couch my head buried in my hands. Lucy comes over and pulls me into a hug. Jennie sits on the other side of me and rubs my back. "You wanna know what I think is wrong with them Amy?" Kye ask. "Sure why not?" "They're mad because you've gained a different life that they aren't in. You've been their sidekick and now that you're gone they don't know what to do. They're used to having that person with that supports them. You may have thought that you were co-dependant on them but really they were co-dependant on you. So now that you're gone and moving on with your life they don't know what to do. The hate that fact that you don't need them." I just stare at Kye. "Wow Kye. Where did that come from?" "Sure do" "Ok then off to the movies before you miss it" "Thanks mom bye" "Bye" Everyone says bye to Mom and we leave. (Oh just so you know Lily is at some camp all week) "Do you think we should go get Benji?" Billy asks. "Oh I don't think that's such a god idea," I say. "Why not Amy?" Lucy asks "Well remember when I was talking to you guys on the phone and I said someone doesn't like me?" "Yea" "That's Benji" "Ohh yea that's right. I forgot" "Yea" "I'll convince him to come with us," Joel says. "Ok fine but I'm staying far away from him" "That's fine" We get to the Madden house and Benji is sitting on the couch watching t.v. "Benj come to the movies with us" "No thanks" "Holy shit are you guys twins?" I laugh at Lucy's dumb question. "Yea we are" Joel says with a smile. "Yea it's so hard to tell that we are" Benji says sarcastically. Before now I've just been hanging in the back not wanting to get into a fight again but I can't take Benji's ignorant attitude anymore. I push past everyone and stand in front of the t.v. "What the hell? Move you fucking bitch!" "No! Benji get whatever it is that's shoved up your ass out and come to the god damn movies with us or else" "Or else what?" "Or else I'll drag you to the movies with us by your ball sack" Benji stands up and walks around the coffee table. "Yea I'd like to see you try" I take a step towards him and grab his balls. He goes upstairs to change and everyone stares at me. I walk downstairs and see everyone waiting for me "So I heard that you tried to look at my brother's balls?" "No he's a dumb ass and forgot to lock the door." "Whatever" Benji mumbles. We all walk outside and get in Joel's van. We drive to the movie house and everyone gets out. You know how in the cartoons all those clowns get out of that itty-bitty car? That's what everyone reminded me of when they were getting out of the van. We walk in and sit down. The previews had already started. The movie gets over quickly and we walk outside and get back in the van. "Anyone else hungry?" Joel asks. Everyone in the van yells, "I am" "Ok who's ok with pizza?" Once again everyone says in the van yells, "I am" Joel drives to the pizza place and get two pizzas: one cheese (for the guys) and one sausage and pepperoni (for the girls). We take the pizzas back home and go upstairs. The girls go to my room and the guys to Billy's. "So Amy tell us again why Benji hates you," Lucy says. "Because I turned him down and I'm taking away his brother. And now he probably hates me because I grab his nuts and I walked in on him while he was pissing. A few seconds later Billy and everyone else walks in. Everyone climbs on the bed and Billy asks, "So who wants to go first?" "I want to go first!" I yell. "Okay. Truth or Dare?" I look at Joel who is also glaring at Billy "Although I really don't want to do this dare, I'm not one to back down from a dare." I crawl over to Benji my face above his crotch. "Shut the fuck up Lucy" Lucy stares at me "I'm sorry that was mean" I apologize. I stand up and walk to the door. "Where ya going?" Paul asks. "I've... gotta go do something" I walk out of Billy's room and go downstairs. I walk into the living room and see Benji sitting on the couch. I clear my throat and Benji looks up. "Ugg. Just leave me alone Amy" Benji groans. "No I won't leave you alone" I walk around the coffee table and sit on the other side of Benji "I want to know why you didn't answer Joel's question" "Just drop it Amy" "No I won't drop it. I want to know why," Benji turns off the TV looking at me. "You want to know why?" I nod, "K I'll tell you why. I didn't answer Joel's question because I'm in love with you Amy. I'm madly in love with you. I've loved you from the first day I saw you. Joel doesn't deserve you. He's just going to hurt you." "Benji you shouldn't talk about your brother like that" "But it's true! He's just going to use you until he gets all he can out of you. Then he'll move on" "That's not true. Joel's not like that" "Yes he is Amy! He's done it to so many girls already. I don't want to see you get hurt by him" "I won't because Joel loves me and I love him" With that I stood up and walked upstairs. I poked my head into Billy's room and said, "I'm going to bed" I shut Billy's door and walk to my room. I lay down on my bed, still fully clothed, and just thought about what Benji said. He can't like me and what he said about Joel isn't true. No way could it be true. Joel isn't like that. He's sweet and caring and would never use a girl. I slowly start to drift off to sleep, those thoughts still running through my head. I wake up when I hear the door open and close. I look at the clock and saw that it was two in the morning. "Did you guys have fun in Billy's room?" "Oh sorry Amy we didn't mean to wake you" Kye apologizes. "It's ok" The girls change into pajamas and crawl into bed with me.
