An insightful little character sketch, but for much of it, this could be any experienced, slightly cheuvanistic guy.
Interesting thing about "calling:" I don't remember seeing phones in FFVII.
Author\'s Response: Thanks for pointing that out. Zack's attitude was meant to set up his persona as an average guy on the prowl to (hopefully) contrast with the potential for something more beneath the posturing. While technically no actual phones were mentioned or used in FFVII, there was the internet and a fair amount of comparable and more advanced technology. There are hi-tech phones aplenty in AC and I doubt two years would be enough for them to pop out of the blue.Whole

It's nice to get a look into a character that we really don't know much about. Zack has always intrigued me but his personality seems to take over and makes it easier for me to right about him personally. I liked this version of him, even if he seemed a bit arrogant but Aeris keeps him in line, good of her. All around nice story.

I really, really liked this. It was so Zack to me. So arrogant and delightful in his arrogance. Good job!
And actually, they did have cell phones, even in the original game. They're called PHS or GMS devices and they work like cells and walkie-talkies. That's how you changed your party members out in the game; Cloud called them on the phone and they switched groups.Author's response
Thank you so much! I do realize the PHS is a phone but the earlier reviewer was being heavy-handed with the 'I don't remember that from the game' in the entire section here at the time. I tried to be diplomatic instead of going for an argument, knowing that Compilation would set her straight eventually.
