Take my Hand
It was a little AM/PM stop where we could fill up on gas and snacks. We were about twenty miles from the next venue but Mikey was complaining about having no coffee on the bus and Ray said he could go with a little fresh air. I wouldn't exactly call it "fresh" with the smell of gas lingering in the air but it was better than nothing. At least it got us off our lazy rock star asses. Being on tour for so long you learn to take advantage of the time you have on the bus, the little amount of time you have to rest before going back onstage. Just like the short period of time you have to yourself before the rest of the guys are squished onto the bus and the oxygen becomes limited with the cramped space. It bothers me most times but lately I've grown accustomed to the closeness with the other guys. Almost as if I'm longing for it. Maybe some more than others but I pushed that thought out of my mind.
Things between me and Frank had changed rapidly. As for the reasons..? I have no clue. But after our little sleepover on the couch last night I woke up with him no where to be found. It's not like sleeping together had meant anything but I'll admit it was the best I've slept in a few weeks. His steady breathing kept perfect rhythm with mine and the warmth emitting from his body kept me comfortable all night. The lack of it is what woke me up so unpleasantly this morning.
I walk off the bus into the humid air. It was a relief to walk back into air condition when I opened the door to the little shop. The rest of the guys were already scattered around looking for anything or everything they felt they needed before hitting the road. Mikey of course was by the coffee pot adding his sugar and cream with Bob close by. Ray was off in the magazine section looking at some teen girl magazine and then there was Frank. Off in the candy isle.
I walked over to where he was standing and mumbled and soft 'morning' to him before searching for a chocolate bar that I realized my stomach and mouth were now craving. He turned his head to look at me and saw the vivid colors in his eyes when they locked with mine. He gave me a small smile and I returned it. Seconds later we both turned back to stare at the sugar coated treats.
I instantly spotted the last of the chocolate and toffee symphony bars and went to grab it....same time as Frank. A little cliché I know, but when our hands touched a strong shock worked its way through my body. I pulled my hand back quickly as my pulse quickened. Could he feel it too or was I just over reacting? I looked over at him confusion obviously written all over my face, to see him grinning like a madman.
"You okay Gerard you seem a little jumpy today" was he mocking me? He was laughing while he said that sentence and seeing the confusion still on my face my tilted his head back towards the candy rack. A smile still plastered on his face. Curiosity now perked I looked over to where all my concentration had just been.
Oh.
Varieties of sweets and chocolates were scattered on the ground and the symphony bar.....was in Frank's hand. I guess the shock scared me a little more than imagined. The candies had clearly fallen off the rack when I pulled my hand away from Franks. Maybe he didn't feel it as I had, but it was so strong.
"Just peachy" I replied.
He laughed before stepping behind me and bringing his body up against mine. My lower back was pressed to his middle. He rested his chin on my shoulder and whispered into my ear. "Hope I didn't make you nervous Way..." his fingers slowly wrapped themselves around my waist pulling me closer into him. "We wouldn't want the heroic singer to get shy around the obnoxious guitarist now would we. Then who would I have fun with while on stage." Before I could reply he was already strolling down the isle to the register. The symphony bar still clutched in his hand.
I looked back down at the candy bars still littered on the ground thinking I should clean it up before anyone else had noticed. But I couldn't exactly get my body to connect with my mind. I was still a caught up in Frank’s deep whisper. And was quickly as it started, it was over.
Yet I could still feel his soft fingers gripped tightly on my waist. A wave of pleasure was sent through my body at that thought and the feel of his body pressed up against mine. I subconsciously told myself not to but I gave into temptation and stole a glance at Frank up at the cash register. I instantly regretted it just as I knew I would. He had beaten me to that as well cause by the time I looked up my gaze was met with his. I could feel sweat beginning to form on my body and blood rushed to my cheeks. He gave me his half smirk that he gives the fan girls all the time. I'd seen it a million times. Only this time it made me weak in the knees. And then he was out the door.
Shortly after Mikey called my name saying to get back on the bus. My craving for chocolate completely forgotten. For the moment.
