Chapter 3
“I’ve been thinking,” William turned to face Julia, who was sitting on the other side of the couch. She licked the pause button on the remote to pause the Lost Boys DVD that they were watching and turned to face him. “You should come with us on the tour.”
She just stared at him for a minute, a million thoughts racing through her head. She had been living in his house for three days now, and had made arrangements with her mom to move into her house at the end of the week, when Will and the other guys would be leaving for their three month tour.
"That’s a serious suggestion, you know,” he said, “I think it would be fun to have you around. You already know the guys, and we have an extra bunk on the bus. Besides, it’ll give you a chance to do some traveling.”
"Have you discussed it with the others?”
“Well, not yet, but you’re friends with all of them, so I don’t see why it would be a problem.”
“It would be really fun. I just think you should ask the guys first.”
“Okay, I’ll do it now.” He flipped open his cell phone and proceeded to call Mike, The Butcher, Sisky, and Michael. All of them agreed that it would be fun to have Julia around. “See? I told you they would want you there!” William said as he hung up the phone after his last conversation.
Julia launched herself across the couch to Will and flung her arms around his neck, practically laying on top of him. He hugged her back and she pulled him up off the couch and started jumping up and down. “Oh, I’m so happy!” she squealed.
“I could tell,” he laughed at her while she continued jumping up and down, her brown ponytail bobbing up and down.
She stopped jumping and put her hands on his shoulders (a hard task as he is almost a foot taller then she is), and suddenly burst into tears, “It just that everything is happening. Everything is happening, and it’s so good. A week ago I hated my life, I was bruised from head to toe, and I couldn’t think of a way out. Now I’m out of that life, living with my best friend, and about to go on tour with my favorite band. I couldn’t ask for a better life.”
Will, a little shocked that she had gone from a jumping, happy girl to a crying, emotional girl in a matter of seconds, took a deep breath and then pulled her into another hug. He couldn’t think of what else to do.
A few moments later she regained composure and jumped back from him. “I have to go pack!” she squeaked and ran off to the bedroom, leaving Will with a confused look on his face. ‘What the hell just happened?’ he thought to himself as he started to walk after her.

“Is that it?” Michael asked Julia four days later as he piled her two small suitcases into the luggage truck that would be traveling with them.
“Yup, that’s it. Well, and my book bag, but that’s staying with me.”
“You travel light for a girl.”
“And what is that supposed to mean Michael?” She playfully slapped his arm and walked over to Sisky and Jon Walker, who were standing with three guys she didn’t know.
“Hey Darling,” Sisky gave her a quick hug, “I guess I’d better introduce you to Panic! At the Disco, since they’re going to be traveling with us for the next three months. Brendon, Ryan, Spencer, this is Julia, she’s a friend of the band.”
All three guys shook her hands and the one named Brendon caught her eye and winked, making her blush a violent shade of red. He was cute after all, with his dark hair and big lips.
They all made small talk and until it was time to get on the buses. “What’s that guy Brendon’s deal?” Julia asked William as she sat next to him on the couch.
“Oh Jules, don’t tell me you like Brendon,” he cradled his forehead in his hand.
“I don’t like like him. I just met him! I just want to know what’s up with him is all. Like, does he have a girlfriend or what?”
“That question sure makes it seem like you ‘like like’ him.”
“It’s just a question William. Will you please answer it?”
“FINE!” he was clearly annoyed, “He’s single, but watch out, because Brendon’s a player.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“It means that he’ll sleep with anyone who has breasts and shows any signs of liking him. So just because he shows a little bit of interest in you, don’t think he really likes you.”
“What if he does really like me?”
“He doesn’t!” he was even more annoyed at her then before.
“Fine! Whatever William!” she huffed, annoyed that he was annoyed and that he had practically just insulted her. She walked out of the little living room area and to the back of the bus, where the rest of the band was hanging out. “Why does he have to be such a prick?” she asked to no one in particular
“What happened?” Mike asked.
“All I did was ask a simple question about Brendon and William gets all pissed off. I really don’t understand it.”
“I think maybe he’s just having a bad day,” Mike answered, knowing it wasn’t the truth. He exchanged knowing glances with the other guys. The last time Will had acted this way was when he found out that Julia and Nick were moving in together. He had been in a pissy mood for more then a month after hearing the news.
Later that evening the busses stopped at a roadside diner for dinner. William was the last to exit the bus, and when he walked into the diner, noticed that Julia was nestled into a booth seat with Brendon sitting next to her and Jon and Sisky sitting across from her. Brendon had just said something that had made her laugh and her face was broken into a huge grin as she giggled at what he had said. He had his hand resting on her knee. When she saw Will, she stopped laughing and sadness filled her eyes. She didn’t want to fight with him. He was, after all, one of her oldest friends. He had always been there for her through thick and thin, and here they were, four hours into the road trip of their lives, and already fighting. She tried to wave him over to the table, hoping he would pull a chair up, and he ignored her and sat at another booth with Spencer, Mike, Ryan and The Butcher.
Over the course of the dinner Julia forgot about the incident with William and got to know Brendon better. He made her laugh and she liked that, coming out of a relationship that was the furthest thing from a barrel of laughs. “Why don’t you guys all come over and hang out on our bus for the rest of the night,” Brendon suggested to his table, “then we’ll pull over sometime later on the side of the road, and everyone can switch back to their own bus again.”
Everyone agreed and headed over to the Panic! Bus for the evening. “What do you guys want to do?” Spencer asked on the bus. “We have movies, we have video games, we have cards, music, whatever you want.”
“Let’s play Truth or Dare,” Brendon grinned mischievously.
“Aren’t we a little too old for that?” asked Michael.
“Too old to play Truth or Dare? You’re never too old for a good game of TandD,” said The Butcher.
They took out one of Ryan’s hairspray bottles and used it as the spinner, each taking a turn and doing typical truths and dares such as “I dare you to eat this disgusting combination of food” or “Have you ever kissed someone of the same sex?”
It was Brendon’s turn to spin and the bottle cap pointed at Julia. “Truth or Dare?” he asked her.
“Dare.”
“Okay my dear, I dare you to kiss me,” a playful grin spread across his face.
“I bet you do,” she grinned also and leaned across the circle of people, their lips touching midway. The softness of his lips surprised her, and she was even more taken aback when his tongue slipped into her mouth for a second before returning to his own. Nobody except Mike noticed when Will excused himself to “go to the bathroom”.
