  I find the ending to be a downer, they just caved. Went along. They should have either left the country or just killed Ron and Ginny and made it very public what had been done and that further attempts to control them would result in them utterly destroying magical Britain.

  I understand your point of view, but the point of the story (for my writing it, that is) was to figure out some way to understand how that awful 'canon' epilogue came about

  Am surprised and a bit upset, given the revelation, that Hermione had anything to do with Ron in the final chapter. Personally, I find sharing with Ron tantamount to Harry being cuckolded 48 months of the year. Harry easily could have kept Hermione as wife, Ginny as a concubine (or just as a house-servant whom Harry could enjoy, which would be appropriate given the forced bond and jealousy potions that put everyone into the situation; she was the only one to make her own bed), and Luna as whatever Luna wanted (friend, FWB, concubine). .... the fact that Ron largely escaped public humiliation despite betraying Harry (his liege lord) and Hermione (his bond-mate) and apparently only returned because if he didn't he'd be killed, and DIDN'T tell anyone what Bill had revealed, is VERY telling regarding his motivations.

  Thanks for reading these old stories. This one was obviously written directly after the release of book 7, trying to reconcile what I thought was a terrible ending with how I thought of the characters at the time
