The first time Kantarou climbed onto Haruka's back was not premeditated. It seemed a perfectly reasonable thing to do -- he needed to travel quickly, Haruka could fly. Then Haruka spread his wings and leapt into the sky, shrugging his shoulders at the unfamiliar weight. Kantarou nearly fell off, and as he caught his breath, Kantarou found that his hands, white-knuckled, were clutching at Haruka's coat, twisted in the cool material.
Haruka could feel his grip, he knew, and the trembling of his body perched precariously on the tengu's back. Kantarou exhaled, let go. "That way," he ordered, pointing.
