An American Wizard in Hogwarts

Well, the reference here to HItchhiker's Guide..." is clearly the number "42" in the name of the broom. The only better one I've seen is in Meteoric Shipyard's "Luna's Hubby" where Harry gets a "Fireball XL5".
I liked this and the varied reactions of all the characters to being new at Hogwarts and their first classes. I daresay Harry's definitely a lot more active a person here and I like that. The line about all the Purebloods moving to Arkansas was a hoot, though I'm not sure I'd even wish -that- on Arkansas, though it -might- be suitable revenge on Hope, AR for their "gift" to America.Author's response
You were correct. I don't want to give up to much. I will say that I have an idea for a hex that comes from the stage name of one of the members of GWAR, Flattus Maximus. I think you can guess what it does. I don't know who it will be used on, or when, but it will be used.
I don't understand the "Fireball XL5" thing. or Hope, Arkansas, for that matter. An American Wizard in Hogwarts

Ah, "Fireball XL5" was a Gerry Anderson-produced children's show in the 1960's, shown both in the UK and the US. I thought that was a cute touch on the part of that author.
Hope, AR is, sadly, the birthplace of William Jefferson Clinton, the only president to eclipse, IMHO, Warren Gamaliel Harding for the title of "Worst US President of the 20th Century" (considering his administration pulled off, without major public notice, the same stunt whose attempt by Harding's administration (i.e. selling the Teapot Dome oil reserves to a private company - in this case, a company the VP had a strong stake in, Occidental Petroleum) led to all sorts of scandal, I stand by my assessment).Author's response
Haliburton. That is all.
Clinton was a damn sight better than Dubya. If you Dubya squandered the first surplus in over ten years, and cut taxes despite a budget deficit. If you honestly makes for a good president...An American Wizard in Hogwarts

The references to gridiron are very annoying, though I suppose you need them. It would be much better if the Muggle sport they're playing was actually an interesting one, like football, rugby, or baseball.Author's response
Your forgetting: to me it/is/ football. It's violent, bloody, and a whole lot of fun to charge at someone and hit them when you're both going full tilt.
I make jokes about it too, and I only refer to it sparingly.
As for your list of 'interesting' sports, soccer is actually the most popular sport in America...amongst people under the age of 14. Rugby is a slower, less violent precursor to American football, and baseball is, as my dad says, like watching paint dry.
