Pete smiled and took hold of Casey’s hand, walking with her along the ramp that led out to the dock, trying to ignore the thudding of his heart in his chest. Casey smiled up at him as they walked and took her hand from his so he could slide his arm around her waist as they walked, pulling her a little closer so that their hips were touching every other step. He looked up at the overcast sky and hoped with how thick the clouds looked, that they could hold off a little bit longer. When they finally reach the dock, he walked with her under the covered part of the dock to the uncovered part where the railing was.
They leaned against the rail together and Pete pulled Casey closer so that her side was against his, his arm wrapping around her shoulders and her arm wrapping around his waist. They smiled at each other and chuckled at how goofy it was before they shared a soft kiss.
“So, bring me out here for a little privacy?” Casey asked, suggesting at the last time, but her tone teasing.
Pete chuckled. “Damn, you have me figured out,” he answered, his tone humored but sarcastic.
“Don’t you get all sarcastic with me Mr. Wentz,” she giggled, squirming when his arm moved and his fingers lightly teased the side of her neck. “And don’t you dare or I swear I’ll through you into that river.”
Pete laughed softly before he leaned down and brushed his lips against hers. “Casey...” He turned so he was facing her and gently turned her so she could be facing him, his hands taking hold of hers as he looked at her. “Casey I have something important I need to ask you.”
Casey gave a confused look as she stared at him. “What is it Panders?” She asked, part of her wondering what that weird noise was that she was starting to hear. It seemed to be moving closer.
“Casey, I wanted to know if-” He let out a startled yelp when the sheet of rain that had been moving their way finally hit and started raining down on them. He grabbed her hand, both laughing now as they made a quick dash to the covered part of the dock when it sunk in that they were getting drenched.
Casey laughed as her and Pete came to a slow halt under the covered part of the dock, smiling up at him as he laughed as well. “Am I the only one who feels a little stupid for not recognizing the sound of rain over water?” She asked, laughing more when Pete shook his head, laughing harder as well. “Well at least cover wasn’t very far away,” she giggled, her laughter slowly dying down.
Pete smiled as he stared at Casey, taking in the rain dampened hair that was already slightly matted to part of her face. He brought his hand up and gently moved it from her face, pausing to cup her cheek and brush his thumb over her cheek bone. His laughter was long gone now as he took every bit of her in, falling all over for her as he took in the sight of her.
Casey leaned her face into his hand, her eyes staying with his as they shared a smile. “Baby, what did you want to ask me?”
“Will you marry me?” He blurted out without any form of hesitation or worry.
Casey found herself startled and caught off guard. She definitely wasn’t expecting a marriage proposal from him, especially since they hadn’t even been together a full year yet. “What?”
Pete reached in his pocket and took out the small black velvet box that he was thankful she hadn’t noticed. “I want you to marry me,” he stated as he opened the box and turned it so she could see the ring inside. It was simple, nothing flashy, and perfect for her. The band was white gold, since he knew she hated yellow and rose gold, and the small gem was a Mystic Fire Topaz, since he knew she loved the gem. “Please Casey, say yes...”
Casey stared at the ring for a good long moment before she looked up at him, her eyes growing misty. “Are you sure you want to marry me?”
He closed the box and put it back in his pocket, taking her hands in his once more. “Casey, I love you. I love you more than I have ever loved any girlfriend, you make me happier than when I’m on stage, I don’t care about your past, or anything else. I care about and love you for every little detail. Flaw or perfection, you’re perfect for me baby. I trust you. I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” He smiled as he kissed the top of her head, a thought coming to his mind. “Casey I want to have a family with you. I want a son I can teach the sneer to.”
Casey smiled slightly. “And if we were to have a girl?”
“I’d buy a shotgun and get some target practice,” he said with a ridiculously huge smile. “Please Casey. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and raise a family, even if we only have one kid or two, I don’t care how many. But please, Casey, say you’ll marry me,” he said softly as he pulled her close, smiling again when she wrapped her arms around him and nuzzled into his shoulder.
Casey stayed in his arms, thinking about what he had said, what he was asking, what he wanted; with her. “Pete...”
He looked down at her as she looked up at him. “Yes baby?” He closed his eyes as she leaned up and kissed him softly, her arms going around his shoulders. He moaned softly as she deepened the kiss, running a hand through his hair. He smiled down at her when she broke the kiss, smiling up at him.
“I can think of a couple of people who are going to have a heart attack when I tell them I’m marrying you,” she said, giggling when he picked her up and spun her real quick before he set her down and kissed her with so much love and passion it sucked the breath from her lungs.
Pete rubbed her back as he held her close, breaking the kiss to smile down at her. “I love you Casey.”
“I love you too Pete.”
Pete moved away and took out the ring box, sliding the ring from inside onto her finger and placing a kiss to the back of her hand, his eyes locked with hers as she watched him. He looked at the ring on her finger, smiling at how it looked against her skin. “Perfect.”
Casey nodded in agreement as she brought her hand up, looking at the ring with a small smile. “I’m just curious as to how you knew my ring size when I don’t wear any rings.”
Pete smiled innocently. “Your grandmother has the same size hands as yours.”
Casey stared at him. “My gram knew you were going to propose?”
“She gave me her blessing and helped me pick out the ring when I took her for a ride in the car,” he answered, chuckling.
“Conspired against by my own grandmother,” Casey said, smiling when he pulled her into his arms again.
“Like you really mind,” he chuckled before he leaned down to kiss her once more.
