Chapter 2

Kendra’s POV

It has been a month since our visit to Chicago. I decided to move with Brendon to Chicago while the band records. We found an apartment, but the problem was that it wasn’t going to be ready until two weeks after we needed to be there. Brendon asked Patrick if we could stay with him. Why him? Anybody but him. Of course, Patrick being the nice guy he is said yes. How am I going to handle the next two weeks.

“So, this is going to be your bedroom. I hope it will be alright?” “Don’t worry about. Patrick, it’s fine.” I said. “Yeah. I won’t be here much.” Brendon said. “Alright. I have to make a few phone calls. Make yourself at home.” “Thanks again.” I said. Patrick smiled at me.

I turned to Brendon. He was unpacking. I went to him and gave him a hug. “Are you happy to be here?” He asked. “Yes. I know I didn’t want to at first, but I’m glad I’m here.” “Good. Why don’t you lay down for a little bit. I have to go to the studio for a little bit.” “I am tired. I’ll see you later.” I kissed Brendon and he walked out of the bedroom.

I crawled into the bed. It felt so good to just relax. I feel asleep. Next thing I knew someone was calling my name. I opened my eyes. “Finally. You sure sleep tight.” “Patrick, what’s wrong?” “Nothing. I just wanted to know if you wanted some supper. Brendon called and said he’s going to be at least another two hours.” “Oh. Okay.”

I sat up in the bed and ran my fingers through my hair. “You look pretty with your hair all messed up.” I looked at him. Was he serious? “Um, thanks.” I knew I was blushing. “I better go. If you need to use the washroom it’s down the hall.” “Thanks.” Once Patrick left I was able to breathe. I went to the washroom and splashed some water on my face.

I walked to the kitchen. “What are you making?” I asked. “Me? I thought you were going to cook.” “Funny, Mr. Stump.” “I do have enough stuff to make a pizza.” “That sounds good.” We got out everything we needed. I cooked the sausage while Patrick looked for the pan and made the dough. For some reason this felt so right. After the sausage was done I went to help Patrick. He was having difficulty with the dough.

“Need some help?” “Doe it look like it?” “Here, let me help you.” I started to roll the dough out. “See, it’s not that hard.” I touched Patrick’s nose and got flour on it. I laughed. “Oh, that’s it.” Patrick put his hands into the flour and threw it at me. “Patrick! What are you doing?” I ran around the island in the kitchen. “You can’t get away from me.” He walked toward me. I ran and grabbed a handful of flour. He kept walking. I threw it at him. “Okay. Stop. I promise not to throw anymore.” Patrick said. “Promise.” “I promise.”

Patrick walked to me. “Can I have a hug? A truce.” “Sure.” Patrick put his arms around and put flour down my back. “Damn you, Stump.” I shook the flour out of my shirt.

“What’s going on here?” Both Patrick and I turned out heads. “Brendon, your home.” “I ran to him. “Oh, no. Your full of flour.” “Come on.” I hugged him. “Thanks. So I take it supper is going to be late.” “A little.” Kendra why don’t you take a shower. I’ll get the pizza done and clean up.” “You sure.” “Yeah.” I kissed Brendon. “I’ll be back.”

Brendon’s POV

Walking in and seeing my girlfriend and Patrick almost in each others arms made me sick. I know nothing is going on, but still. “I can help you clean up.” “If you want. I have a few more toppings to put on the pizza. The broom is over there.” He pointed to the corner.

I started sweeping. “So, how was your day?” “Good. We have a lot of songs. I think we narrowed it down to 15. When are you going in the studio?” “Probably, tomorrow.” “Great. I can’t wait for you to hear the songs.” Something was wrong with Patrick. “Is everything alright?” “What? Uh, yeah. Why?” “I don’t know. You just seem on edge since I got here.” “No, I’m fine.” Patrick started wiping the counter. I knew something was wrong. He wouldn’t even look at me.

Patrick’s POV

After everything was cleaned up we had the pizza and Brendon and Kendra watched some TV. I went into my office. I needed to get away. I wanted them there, but it was going to be a long two weeks. It felt great having Brendon and Kendra over. I was falling in love. It had to stop. It would ruin our friendships. Pete would be bitching at me for months about breaking them up. Just one night. That’s all I would want. But I know that it wouldn’t be enough. There was a knock on my door.

“Yeah.” It was Kendra. “Patrick, I’m going to go to bed. Have a good night.” “You too. See you in the morning.” After she left I put my head in my hands. I was going to ruin one or both of their lives. “Help me.”
