The large golden moon rose high over the tall pine trees and even taller mountains, its cool white glow bathing everything with a soft blue light as a breeze smelling of coming rain ruffled the late autumn leaves that still clung stubbornly to the old oak trees. But the dark haired young woman didn't notice; she was a bit preoccupied, what with running in terror and all. Her feet seemed to make no noise over the sound of flapping wings. The long flowing skirts causing her numb and bare feet to stumble over unseen twigs and rocks as she dodged between tall trees, small saplings and fragrant shrubs, her hair catching on branches and bushes and she ran. Bursting into a small open valley with only a few trees sprinkled around, the thick thigh high grass tickling her legs through the sheer fabric of her skirts and slowing down her flight. The beating of the wings grew fainter, almost unheard, and she dared to look behind herself, but what she saw made her scream out in fear.

At first she could see nothing, but an instant later she saw it, its six glowing red eyes burning with a depth of hatred which she couldn't fathom shining out from a dark green scaled face. As its large leathery wings lifted it higher up in the sky she could see it could have been mistaken as a dragon, with its mouth stretching from one ear to the other, but when opened it showed multiple rows of sharp, serrated, shark-like teeth with a black forked tongue darting out to taste the air like a snake. She could see her reflection in its silver claws as it got closer, a siren like blast escaping from the thing as its thick tail slammed into her, driving inch long spikes into her flesh as it knocked her to the ground. Holding her breath she bit back a whimper as blood welled in her wounds and stained her dress black in the moon light, her eyes scanned the sky for the creature, though she could hear its grunting as it searches for her over the sound of its massive wings, but through the grass the circled her she could not see it. Gasping for air as the ting mover farther away she stood back up, clutching her skirts she glanced around for the abomination. Only to have her feet slip out from underneath her as the brute suddenly landed before her, and with a small scream her head it the not-so-soft ground, knocking the air from her lungs and casting stars before her eyes. Struggling to breathe she couldn't move as the thing place its large clawed foot over her body, pinning her to the cold ground. Squirming around she tried to make herself to hard to hold onto. But it only tightened its grip and laughed at her feeble attempt to escape, its fetid breath chocking her.

A barking noise rolled out from its throat as it snapped its many teeth at her, and she froze in terror as she looked deeply into its eyes, she could almost read its mind, it meant to kill her, but not quickly, no, it would make it last...

Trying to breathe in enough air to scream she was blinded as a sparkling ball of white light struck the hellish beasts side. Turning its massive head the creature snarled; its horrible breath that stunk of a thousand rotting corpses clouding in the cold crisp air as it searched for the source of the light. Within seconds two more balls of light collided with the animal, knocking it off her, giving her time to scramble away to one of the few trees in the clearing and to crouch down behind the bush that surrounded it. The sound of the fiend standing back up and stomping around the valley filled the night air before it began screaming like a banshee, however that was soon followed by the sound of it crashing to the ground not more then ten feet from her.

Backing away she turned and ran toward the copse of trees, only to skid to a halt and fall to the ground, the tall grass brushing against her cheeks as she watched a cloaked form step out of the dark, twisted mass of trees. The figure seemed to float on air as it approached her, green eyes glowing from under the cloaks hood.

She could feel the cold dew that still clung to the thick grass seeping through the fabric of her dress as a chilling wind picked up, swirling her hair around her fact. As she sat mutely studying the being before her the first drops of rain began to fall as a bone while had stretched out toward her from under the cloak. Feeling as if she wasn’t moving on her own volition she watched as her hand reached out to take the offered one, which was colder then ice and as hard as stone, and she was pulled swiftly to her feet, but was suddenly released to stumble back, falling and falling but never touching the ground.

With a startled gasp I woke to find Bobbi hovering over me. “Two things luv. One,” she held up her index finger. “Dinner is done and you need to play hostess. And two,” she lifted her pinky finger and threw a hoodie at me. “Stop your screaming you’re scaring the straights.”

Muttering peevishly under my breath I zipped the black hoodie up and followed her, pulling my hair into a messy pony tail as we left my room.

When we reached the kitchen I let Bobbi lead the way to the large dinning room where everyone was. Everyone but Gerard and Bob were there. Sitting between Mae and Nixa I looked around that table at everyone. My first impression of Ray was that he had the weirdest hair I had personally ever seen. He had a major afro going, but it looked okay on him, and his lips were so full any woman getting botox would envy them. He also sported hazel green eyes. What was it with guys from Jersey having hazel eyes?

While the food was passed around to everyone I got lost in thought, tugging at the keys around my neck. When I had that dream it wasn’t the first time, but it had gotten got more vivid, I could still feel where the thing had hit me in the back. I had some many questions running through me head. Was the beast from my dream what was in the basement? Who was the cloaked figure? Where these dreams prophetic? What I can remember about them was that they had started right after my Grandmother had entrusted me with the necklace with the two keys hanging off it. One to the cellar door and one that would unlock the cell at the bottom. She never warned me about the connection that would form between me and the creature locked with in my home, always knowing when someone was near it, or knowing every emotion it felt, thought it seemed anger was the only emotion it knew how to feel. At the time I guessed that if I was locked up, the only thing I would feel would be anger as well, though that’s not what I feel at the moment. I would have been very pissed at her if it hadn’t been for the fact she was dead, and its wrong to think ill of those who have passed.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by someone screaming at the top of their lungs outside. Everyone at the table turned in their seats to face the window that the voice was coming from. Jumping from my seat I looked at Bobbi, silently telling her with my eyes to keep everyone in their chairs. Quickly leaving the room I rushed into the kitchen and pulling a long knife out of the drawer near the stove I crept out into the dark night.
