Lifting the knife I slowly sat up and started to slide off the sofa when the bedside lamp came on and I quickly pulled the knife up my sleeve again as I watched frank stand looking down at Gerard, his hand against the uncut cheek. There was something weird about the look Frank had given him, but I couldn‘t put my finger on it at the time. But I knew he wasn‘t the one who called the Edindal. “He’s going to be fine you know.” I said as I stood and stretched, careful not to cut myself on the blade. With a gasp and a jump he turned to look at me, a hand to his heart and glare on his face. “You almost gave me a heart attack!” he whispered loudly. The glare vanishing as he looked back at his friend. Walking to the bed I leaned against the footboard and watched him, wondering what was going on in his head, only looking away when he turned and caught me eye. “So how’s your head doing?” he asked nonchalantly as he moved to lean against the end of the bed with me. Reaching up self consciously I touched the lump that was still there. “It’s doing well. What did I hit when I fell?” I looked at him out of the corner of my eye as he leaned his watched me openly. “The table. You know, that was the first time a girl who has fainted because of me almost killed herself. If you had hit any harder Bobbi said you could have cracked your skull.” He was now smiling. Me fait because of him? Ha! “Ha! I passed out, and even if I did faint, it wouldn’t be because of you. Sorry baby, you‘re not my type, never was, never will be.” Oh that came out a little harsher then I wanted it to, but he only laughed, a hand to his heart again. “You wound me.” Rolling my eyes I made a face as I watched him pull out a cigarette and light it. “Those things will kill you know.”
“Health is merely the slowest possible rate at which a person can die.” Came a pained response.
We both turned to look at Gerard who was trying to sit up. As Frank rushed to his side I walked around the bed to the side I had sat on earlier, glancing at the clock on the table and the little red numbers glared 3 am back at me. Sitting down at the foot of the bed I watched Gerard struggle to sit up with Franks help. After he was propped up with a few of his pillows he began to take stock of his injuries, touching his chest with a soft whimper and lifted up the blanket to look at his legs and his near naked body then looked to me and raised one of his eyebrows. “In your dreams.” Snatching his last pillow I stuffed it behind my own back against the footboard. As he stole Franks cig’ and took a long drag. “So,” he said as he blew the smoke out slowly. “What hit me?”
Before I could answer Frank did. “Mountain lion.” he used little quotation marks in the air. The two exchanged a look then turned to me. “Okay, what do you think it was?” I spoke in a grudging tone as I crossed my arms and watched them.
“Well,” started Gerard as Frank made his way around to my side of the bed and sat down next to Gerard, their shoulders touching. I kept my face stoic at this when he spoke again. “From the look of the thing, I’d say it was a demon.” I only blinked once. Inside my head my mind was screaming. Gerard Way has the ‘sight’! Shutting up the little fan girl I coughed lightly into my hand. “A demon?” At his nod I sighed, which came out more of a squeak, and fell backward, my body limp and my head hanging back over the footboard. My god, I didn’t know what to do, did I tell them… or should I pretend I have no clue what the hell they were talking about.
“You think she passed out?” I heard Gerard ask, concern in his voice.
“Let me check.” I felt the bed move as Frank came toward me. I was expecting to be poked, or tickled, not to have him lean over me and begin to kiss my neck I gave a half gasp, half moan, “never say never.” he whispered to me before I shoved him away from me, but before he moved he bit down lightly, but with that simple intimate touch I could tell he had second site as well. With my cheeks as red as roses I shook a finger at him as I fought down my blush. “Bad Frank, bad!”
He just laughed and sat back by Gerard again. Moving my legs so I was sitting Indian style I rested an elbow on my knee and lowered my head to pinch the bridge of my nose, my neck still tingling. After a few minutes of silence, both their eyes on me and mine tightly shut I finally spoke again “Okay yes, you where attacked by a demon.” Looking up at them I crossed my arms over my chest. “What I want to know is who did you piss of that would send that kind of demon after you?” Frank and Gerard exchanged looks and Frank shrugged and leaned a little more against him.
Apparently Gerard was like me. Instead of being born with the sight working his was dormant and he also found a book with the spell in it. But unlike me, he went looking for it. He had been 19 at the time and when he looked around himself after the spell her could see them, lurking around. It was about that time he bought and Athame, that’s a magical dagger that can kill demons and most other beastie’s and protects the owner, to bad he didn’t have it on him that night, however, and he didn’t really expect to be attacked here. Anyway After that he became a demon hunter. I couldn’t help but laugh at that, I don’t know why, but at the time it struck me as funny.
Yawning largely I stretched again and turned to slip off the, throwing the pillow I had used at Frank. “I’m going to be now,” I pointed at Frank. “It’s your turn to watch him.” walking to the door I looked at it, growling as I noticed the lock was broken. Shaking my head I left, closing the door quietly behind me and made my way to me room, I needed a shower and a change of clothes. Walking through the kitchen I was tempted to put the razor sharp knife back in the drawer, but thought better of it.
Once in my room I pulled the blade from my sleeve and slid it under my pillows before grabbing a pair of men’s boxers and a tank top and heading to the bath room. Stripping off my clothed I stuffed them in my hamper and then began to take my jewelry off, all 4 of my rings and both my pentacle necklace and the chain that held the keys. Once under the scalding hot cascade of water I sat on the floor of the shower and hugged my legs to my chest, rubbing a hand over Franks bite mark. I didn’t take long in the shower, so after rinsing all the conditioner out of my hair I reached out my hand for a towel and turned off the water. Drying myself off I reached for the chain with the keys and found it wasn’t there. Searching everything frantically I looked up at my foggy reflection in the mirror and yelled.
“Fuck!”
Someone had stolen the keys….
