Chapter 9
Patrick’s POV
Kendra was still in my arms in the morning. I hardly slept. I didn’t know if I should say anything to her. I moved my arm from under her and got out of bed. I pulled some jeans on and walked to the kitchen. I made some coffee.
“Patrick.” I turned around. Kendra was standing behind me in my t-shirt.
“Hi. Do you want some coffee?”
“Sure. Are you mad?” She wrapped her arms around me waist.
“I enjoyed last night.” I moved out of her arms.
“Patrick, what’s wrong?”
“Did you forget about Brendon? What are you going to tell him? Was this just a one time thing?”
“I don’t know. I still love Brendon.”
“I know you do. You want to know how? Because you called me Brendon.”
“What? No.”
“Yes, when you went to sleep you said I love you, Brendon.”
“Oh, my god. I’m sorry. Please forgive me.” I couldn’t say anything. I wanted to be mad, but yet I couldn’t.
“What the hell are we going to do?”
“I don’t know. I’m scared. I love Brendon, but also you.”
“Do you really?”
“Do I really what?”
“Love me.”
“I, I thought I did.”
“Is it because Brendon has been busy and isn’t here.”
“Maybe. I don’t know. When you came to Las Vegas I fell for you.”
“I wish we knew what to do. This is so messed up.”
“I’m going to tell Brendon. He’ll need to know. I can’t keep this from him.”
“If you think it’s best. If you want I can talk to him.”
“No. You seen how he acted when you met with him.”
“I guess your right. If you need me for anything, I’m here for you.”
She walked to me and pressed her lips on mine. My mind was screaming no. I lifted Kendra u and she wrapped her legs around my waist.
“We have to stop. We can’t do this again.”
“Patrick, take me.”
There was a knock on the door. I placed Kendra on her feet and answered the door.
“Pete, what are you doing here?”
“Thought I would check up on you.”
“Oh, well, come in.”
Pete’s POV
I walked inside of Patrick’s apartment.
“Hi, Kendra.”
“Hi, how are you?”
“Fine. Did I disturb anything?” I looked between them.
“No, why?”
“I don’t know. Just thought I was.”
“I’m going to take a shower and get dressed.” Kendra left and went to the bathroom. I turned to Patrick.
“What the fuck are you doing?”
“What?”
“You heard me.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Kendra is walking around in your t-shirt, both of you look like you want to disappear, and you just have jeans on. You never walk around without a shirt.”
“Okay. Yes, we slept together.”
“Fuck. What the hell, Trick?”
“We went out to eat and when we came back here she attacked me.”
“What? So you had no say?”
“No, but I didn’t start anything. I asked her a couple times if it was what she wanted.”
“What about Brendon?”
“I don’t know. She’s going to tell him.”
“Someone needs to open their mouth and say no. I think that needs to be you.”
“Why me?”
“You know what? I’m staying out of this. You three need to work this out for yourselves.”
“I never asked you to get involved.”
“You called me. I’ve got to go. Talk to you later.”
I left Patrick’s and went to the nearest Starbuck’s. I was in need of serious caffeine.
Kendra’s POV
After my shower I decided to call Brendon. “Hello?”
“Brendon, it’s me. How are you?”
“I’m fine. Is something wrong?”
“Yes. I don’t know how to tell you.”
“Just tell me.”
“Last night, god, I can’t do this.”
“Baby, what is it?”
“I just can’t.” By then I was crying.
“Kendra, what happened?”
"I slept with Patrick. Now, don’t get upset with him. It was all me.”
“Why did you do it?”
“I don’t know. I’m sorry.”
“Did you do it just to get back at me?”
“No, I don’t know why I did it. Can you forgive me?”
“I don’t think we should be together anymore.”
“Brendon, stop it.”
“Do you see what we are doing to each other? This can’t continue.”
“I know. I just don’t know what happened last night. Please don’t give up on us. Can’t we try and work this out?”
“I don’t know. Can you say that you don’t care for Patrick?” I couldn’t say anything.
“See. You care for him.”
“Maybe, but last night I said I loved you. Not Patrick. It’s you I love. Please, don’t give up on us.”
“We’ll talk in a few days. I’ve got to go.”
Brendon hung up without saying goodbye. I laid on the bed. There was a knock on the door.
“Patrick, I don’t want to talk.”
“I think we need to.” I got up and opened the door.
“What?”
“Did you call him?”
“Yes, things aren’t good right now. He wants to break up, but we’re going to talk in a few days when he gets back.”
“I’m really sorry.” Patrick hugged me.
“I guess I just have to wait.”
~Two Days Later~
I went out on Patrick’s deck and started to work on a drawing. I heard the front door open and figured it was Patrick.
“Kendra.” I looked up.
“Brendon, your home.” I got up and went to hug him.
“I missed you.” He kissed me.
“I missed you too. How are you doing?”
“Alright. I finally got a hold of the land lord. Our apartment is ready.”
“Oh. Okay. I’ll call the movers.”
“Bren, are you going to look at me?”
“What do you want me to do?”
“I’m scared to death of losing you.”
“I feel the same way. What are we going to do?”
Brendon sat down and took my hands.
“I wish I knew. I’m attracted to Patrick and so are you. We can’t keep playing this game.”
“I know. I love you.”
“I love you too. Don’t ever think I don’t. Even if things don’t work out. I’ll always love you.”
I started to cry. Somehow that statement scared me even more.
Brendon’s POV
Over the next few weeks Kendra and I moved into our apartment. Things were going a little better but we still had some tension between us. I just got done with some of the recording. I knew that when I got home I wanted to try and talk to her about everything. I walked to the living room and next to Kendra was Patrick.
“Brendon, your home. How was your day?” Kendra gave me a hug.
“Alright. A little tired. Hi, Patrick. How are you?”
“Good. I brought some music that I thought you could go over.”
“Okay. Thanks.”
“Well, you two, I’m going to bed.”
Kendra kissed me and I sat next to Patrick.
“What’s wrong?” He asked me.
“Well, coming home and seeing you here wasn’t what I expected.” “I suppose not. We didn’t do anything.”
“I know. It’s still hard though.”
“Do you still care for me, Brendon?”
I couldn’t say anything. I looked into his eyes. Tonight they were blue.
“Yes, I do. I can’t get you out of my mind. I don’t know what to do. How can I stop?”
“I don’t know. I wish I knew what to say.”
“What about Kendra?”
“What about her?”
“Patrick, you slept with her. Do you care for her?”
“I thought I did. I do, but as a friend. It was a mistake. I’m sorry.”
“What if we slept together? Would you come back and say it’s a mistake?”
“No, not at all. What I feel for you is different. But I’m not going to sleep with you while you are still with Kendra. I won’t hurt her again.”
I watched at Patrick left. I felt worse than ever.
