“Pete would you please quit moping?” Joe whined as he rolled his eyes and adjusted the guitar strap that was across his chest. “You’re driving me up a fucking wall.”
“Children, both of you stop it,” Patrick chided as he adjusted the microphone in front of him as they all got ready for their sound check. It was their first time back on tour in almost four years and so far the first couple of shows went off without a hitch, and they were hoping for good results for the rest of the tour. “It hasn’t even been a month and already you two are going to drive me insane when there’s only two more months left on this leg.”
“Well then get him to quit pouting,” Joe grumbled as he started playing a couple of chords, pausing here and there to tune the guitar in his arms.
“If you left a wife and child back home, wouldn’t you miss them like Hell?” Andy asked, understanding Pete’s anxiousness. Andy and Shaun were still together, of course they almost hadn’t been when several arguments threatened to rip them apart, and Andy was already ready to take a run for it, missing his boyfriend that much.
“Yeah, but my guy is here with me,” Joe said as he pointed at Patrick, who frowned and shook his head at him. “What?”
“Joe, you and I are lucky enough to have each other right here. Now imagine if I wasn’t in the band, I was back in Chicago, how would you feel?” Patrick asked, hoping his analogy was enough to get his point through his fiance’s thick skull.
Joe ducked his head, feeling like a chided child, and nodded slightly. “I get it now... I’m sorry Pete, I’m sorry Andy,” he said as he looked at his two friends.
Pete gave a sorrowful shrug and nodded. “It’s okay Joe... I just miss my family,” he said softly.
“Yeah, but that’s no need to neglect your fans...”
Pete’s head shot up, nearly ripping off of his neck and shoulders, and his eyes landed on the two figures standing at the side of the stage. He quickly removed his guitar from his body and handed it to one of the stage hands before he made his way over to the previously mentioned wife and child, picking up his son and hugging Casey and little Pete close. Apparently this had been amusing to little Pete, for the little four-year-old started giggling, making Pete smile, happy that the boy, poor boy who already was showing signs of looking like Pete when he grew up, hadn’t inherited his laugh.
“And what are you finding so funny?” Pete asked the boy, grinning at him as Andy, Joe, and Patrick made their way over, each taking turns in hugging Casey since they had missed her too, just not in the same way as Pete.
“Daddy’s crazy,” little Pete said before he giggled, lightly poking Pete’s chest at the same time.
“Smart little guy, isn’t he?” Joe snickered, earning a glare from Pete, which he smiled at. His friend was back to normal.
Pete looked at his son and smiled at him as he kissed the top of the boy’s head. “I have to finish up sound check, do you guys want to go get some food while you wait?” He asked, smiling when Casey reached over and carefully took little Pete from his Dad’s arms.
“How about I get him something to snack on until you can join us?” Casey asked before Pete leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to her lips.
“Yeah, I won’t be too long,” Pete said as he waved to little Pete, who waved as Casey carried him in the direction of the catering area. He smiled as he watched the two leaving for a minute before he turned to Patrick. “You arranged this, didn’t you? It has ‘Tricky’ written all over it.”
Patrick smiled and nodded. “I was as tired as Joe, but I understood so I called her up and got her a flight for today. I had one of the body guards go pick her up from the airport so you wouldn’t know about-” Patrick found his words cut off as Pete grabbed his face and gave him a rough, quick kiss and pulled away grinning from ear to ear. “Uh...”
“I love you so much right now,” Pete said before he laughed and grabbed his guitar from a stage hand, oblivious of the icy glare he was receiving from Joe.

Pete smiled as he watched Patrick tickle little Pete, who squealed with his laughter and squirmed, trying to fight away his Uncle Patrick’s assault. This was the type of scene he never thought he would see and he was more than happy it was playing out before him. Never thinking he would be this lucky, he took in every bit of this, not wanting to take it for granted. He had a loving wife, a handsome son, an extended family that he would never lose, what more could a man in his position ask for? The answer was simple; he couldn’t ask for more.
[Author's Note: Yep, tis the end my dears. And I've enjoyed writing this story as much as you guys have obviously enjoyed reading it ^^. I must admit, I love little Pete, and hopefully one day he'll exist in real life lol. Anyway, now that I'm done with Crashing Hearts, maybe I can get to work on Closet Lovers and Their Innocence... ^^ If any of you have any ideas for either one of those two stories, you need to contact me and let me know lol. I'll need all the help I can get. Love you all! FicFric]
