“Well darling lets sleep for the night and then in the morning will announce it to everyone” he said laying down next me. I shut my eyes and soon fell asleep. When I awoke it was about one-thirty in the morning. Gerard was sound a sleep with a smile upon his face. I slowly crept out of bed. I just wanted to sit outside under the stars. I made my way down the stairs and outside. I found a chair by the garden and sat down. I heard rustling behind me. Who could it be at this time at night? My heart race I was starting to get scared. When in the gate comes Mikey. “Oh dear lord, you scared the crap out of me Mikey,” I said holding my chest. He snickered and smiled softly. “Sorry I wasn’t trying to scare you, I seen you go outside and decided to see what you’re up to at this time,” he said pulling a chair up next to me. “Nothing really I couldn’t sleep, and it was so beautiful out tonight I just wanted to be able to see the stars” I said looking up at the stars. “Yea there beautiful alright” Mikey said gazing at me. “Mikey... has there been something wrong with you, you’ve seemed upset” I said not losing my eyes at the stars. There was no response. “Mikey, you still with me here” I said a bit encouraging for him to speak. I turned to see Mikey with his head in his hands softly rocking back and forth. I leaned forward and softly rubbed his back. “Mikey, darling what’s the matter” I said in the most calm voice I could. “It’s not fair,” he whispered. I could barley hear him. “What did you say darling” I said soothingly. He lifted his head and wiped the tears from under his glasses. “I said it’s not fair” he said sniffling and looking at me. “What’s not fair” I starred back. He grabbed my hands softly and held on. “He knew I liked you before he even did, then he got this hitch in his giddy up and decided he liked you too and that he would go for you, before I could even get up enough courage to make a move to ask you to marry me” he said holding my hands and softly shaking. I didn’t know what to say. “By that time Daisy was crazy over me and Gerard had all ready won you over, there wasn’t in use trying, so I just decided I had to be with Daisy, it was my fate” He said still teary eyed. My heart ached for Gerard. But my sympathy was with Mikey. I felt horrible. His hand kept trembling. I held them a little tighter to calm him down. “Mikey... I had no clue,” I said sympathetically. “But you wouldn’t care now anyways, because your in love with Gerard” he said letting go of my hands. “Why would you ever say something like that?” I said almost upset. He looked at me with the deepest eyes. “Do you care about me like that Lilly?” he asked softly. I looked at him. His overall appearance was sad. He had tears running down his pale face, his skinny body shook. I felt horrible. What was wrong with this girl? Why didn’t she love this boy back? Would it change what happened in the future if I admitted I loved him back? It felt weird to know that Gerard’s baby brother was in love with me. As I sat there and starred at him my heart flutter and my stomach sank. I didn’t know what to say. I just went with my impulse. “Yes... Mikey I do care about you like that” I said sweetly. He looked surprised. “You do,” he said almost happily. “Yes, Mikey I do” I said smiling. Mikey almost leap forward. He wrapped his arms around me tight and hugged me. “But Lilly, what about my brother... are you going to end it with him” he said holding me. I had to scoot away for a moment. “I’m not sure Mikey... I don’t know what to do... I need time to think,” I said quietly. I got up and let go of Mikey's hand. I looked back at him as I headed for the house. His face seemed stunned and unsure. I walked quietly up the stairs. I opened my bedroom door and walked in the room. I softly closed the door behind me. Gerard was dead asleep. I went to his side of the bed and sat down. I felt him turn over. “Lilly, is that you” he said softly. “Yea, it’s me darling,” I said softly. He wrapped his arm around my waist. “Gerard” I said softly. “Yea, I’m here baby,” he said rubbing my back. “Do you really love me?” I whispered. Gerard moved his hand to my back and rubbed it slowly. “Yes, I love you... why, what would every make you think else wise” he said quietly and unsure. “I was just in thought about me and you when I was looking at the stars” I said putting my head in my hands. “I loved you ever since the first time I laid eyes on you” he said quietly. “I knew as soon as we met you were the one,” he said kissing my hand and rubbing my knuckles. “But, what about Mikey” I said in quick response. There was a short pause. “W...what about Mikey” Gerard said as if he was caught in a lie. “Well, wasn’t Mikey in love with me before you fell in love with me” I asked slowly. “Oh... Mikey doesn’t comprehend what the word love means, he didn’t love you, and he was in lust,” Gerard said getting upset. “Besides I had seen you way before he did, I just wasn’t ready to make my move yet, and I had to break up with the girl I was dating anyways” Gerard said as if he didn’t care. “Wait, you had to break up with a girl for me” I said stunned. “Yea, she didn’t mean that much, I was only dating her because I wanted to get back at my ex, cause she kept flaunting herself with her new boyfriend, it was disgusting” he said in a disgusted manner. I fell into tears. Was he dating Lilly because of he wanted back at his ex’s or did he really love her? I through my hand away from him when he went to grab it. “Lilly, darling what’s the matter” he asked if something just magically became wrong. “You broke some other girl’s heart, just because you thought I was the one, how do you think that girl felt when you broke up with her, good?” I said crying and mad. “I... I don’t know I just knew I was in love,” He said trying to hold me. I shoved his arms off of me and ran out of the room. I ran down the stairs as fast as my feet could carry me, trying not to slip as I went. I ran to a corridor that I believed was the boy’s rooms. There were five doors. One straight in front of the others and me were opposite of each other. But which one was Mikey’s. I felt so horrible now. He really did love Lilly. Gerard wasn’t interested in Lilly right away. It was only after he knew Mikey liked her did he begin to love her. Or was it the fact of knowing that Lilly had all this money and if he married into the family he would become part of the will for it? I hoped and prayed to god I got the right room. I went and knocked on the door on my right closes to the door straight ahead of me. I heard ray’s voice shout “GO AWAY”. No luck with that room. So I took one more chance. I went and knocked on the door straight ahead of me. I heard blankets moving. Somebody was getting up from their bed. Please god let it be Mikey I thought to myself. I danced around in anticipation and tears. Finally the door cracked open. “Lilly” said Mikey’s voice. I shook my head in tears and relief. He opened the door all the way. “What’s wrong, why are you crying,” he said holding my face and trying to wipe the tears off. “You were right” I let out in a mumbled cry. Mikey took me by the hand and brought me in his room. He sat me down on the bed as he went and grabbed some Kleenex. He kneeled in front of me and handed me some tissues. “You were right, you were right all along, I’m an idiot,” I said sobbing. “What do you mean I was right” He said brushing the hair out of my eyes. “When you told me you loved me before Gerard did” I said starring at him. He put his head in his hand and shook his hand. “I knew this would happen,” he said calmly. “I shouldn’t have said a word” he said upset. “Why... you just told me the truth, something I needed to know” I said confused. “Yes, I know but you and Gerard were destined to be together, I mean after a while I could see he really did love you” he said reassuring. I smacked him. “Ow, what the hell was that for” he said rubbing his face. “You made this out to be that Gerard never loved me, that you only truly loved me and look at you, you finally come out with it and tell me that he did love me” I said upset. I ran to the door. “And to think I was going to kiss you” I said just to make him mad.
