Once in a lifetime – Talking Heads

Tru stepped out from the tunnel, which led on for sometime until he found a man made constructed wall. He stepped through and out in to the lower crypts of St Paul’s Cathedral. He stumbled out of the darkness and up towards the publicly displayed ones which were well lit.

Tru wandered out to the large main chapel and stood and looked up. He was seeking answers for things he’d already been told. What was he supposed to do with his life or was he not supposed to have one so that the creature joined with him might die? Tru sat on the bench and put his hand to his forehead.

All around him people moved around the Cathedral, thousands of visitors from around the world coming to see an impressive house of God in the centre of England’s capital centre. Tru heard someone mention him and he looked up to see Charlie and Shanemah stood in front of him.

“Bella told us she felt you come back.” He said quietly trying to avoid the voices. “Charlie wouldn’t stop until she saw you were safe.”

“What happened with the agents? What happened with the…”

“Shush.” He told him and Charlie clambered up to Tru’s lap and held him around his shoulders. “They were strangely instructed about not chasing you or the girl again.”

“Michael.” Tru nodded and stood up carrying the young lady. “I need a new home.”

“I am sure the Vatican will relocate you.” Shanemah offered up.

“No I don’t want them too. I’ll pick it this time.” He nodded.

“Tru can we live in the country with a pony?” Charlie asked him as they looked up at the dome.

“I don’t know. You don’t like getting up in the mornings and ponies are pretty hard to look after.” He said to her as they walked out.

“Have you made any plans? Have you got any answers?” Shanemah asked him.

“I know now what I am.” Tru nodded. “But as for the rest I suspect it will take some time to put my affairs in to order fully.”

Bella was stood outside when they got there. Charlie drew Tru’s attention to her by waving over his shoulder. She smiled and waved back as Tru turned around. She smiled fondly to him and Shanemah shook his head, they were… terrible at reading each other. He wondered if they would just admit their attraction but he knew that the demon skin-riding Tru would probably never allow him peace of mind enough to feel that he could do such a thing. Tru seemed to like being alone even if everyone else was intent on being around him.

“Say hello to the pretty lady.” Charlie waved to Bella.

“Hi.” Tru said gruffly as they approached.

“Hello Tru.” She smiled warmly. “Hello Charlie and what news do you have today?”

“I think we going home.” Charlie told him still hanging off the side of Tru. “But he’s lost his hat so maybe not.”

“Oh I think we can fix that.” She smiled and from behind her back she produced one of the black hats Tru always seemed to be wearing.

“I think you do magic too.” Charlie told her and took the hat and put it on her own head.

“I think she likes you.” Tru nodded and set the young lady on the floor as she pulled the hat up and it slid down over her eyes. “Thank you Bella for… all your help.”

“I’d do it again if it helped you. What of the Iterations people?”

“I think we have an accord.” He said as the rain began to softly fall down on them. “See Charlie,” he looked down to her, “it always rains when something good is coming.”

“I think it already did.” Charlie smiled and waved to Bella. “See you soon pretty lady!”
