Chapter 11
Brendon’s POV
We were working on a song that Patrick wrote. He smelled so good. Why couldn’t I stop thinking about him. I looked at my watch.
“Guys, I have to leave. Kendra and I have a date tonight.”
“Why don’t we call it a night. I have a date also.” I looked at him.
Who is he?”
“It’s a girl. I met her at a café last night.”
He looked upset with me. Patrick was packing his computer.
“Well, have a nice time.”
“Thanks. You too. See you tomorrow.”
When I got home I heard the shower running. I quickly got out of my clothes and stepped into the shower. Kendra had her back to me. I wrapped my arms around her waist.
“Brendon!”
She turned around.
“You scared me.”
She kissed me.
“How was your day?”
“Good. Nothing too excited.”
I grabbed the soap and she turned around. I began to wash her back.
“How about you?”
“Really good. I went to the art class. I met a girl there. She gave me her number if I want to get together sometime.”
“That’s good. I worry about you not having any friends here.”
“Maybe I’ll call her tomorrow.”
I kissed her neck.
“Thank you for the roses.”
I sucked on her neck.
“I’m glad you like them.”
She turned around to face me and grabbed my cock.
“Oh god.”
I threw my head back and hit the back of the wall. Kendra licked my throat.
“I want you, Brendon.”
I picked her up and turned around. I slide inside of her. Kendra held on my shoulders and wrapped her legs around my waist. I smiled.
“What?”
“Can’t I smile at you?”
She smiled back at me. I started moving in and out of her slowly and then picking up the pace.
“Bren, hurry.”
I moved as fast as I could. Kendra screamed my name. I came right after. I held her up and placed my forehead on her chest. I slowly let her place her feet on the bathtub floor.
“Wow.” I said.
“Brendon, I love you.”
She kissed me.
“I love you too. We better hurry if we are going to make our reservations.
We quickly showered and got dressed. I drove to the restaurant and we were seated right away. We ordered.
“I think we might be almost done with the album.”
“Really? That will be good. When will we be able to go home?”
“Not for a few months.”
“Shit.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Patrick is over there.”
I turned around. He was standing to get waited on.
“It will be fine. He’s just here for supper.”
“I know, but I just wanted it to be us.”
I took her hand.
“It will.”
I glanced back and see the girl Patrick was taking out. They were walking towards us. Kendra looked up.
“That’s Barbara.”
“Who?”
“The girl that I met today. Is she with Patrick?”
I looked over and they were seated. Patrick looked at us and I waved. He waved back.
“Are they dating?”
“Babe, it’s just a date. Why are you so upset?”
“I’m not.”
“You are too. Do you want to be with him?”
She looked at Patrick and then at me.
“Well, what’s your answer?”
Just then Patrick and Barbara were coming over.
“Hey guys.”
“Hi, how are you?” I asked him.
“Good. I just wanted to introduce my date. Barbara, these are my friends, Brendon and Kendra.”
“Kendra and I have art class together.”
God, I couldn’t stand Barbara. She was so wrong for Patrick.
Kendra’s POV
I looked up at Patrick and Barbara. I was happy for Patrick to get out with someone, but not her. I wanted to be friends with Barbara.
“Yeah, we had our first class today.” “That’s great. I know Kendra hasn’t met too many people since she came here.”
“It’s been a little hard.”
I didn’t know if Patrick was trying to be a smart ass or what.
“How did you two meet?” Brendon asked.
“Patrick came into the café I work at last night.”
“Oh yeah. You told me that today.”
I looked at Brendon. He knew Patrick had a date. And the picture. It was him. No wonder it looked so familiar.
“That’s nice.”
Why couldn’t I be happy for him. I had my own boyfriend. A great one at that.
“Is something wrong, Kendra?”
I looked at Patrick.
“No, not at all.”
I gave him a fake smile.
“Oh. Brendon, I have some music for you. I’ll try and send it to you tonight. If not I’ll show it to you tomorrow.”
“Okay. I finished the final song. Maybe I’ll see how they go together.”
Patrick turned to Barbara.
“I’m producing Brendon’s bands record.”
“Yeah, and he’s also slept with Brendon.”
“Kendra!”
Brendon was glaring at me.
“We didn’t.”
“Oh, that’s right. You just sucked Patrick’s dick. But he did have sex with me.”
I could tell I was hurting them all. I didn’t care.
“Um, I need some fresh air.”
Barbara ran out of the restaurant.
“What the fuck, Kendra? I want to move on from you two and I can’t if this is how your going to act. Or maybe we shouldn’t be friends anymore. You need to face it. We aren’t going to be together.”
I looked up into his eyes. They were so green. I knew he was mad.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Brendon.”
I watched as Patrick ran out of the restaurant.
“What were you thinking?”
“I don’t know. I shouldn’t of said any of that. I should see if they are still here and apologize.”
“No. You can do that tomorrow. Do you want to be with him?”
“I don’t know.”
I started to cry. Brendon took my hand.
“I love you, but I care for him too. Why can’t I let him go. I want to give you my whole heart. I can’t if he’s still there.”
“How about we don’t mention this or Patrick the rest of the night?”
“You sure you want to continue this?”
“Yes. I want to spend every free minute with you. Even when I’m upset with you.”
He leaned over and kissed me. Our supper came and after we went for a walk. Going back home we watched a movie. For the first time in a long time I hadn’t thought of Patrick. I laid on Brendon’s lap and took his hand into mine. I kissed it.
“I love you, Brenny.”
Patrick’s POV
I ran out of the restaurant. I was so pissed. I doubt that Barbara would want to look at me. She was sitting on a bench outside the restaurant. I just stared at her. My feet finally got moving and I walked to her.
“I’m sorry.” I sat down.
“Should I take you home?”
“Do you want me to go home?”
I took her hand.
“No, but what Kendra said I figured you wouldn’t want to finish our date.”
“I’m upset. I didn’t think she was like that.”
“She isn’t. Things are complicated. I’ll give you the short version. I’m bi and I fell for Brendon, but Kendra was falling for me. Then I guess I wanted her. I know I sound screwed up. I don’t have feelings for Kendra. Only as a friend.”
“You do like girls, right?”
“Of course. I wouldn’t of asked you out if I didn’t.”
“I just don’t know how I feel about this. I wanted Kendra as a friend and if she likes you. I don’t know if we can be friends. I really don’t know what to say.”
“I know. This can’t be easy on you. Can you put this behind you for a night?”
“Can I ask you a question?”
“Yeah.”
“Did you?”
I ran my hand through my hair.
“Yes. I know I shouldn’t have. But I did and I’m moving on and they are working on their problems.”
She looked down.
“Barbara, are you alright?”
I placed my finger under her chin and lifted her face until she was looking at me. She had tears in her eyes.
“I’ll be fine.”
“You sure?”
“This is just bringing back some memories.”
“I’m really sorry. Do you want to talk about it?”
“Not really.” She smiled at me.
“Are you sure your alright?”
“I’ve had better dates and we haven’t even started yet.”
“So, do you think you can put this behind you for tonight?”
“Sure.”
“Why don’t we go and get some burgers and fries. Would you like to go back to my place?”
“Yeah. Let’s go and start this over.” We went and got the food an went back to my apartment.
“You have a nice place.”
“Thank you. Here you go.”
I handed her a plate. We sat at the table.
“Are you from Chicago?” I asked.
“No. I’m from Minnesota.”
“I’ve been there a few times. What made you want to move?”
“Boyfriend. Won’t ever follow a guy again.”
“Bad breakup?”
“Just a little. He’s what I mentioned about before. We came here together. It was a mistake. The whole time he had another girlfriend here. I got pregnant and he couldn’t handle it. He left me and I lost the baby. He actually came to the hospital with his girlfriend. He wanted us to be friends. My ex and I were friends before we dated and I guess he figured we all could be friends.”
“I’m sorry.”
“No, I’m over him. It just has been hard to go to school, have a job, and have a social life. I actually don’t. I never gotten around to make friends here and it’s been so hard now to make friends.”
“Damn. That’s why you were upset. It was because of Kendra. You thought you could be friends and she said that shit.”
She started to cry.
“I’m sorry. I usually don’t cry this much.”
“It’s fine. I’ll talk to Kendra tomorrow.”
“No. It doesn’t matter.”
“Yes, it does.”
I pulled my chair next to hers.
“It matters to me.”
Barbara’s POV
I looked at Patrick.
“If you want.”
“I do and I will. I want you to be happy.”
“You don’t even know me.”
“Then I need to get to know you.”
He kissed me on the cheek.
“Would you like to watch a movie?”
“Yeah.”
We watched a movie and Patrick drove me home.
“I’m sorry that our date didn’t turn out that good. I promise our next one will be a lot better.”
“You want to go on another date?”
“Yes. Will you stop it. I really like you.”
I could tell I was blushing.
“You do that too?”
“What?”
“Blush when someone talks about you.”
I couldn’t help but smile.
“Yes, I do.”
“It’s cute. So, can I see you tomorrow?”
“I have an early shift and classes in the afternoon. Why don’t you come here around 5:00. I’ll have something for us.”
“Alright. See you then. Have a good day.” He kissed me and I went to my apartment.
My phone was ringing when I walked in.
“Hello?”
“Hi, Barbara. How are you?”
“Fine, mom. I was just out.”
“That’s good. I’m glad to hear you are going out. Was it a date.”
“Yes. He seems really nice.”
“Good. I worry about you.”

“Bye.”
I got ready for bed and the last thing I thought about was Patrick.
