Chapter Three: [alternative]


[-Lilly's P.O.V-]


I woke up and looked at the clock to see i had slept in.
It was about noon and it was a miserable day.
That was just what we needed after buying a bunch of summer/spring clothes. Serves us right when we on right on the brink of Winter.
So i put on my out of season clothes....

"Lilly!!" Claire yelled from upstairs.
I ignored her and a few seconds later she came downstairs to my room.

"Lilly do you want to go out again today real quick and get some windcheaters or something? Camp's coming up next friday, and the weather channel says it doesn't look like it will get better soon"
"Yeah i think we have to. I don't really have anything Wintery in my wardrobe" i sighed.
"mm. Hailey and Jessica are driving" She added.

"Knock-knock!!" Said Jess as she barged through the door. We walked out to the little area where the bottom of the stairs met the front door, right before the hallway.

"Hey! oh my gosh you look great!" I lied. Jessica was wearing these puffy yellow pants. No doubt she was making a "fashion statement"

"Come on lets get going!" Hailey and she and Jess grabbed Claire and i by the hand and dragged us out the door.


We shopped around all afternoon. It was horribly boring but we didn't say anything. Hailey and Jess ate nothing, and me and claire shared subway and got a discusted look from the other two girls.
We saw Jack coming through the doors of the mall and waved.
Out of the corner of my eye, i could see Hailey making flirty eyes at Jack, and Claire making evil eyes at Hailey. I didn't think much of it and stood up to give Jack a big hug. I sat down again and he greeted the others.
Hailey was last and she clung on to Jack. She didn't let go after the hug and sat in his lap.
Claire looked really crushed for some reason.

"Hey so you guys coming to the party tonight?" Jack asked looking around at us.
"Uh duh stupid! The girl who's having the party is like my great friends, sisters boyfriends, friends cousin! We're pretty tight" Jess replied

I sat there feeling dumb and used my fingers to count up some things and to see if that was even possible. Like 5 whole family tree's, and they were "pretty tight"?

Claire was fidgeting with her phone and looked upset.
"I. um.. I've got to go home now" Claire said with a fake smile.
"We gotta go too, Jack you'll come help us get ready" Said Jessica dragging him away.

"Come on lets go" I said looking sympathetically at Claire.
"No...no it's fine, can you pick up that lay-by for me?" She answered sort of dreamily

I turned on my heel and wandered off to the shop Claire pointed at and remembered she got some casual party clothes. I picked it up and wandered around the shops for a while. I was in the beauty store and decided to get some random colours of hair dye. They were on special so i thought i'd go for it.
I got some starbucks and sat there by myself. Just thinking about life, then it struck me that the exchange students would be here so soon.

I couldn't stop thinking about what the principle had said to Claire and I.
"These exchange students are very special. So we need the host students to live near a hotel/motel if possible" The principal had called our mother because the exchange students were to go to a good students home.

I couldn't get that thought out of my head why the hotel. But my mother opened her mouth and said our house was huge and gave details and now the details were changed to no hotel needed.

I decided to go home by bus. I stared out of the window the whole way not really thinking of anything. I got home and Claire was running around trying to find some clothes for the party.
It was in a few hours and i told her to calm the hell down.
I showed her the hair dye and she took advantage of it. Hair products make her go crazy or something.
It looked great through.

She had baby pink streaks in her white-blonde hair originally.
And she now had some black streaks in her side fringe. Very thin bits.
And one black streak coming from underneath her hair that you could see if she put her hair on her shoulders. And some weaved ever so slightly through her hair. But it didn't look dodgy.

She stood judging my hair. And put me in the chair that was in one of the downstairs bathrooms.
She messed around with my hair without a word.

I had pale blue in my black hair originally.
And now i had some white in my side fringe and it looked exactly like Claires but just like inverted colours.
I really liked it.

"Oh my gosh you did a great job it looks quite nice" I said looking up from my magazine and twirling my hair.
"Yeah it does actually. Looks kind of familiar" Claire giggled.

We then had reason to run around the house when we finished our hair. We had about an hour to get ready for the party which started at 9:00 pm.

Claire had on a black polar fleece trimmed windcheater with rainbow love hearts on it. She had some light grey skinnies. She had on one lime green converse, and one light blue one.
I settled on a casual outfit of, a windcheater like Claire's but mine was light blue with little black lightning bolts, and some dark skinny jeans. I had on some pink cheater print high converse.

I had my hair straight with a pink head band holding my bangs forward, and Claire had her hair dead strait, and pulled back into a pony tail with her bangs down.

We both looked nice. Robert drove us to the party and we came "fashionably late"
It was huge and crazy. We walked in the door together and which Claire then dissapeared. I walked around for a bit and then I went to dance.

I got sick of that and looked around for my friends. I found Jess, Hailey and Jack and some other of our stupid clique sitting around on a king-sized bed upstairs.

"Hey Lil" They all said in unison. Which made me almost gag.
I saw a happy Claire sitting in her boyfriend Pete's lap.
I took a seat next to Seth and saw they were playing "spin the bottle".

"ooohh Jess and Pete!" yelled someone as the bottle landed on them.

"You guys re-spin thats not fair" Claire said smiling but still looking a little uneasily.
"No babe it's good" Said Pete preparing to move over to Jessica.
"No "babe" i don't feel comfortable with this" She said a bit more sternly moving off his lap.

Pete just rolled his eyes and ignored her. They went on for longer than was required.

"PETE!!" I said screeched angrily.
Claire just sat there with her mouth wide open.

"Geez Lilly calm the fuck down" Seth said glaring at me.
"Shut up Seth!! Don't even get me started on you, you bastard!" I said and smacked him in the face.
I led a crying Claire out of the room and Jack followed.
"Claire are you O.K? That was way off" Said Jack hugging her.
"I feel fucking fine" She screamed.

Ah here comes one of the effects of parties.
Underage drinking.
Binge drinking to be exact.
What did they have a lot of at the party?
Alcohol.
Claire had a lot of emotion to let go of right now.
So did I.
We used alcohol stupidly.

"Girls i think you've had enough" Jack said taking away a cup of vodka from both of us.
"Nuh..uh....you're...such..a..square!!" Said Claire drawing a lop-sided square in the air.

"Yeah..you're...snow..toospid..stpood..stu..STUPID!!" i mannaged to blurt out.
Claire started laughing histarically. Then passed out in Jacks lap.
"Oh..SHIT!! You guys are gonna really regret this tomorrow" Jack said worridly.

I ran away and started dancing on some random dinner table. I jumped up and smashed my head on the light and then everything went black.


"Shit! help, someone!" I heard Jack yelling.

When i opened my eyes i was lying on the front lawn with a splitting headache.
"Oh my god, are you O.K? Do you know where you live?" Said a pretty girl with light brown hair who was sitting next to Jack.
She went away and a few seconds later came back with some ice for my head. Jack was holding Claire in his arms and i suspect she just fell asleep.

"My names Vee" She said and I put a puzzled expression on my face.
"Well Vanessa, but whatever" She smiled.
"I think we should get you girls home" She said and she helped me up and we all walked over to a car.

"Jack, was it?" She asked him.
"Yeah" He replied with the "look" on his face. He pulled a goofy smile and I laughed.
"Can you please drive?" She asked throwing the keys on top of the little car.

We all got in and Claire and I were lying in the back.
They helped us in and Claire woke up enough to walk inside. I thanked them with slurred words and stumbled inside.
"Vee" gave me her number in my phone incase we needed help with anything.
We crashed on the couch and slept in until 3:00 pm.

"freeaakingg hell" Claire sulked when she woke.
"Shuuttt-uupp!!" I yelled pulling a couch cousion over my head.

It was worse than being hit by a car. Maybe even a truck.
We had less than three days to get, well, alive again. So we decided to do that by taking as much advantage of sleep as we could.
Even though Monday was a day off of school, we had the exchange students coming. Crap.
