Great start to a promising story! I am very curious why Harry didn't protect himself from the Dursleys with his rune magic or used it in general to improve his situation there - now, I fear it is to late...
Going further, I think he will not be sorted in Gryffindor or Slytherin this time but rather Ravenclaw seeing he has all his memories and knowledge from 'before' which will lead to probably some different friendships.
Please keep the spaces between the paragraphs for it makes reading so much more easy!A New Chance Continued

i didn't read the original story, but this one has lots of promise. i do have one major gripe with it though. if i was 20 years old and went back in time and someone, like an uncle, was abusing me, i would destroy them. for someone like Harry who, has been trained to kill in war, letting Vernon beat him, is ridiculus. when women are in abusinve relationships, at least they say they love the man. in this case Harry doesn't even like his family, let alone love them. there is no excuse to put up with that crap, unless he likes going to a dominatrix or something. i sincerly hope that the next chapter involes some justice if not revenge against vernon and that family.
cheers

Definately keep the spacing; it is nice and easy to read.
The story its self does have a lot going for it, but I'm going to have to agree with dc1 on this one.
Harry is supposed to be an adult here, he wouldn't put up with a beating unless there was a very good reason. Especially not when he could do something about it - all it would take is some sneaking around at midnight setting appropriate wards.A New Chance Continued

i also haven't read the original, and this has potential.
harry will still be exploring his options i think, this is not something he has had a chance to plan, and as such i look forward to see harry take a more mature outlook on everything so he can try and work everything out. though i still am hopeful for some surprises.
i look forward to see him sit down and plan everything out, and then tick stuff off as it happens over the years...
please do try and keep it relatively logical and realistic, and not have harry able to beat all the challenges this year.
congrats otherwise, i sure this will be a great read... congrats... just don't try and rush it..
oh btw... please keep the spacing with the paragraphs... i makes it sooo much easier to read.A New Chance Continued

I agree with some others; this Harry has to deal with Vernon to be believeable. and did I miss it, or is there no Hedwig?Author's response
No you didn't miss it. Hagrid didn't take Harry to Diagon Alley so Harry didn't get Hedwig, yet.
The reason Harry didn't use magic on Vernon or number four is because Dumbledore had him so convinced that he needed the blood protection that it didn't even cross his mind to do anything that could jeopardize his 'welcome' there.
Harry will great his revenge but it won't be until around Christmas or so.A New Chance Continued

Keep the spacing. I repeat keep the spacing!
Now with that out of the way I've got to agree with a few of the other's Harry has to react to the beating. Fleeing either to Hogwarts or the hospital, beating the crap out of Vernon, sending an owl for help He must react and not by cowering in the cupboard under the stairs.Author's response
Unfortunately Harry doesn't have an owl or access to an owl. He will be rather resigned to his fate, what with the blood protection and all. -- pyrodaemonA New Chance Continued

I really like the large spaces in between the paragraphs (makes it easier to read in my opinion)
Really great stuff. I agree somewhat with some of the others when it comes to just accepting the abuse.. but he was taken by surprise I guess. He should at least heal himself using Runes (it was said Runes could do that right) and then take forms of revenge.
Anyway great stuff, really great ideas and great writing.
And as DrT said, no Hedwig? She was his only friend during some summers so she should at least be quite important.
Really looking forward to more.Author's response
The spacing seems to be the popular opinion so I'm going to keep them.
Whooo I'm going to have to make a note in the actual story. Harry isn't really accepting the abuse. He's more resigned to his fate. Dumbledore has told him for so long that he needs the blood protection that Harry would never seriously consider jeopardizing his 'welcome' there. Besides he begged Dumbledore to let him leave the Dursleys in his last life and they kept saying no, despite the fact that they knew the Dursleys locked him up and starved him. -- pyrodaemon
