The morning couldn't have gone slower. I knew that I would have to meet Lucian's family, but I had my reasons for being nervous. If they didn't trust me, what would they do? Would they get rid of me? Would it be like I never existed?
No. Lucian would never let them hurt me. Never let anyone hurt me for that matter. So I shouldn't be scared. I already knew James. James was like the big brother I never had. He always made me laugh, and I was completly comfortable around him. Mostly when these last few weeks had been a torment.
The day when me and Lucian had walked into the cafeteria, hand in hand, was the day when my only friend, Aimee, stoped talking to me. If we met in the hallways, she would push past me and roll her eyes. She even stopped sitting at the same table as me. She had joined a new group. The group of Anna-can-goto-hell-and-leave-our-man-alone. This made me laugh. When they were around me and Lucian, they made that very clear.
But I had other things to worry about. Lucian made sure of that. It was only this afternoon when he told me about his plans for me to meet his family. I had walked into first period, with him by my side. We went to our seats, and went on with class, just like every other day. We would glance at each other, and smile. But today, the smile I got was one that made me worried. He must've seen the confused look on my face, for he suddenly became very curious about his shoes. I shrugged it off, but the feeling still didn't leave. The bell sent us to our seperate classes, but before we went our seperate ways, he stopped me.
"Anna, we need to talk." He had told me. Oh, no. Those we never a good set of words. They always ended with a sad ending. I tried to hid the hurt look on my face, but I was too late. "Don't worry. Its nothing bad. I just need to tell you something."
"Oh, ok. When?"
"Meet me in the school parking lot during 8th period." he smiled my favorite crooked smile, and walked away.
The tardy bell rung, and I hurridly walked into class. I was ready for a blow out, but thankfully Mr. Robbinson was writing notes on the board. I could see Aimee glaring at me as I headed to my seat next to her.
"I hope you get in trouble one day, Anna." she wispered at me.
"Why don't you mind your own damn buisness, Aimee." I hissed at her. I smiled when I saw the pouty face she made when I said that to her. I had never stood up for myself much, when it came to people like Aimee. I just ignored them, like everyone said to do. But from my expeiriences, that never worked. So it was about time I showed her that I wasn't playing her stupid childish games. I started copying down notes, and soon it was time for 8th period.
Why did he want to meet me now? He could've just waited till after school, but ofcourse, he had to drive his family home. Butterflies flew around in my stomach as I approached him. I laughed. I had knowed him for a few weeks, but I still got butterflies around him. He smiled, and pulled me towards himself. He looked down into my eyes, and pulled me tighter.
"Ok. So what did you want to talk about?" I asked him.
He gave me a quizzical look. "What? Can I not talk to you without a reason?"
"No." I said before lightly kissing him. He laughed.
"My family wants to meet you, Anna."
I hesitated. I knew this day was going to come sooner or later. "Oh." I said quietly.
"Anna. Theres nothing to worry about. They decided to play a game of basketball. 4 on 4. It'll be fun." he reasured me.
"I'm not worried. Just nervous. When do they wanna meet?"
"Uh, thats the problem. Today."
"Oh, wow. That soon huh?" I asked him.
"Yah. I'm sorry. It doesn't have to be today if you don't want..." I put a finger to his lips to silence him. I kissed his cheek.
"Today is fine. I'll be there after school. I just need to go home and get cleaned up."
"I'll pick you up."
"Theres no need." I told him. I didn't want Diana to know. She would be getting suspicious. She already knew about our relationship, but that didn't mean she liked it. She made that clear. She would have rather of me went out with Jacob, even after I told her my feeling weren't that way with him. And with her, she would've made a big deal about this afternoon.
"I insist." he said, just as the bell rung. I could see James with Damien coming out've the gym door. Soon after, Sarah and Davina showed up behind them. Lucian's grip tightened around my waist as they aproached.
"Well, what a surpise! I didn't think I would meet you until this afternoon!" The blonde one said. This was Sarah, I presumed.
"Yes. I'm Anna. Lucian was just informing me about our little get together." I replied back.
She hugged me. It was akward, for the fact that Lucian was still holding my waist. "I'm so glad to finally meet you. I hope I haven't scared you off." she teased.
"Oh, no. I'm glad to meet you too. I have heard so much about you all."
"And I you." The other boy said. This was Damien. He had a serious look on his face. "Lucian won't ever shut up about you. So you must be something special." He came forward and shoke my hand. "Its nice to meet you, Annastashia."
"Oh, just call me Anna. Its nice to meet you too, Damien."
"Wow, she already knows my name!" He said, smiling politly at me. He grabbed Sarah, and both went to sit in the car. A red haired girl stood before me. She was absolutly beautiful. Her eyes were lined with red eye shadow, and her lips were a shade of coral. This must be Davina, I thought. Lucian was right to say that her beauty was uncomparable. Most shapeshifters were. But she was different from her brothers and sisters.
"Hm." was all she said.
"You must be---"
"Davina, Dearest. You must be my brother's little pet."
"Davina." Lucian warned.
"Oh, hold it, Lucian. I was just teasing."
She held out her hand to me. "It must be annoying, having to always deal with his jealousy issues." She smiled.
"Oh, not at all. Good to finally meet you, Davina. Your brother wasn't kidding when he said how beautiful you were."
She laughed. "Oh dear. He must have you fooled if he said something like that about me." She turned towards Lucain. "Its not fair to lie, Lucian."
"I wasn't." he informed her.
This made her laugh. "Anyways, it was pleseant to finally meet you, Anna. Can't wait till this afternoon."
"Me neither." I agreed. Lucian walked me to my car, and kissed me goodbye. There was no need, since he would be at my house in only a few hours. He watched my drive off, before walking back to drive his family home.
My mother wasn't home when I pulled up. I was actually quite sad about this, for the fact that now I would have to leave a note about why I left. And ofcourse, she would still get mad when I got home. I ran up to my room, and began debating on an outfit. Once I had decided on a red top and jeans, I hopped into the shower. It was so relaxing to feel the warm water on my skin. I was heading to my room, when I almost screamed.
Jacob was sitting on the edge of my bed. He blushed, when he saw me in only my bath towel. I knew this wasn't a good idea, so I rushed in my room and closed my window so Lucian couldn't fly in.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him.
"I thought we could do something today." he replied. I knew this was Diana's idea. She was trying to stop me from going to Lucian's.
"Sorry, Jacob. But I already have plans."
"Yah, with your stupid boyfriend."
"Yah. And hes not stupid."
"He is to me." Jacob growled.
"Grow up, Jacob! God, your not my father. You can't stop me from seeing him." I hissed back.
"Wanna bet?" he threatened. At that same moment, I heard a knock on my window.
"Oh, great. Now your gonna be sorry." I said, reaching to unlock the window.
"I'm so scared." he replied.
Lucian jumped into my room at that exact moment. He looked at me, then at Jacob. His eyes feel quiltily onto the floor.
"Hi, Lucian." I kissed him, just to disqust Jacob. And it worked. "I was just telling my friend here about my date with you."
"Oh." he said.
Jacob stood up, and walked over to me. He grabbed my waist, and pulled me away from Lucian. This made Lucian jump, and glare back angrily.
"Keep your dirty paws off her." Lucian warned.
"I'll touch her whenever I feel like it." Jacob growled back at Lucian's warning.
"And I'll slice you damn..." I wiggled in between them, and pushed them apart.
"Boys, stop! Jacob, I demand you leave. Now." I ordered.
"I was here first." he said.
"And now you get to leave first." I said as I pushed him out my door. I shut it on his face, and locked it. He stomped downstairs. I could hear him complain to Diana. I went into the bathroom, and got dressed. Lucian smiled when I walked out.
"I like it." He said. "But I liked the towel better." he teased as he came forward and kissed me. I hit him playfully.
"Shutup. Lets get out of here already. I'd rather deal with your family than Diana." And with that, I ran downstairs and kissed diana goodbye. I didn't wait for me to complain. I instatly told her where I was going, and ran out the door. We started off in Lucian's car.
"So, tell me. Should I be scared?" I asked.
"Not unless your scared of getting beat." he teased.
"Oh, honey. I'm gonna kick your butt all up and down that court." I threatened. He laughed, and grabbed my hand. He looked at me, and smiled. We were soon at his house. Before I could get out, he was at my door, helping me.
"Oh, what a gentlemen." I said.
"Yes, ma'm." he said, trying to put a southern accent into his voice. I giggled at his failed attempt. "Lets go." he said, walking me towards his home. The Cromwell household, or more like mansion, stood before me. It was painted white, and was a rough 3 stories. I gasped when I walked into the home. It was beautiful. I was dumb-strucked. Everything was victorian, almost like my own home. It reminded me of some of the houses on that show "Cribs" on MTV. I could see his whole family before me. Sarah and Davina were sitting on the couch, watching CNN. James and Damien wrestled on the living room floor. The only ones missing were his mother and father.
"Oh, look! Ava, Anna and Lucian are here!" Sarah yelled in excitment. She ran to me, and hugged me. She smiled and went into the kitchen. Before long, she was back, following who I belived was Ava. She was also beautiful. She had blone hair, like Sarah. Her eyes were green, like Diana's. She smiled at me, and looked at Lucian, nodding her head once. She came up to me, and kissed my cheek.
Dear girl, you must be Anna. I'm Ava, Lucian's mother." she said.
"Yes, I know. Gosh, your beautiful." I said.
She blushed. "Thank you."
"Your welcome. I'm so glad to be here." I told her. She hugged me, right when a man walked into the room.
"Why didn't anyone tell me our guest had arrived?" he said. He smiled when he saw Ava around my shoulders. He came up behind her, and grabbed her waist, startling her. "This must be the beautiful Miss Anna that we have been hearing about." he smiled. "I'm Julian, Lucian's father."
"Yes. I'm Anna. Its nice to meet you, and your beautiful family. I'm blessed to be here." I replied, politly. I was already tired of the introductions. They all sounded so plain and boring.
"You think that now, but just wait till you get to know us. We're not all as kind and sweet as Lucian." he said. I couldn't help but laughed. He grinned at me, winking in Lucian's direction. I could feel the tension leave lucian's body. He looked at me, and kissed me softly on the forehead. "Let go play some basketball!" and everyone was outside. Lucian and I walked slowly, glad that the hard part was over. Now it was time for some butt kicking.
We seperated into two teams. One was devised of me, Sarah, James, and Julian. The other was of Lucian, Ava, Davina, and Damien. Our team was down 3 points in the beginning, but we quickly rose 6 points ahead. It was 36 to 32 in the last quarter. In the end, our team one. I laughed as I ran to Lucian. He picked me up, and kissed me.
"Told you I was going to kick your butt." I joked.
"Yah, I guess you did. You won." he said, in defeat.
We all went inside, and talked. I learned more about them all, and I was soon aquainted with them. I was sad when it was time to go. Sarah and Ava both kissed me on the cheek, and Julian hugged me. James soluted, which made me laughed. They all waved as me and Lucian drove back to my home. I didn't want to deal with diana, so I went up the backstairs. I kissed Lucian goodnight, and went into my room. I made sure he left. I didn't need him here everynight, even if I wanted him here. I jumped into bed, and immediantly went to sleep.
No. Lucian would never let them hurt me. Never let anyone hurt me for that matter. So I shouldn't be scared. I already knew James. James was like the big brother I never had. He always made me laugh, and I was completly comfortable around him. Mostly when these last few weeks had been a torment.
