Chapter 3

Andrew couldn't sleep. He was told at the last minute the adoption ritual would make him be over protective of Harry for a couple of days. But this was ridiculous. He was laying in bed and couldn't help but wondering if Harry was sleeping in a bed. It was bugging Andrew. He got up and put a robe on he found in a closet and went to go check on Harry.

Harry chose a room next to his which wasn't surprising since according to the goblin that performed the ritual, Harry would want to be as close to Andrew as possible for a couple of days. To Andrew's relief, Harry was soundly sleeping in his own bed. Andrew was worried that Harry would sleep in the closet or some other small space. Andrew hated the Dursleys. They were supposed to love him and instead treated him like dirt. For nearly 10 years, he was convinced that he was not worthy of anything. It took him 5 years to learn other wise. Now here he was in the past taking care of a younger version of himself who for all practical purposes is now his son.

He would do anything to make the boy he was looking at's life better. He already taken the first step by taking him away from the Dursleys and showing him that there are people who want him aren't something that exist only in his imagination. But now Andrew was thinking about the future. Voldemort isn't dead and with the exception of a handful of people, were convinced otherwise. If he or Harry said Voldemort was still alive, they would be laughed at until Voldemort shows himself in a public place. Andrew decided that should change.

Andrew talked with Dragnut briefly after the adoption ritual and Dragnut suggested paying the Daily Prophet to publish an article claiming Voldemort isn't dead. Just about every witch and wizard in England believed anything that was published in that newspaper, even if it was a lie. If Andrew couldn't sleep, he decided to write an article. He knew of the prophecy. While he was in the halls of prophecy, he remembered briefly seeing a sign indicating the prophecies in the aisle where the one about him and Voldemort was being stored being unfulfilled... Maybe if were to tie that in with the information he learned from the goblins on how Voldemort obtained immortality in the article, he could convince a lot of people. If he could get it done by tomorrow morning, he could drop it off at the Daily Prophet's office on Diagon Alley when him and Harry go shopping.

Andrew went down stairs and found some parchment paper, a quill, and some ink and began writing.

Flash Back

Andrew had let goblins through the Floo. Dragnut was one of them and came with the box with the jars of blood. He explained he needed to add Harry's blood to a jar to allow Harry into the Potter Family Vault since his blood hadn't been added yet. The other goblin was another goblin elder named Shankcrook. Andrew gave Dragnut the adoption papers and all was set for the adoption ritual. After being told of the side effects of the ritual, the proceeded. Shankcrook started muttering a spell when there was a flash of red light.

“/Something or things is interfering with the ritual. I cannot proceed until I know what is the source of the interference...” Shankcrook announced./

Snankcrook took out a strange looking device from his pocket and waved it around both Andrew and Harry. Shankcrook then looked at the device which now had writing on one side of it.

“/It as we feared. Tom Riddle, or Lord Voldemort as he likes to be known, has been using a forbidden ritual to obtain immortality. He has placed pieces of his own soul in the both of you. You are both horcruxes.” Shankcrook spoke./

“/What's a horcrux?” Andrew asked./

“/A horcrux is something that holds a piece of someone's soul. It could be something alive, dead, or inanimate making them hard to spot. People make them to obtain immortality. As long as a piece of your soul exists outside your own body, your own soul can never cross over no matter what happens to your body. If your body were to die, you would survive as a gaseous black cloud that can wonder around and inhabit others' bodies./

“/Horcruxes are a goblin invention but the knowledge of how to make them was leaked centuries ago. In order to make one, one must kill another being. Such an act would tear your soul and using a spell, you can take the torn piece and store it outside of your body thus creating a horcrux. Goblins outlawed the creation of horcruxes long ago but the knowledge of how to make them still exists thanks to dark witches and wizards writing it down./

“/Most goblin elders feared that Riddle had been making horcruxes. The more of them you make, the more snake like your physical appearance gets. By judging by his appearance prior to his downfall in 1981, we fear he may have made at least five. But I doubt he would want to turn people into horcruxes. He must have made you to horcruxes by accident. I can see how that could happen given how many he had at the time he disappeared.” Shankcrook explained./

Andrew remembered a chat he had with Professor Dumbledore after the Chamber of Secrets incident. Dumbledore said if he wasn't mistaken Voldemort accidentally gave him some of his powers. Could Dumbledore have known that he was a horcrux?

“/Is there anyway to get rid of the pieces of Voldemort's soul out of us?” Andrew asked. Andrew figured that if Dumbledore knew, Dumbledore would have done something but Andrew felt he should ask the goblin anyways./

“/Yes. We goblins don't tell outsiders a lot about our magic. Occasionally a spell we developed like the one to make horcruxes is leaked. The spell to make something not be a horcrux is one that hasn't been leaked. All witches and wizards that have heard of horcruxes believe the only way to make something no longer be a horcrux is to damage the item beyond the ability to repair using magic. In the case of a living thing such as the two of you, that would be to kill it.” Shankcrook answered, chuckling./

Andrew realized then why Dumbledore didn't do anything. As far as Dumbledore knew, Andrew would have to die and Dumbledore would never do anything to kill him. Andrew looked at Harry and Harry looked scared and Andrew didn't blame him. Who at that age wouldn't be if told all that?

“/But fortunately, there is a spell we goblins have made to safely make something no longer be a horcrux. There is some side effects you should be aware of. Since your own souls have been in close proximity to Riddle's soul for so long, you may occasionally cause you to enter Riddle's mind and visa versa though if I recall, the Potter family rings if I recall have been incanted to protect their wearer's thoughts. There should be book, most likely in the Potter Family Vault that will say so. Anyways, you may sense his emotions as well as see and hear things he does during those periods of time. The other is that two of you will both be parslemouths for the rest of your lives because Riddle and his ancestors were as well.” Shankcrook continued./

“/And since he had used the two of you in an immoral way, threw Rite of Vengeance, you can claim all possessions and titles Riddle inherited though don't expect to acquire any gold. Riddle's ancestors were financially irresponsible and never listened to their account managers. They ended up dirt poor by the 17th century. The only thing you can get is the Slytherin seat on the Wizengamont.” Dragnut added./

Andrew thought about it. He already had five seats on the Wizengamont: Genber, Nandrob, Potter, Peverell, and Maroa. He knew once Sirius was free, he would be brought to trail before the Wizengamont. There were a lot of people who were convinced that Sirius was guilty and he wasn't sure how close the vote in the Wizengamont would be. There would always be those who will refuse the truth when it is in front of them. Having one more seat could swing the vote into Sirius' favor if Harry could find a person for it.

“/I'll claim it.” Andrew answered. He didn't care if the seat's name was Slytherin. If he could use it to help Sirius, he would./

“/Anyways, to remove Riddle's soul from the both of you. You have my permission to tell others of this spell. Exrosiziomous Partilus. Exrosiziomous Partilus.” Shankcrook explained waving his hand at both Andrew and Harry. Andrew felt a strange cooling feeling and saw a black mist coming out of both Harry and himself. In a few moments, the mist dissipated./

“/Now that is done. There was also some kind of spell I'm not familiar with placed on the two of you that's also interfering with the ritual. I'm going to attempt remove that one.” Shankcrook explained pointing his hand at both of them./

“/Now that I have removed what is interfering with the ritual, I will attempt to perform the ritual again.” Shankcrook said. A few moments later and some odd hand gestures later, Shankcrook announced the ritual was successfully performed./

Dragnut then added Harry's blood to a jar and when was done turned to Andrew. “The book on the Potter family secrets should be in your family vault. If you stop by Gringott's tomorrow, we can hunt for it in the vault. I don't remember its exact location but I have a rough idea where it would be found. If they do indeed shield minds from unwanted intrusions, it maybe wise to give Harry the next-in line ring.” Dragnut said.

“/Alright. I'm planning to do some shopping on Diagon Alley tomorrow. I'll stop by Gringott's while I'm there. At least we know that Voldemort is alive.” Andrew said./

“/Yes. A pity hardly anyone believes that. /We goblins have no love of him after his followers murdered an entire family of goblins in cold blood.” Dragnut complained.

“/We knew he didn't die that night as that we weren't informed that any wealth or titles needed to be transferred. Even if he died and left no will, the Inheritance Office would have been notified and they weren't.” Shankcrook added./

“/If you knew he wasn't dead, then why didn't you tell anyone?” Andrew asked, shocked. The goblins were convinced Voldemort wasn't dead but didn't tell anyone what they knew. If they did, all those problems of people not believing him and Dumbledore wouldn't have happened./

“/The Ministry is run by people who believe Humans are superior to all other living things. They wouldn't listen.” Shankcrook complained./

“/Maybe you can convince them. Write an article and give it to the Daily Prophet. Everyone believes what the Prophet says. If you pay the Prophet enough, they will put the article on the front page of both the morning and evening editions.” Dragnut sarcastically said though Andrew thought that was a good idea even though he had no experience writing something for a newspaper before./

End Flashback

Andrew stayed up and wrote for a few hours. It wasn't perfect but hopefully it could convince the world Voldemort wasn't dead. He went back upstairs and went to back to bed.

Chapter Notes

The adoption is done. Next chapter, Andrew and Harry spend some time together and hopefully Dumbledore's entrance into the story. This story after Dumbledore makes his entrance is going to take a different course then Second Life. Dumbledore in this story is not a person who is doing illegal things. He did not place Harry with the Dursleys against the Potters' will. He did not put any charms on any people to keep his actions secrete. You are going to see what kind of person Dumbledore is in this story after he realizes Harry is no longer at the Dursleys and pays them a visit.

Also, I hid a little “easter egg” in this chapter. I only told one person what it is. Good luck trying to find it (it should be easier for those who have known me for years).
