Rain clouds appear
Seemingly out of nowhere
Rain falls onto the ground
And I wake up to the sound
Of the puddles calling
"It's raining, it's pouring,
your mother is snoring"
The call to me to come and play
And I just can't resist
The sweet sweet scent of fun
Splish splash split splat
Patter patter on the wall
Amy Amy come and play
Before the gray turns into day
It's OK, we won't bite
Open the door, feel the wind
Oh how wonderful it feels to be free
Free of all chores
And free of all bores
Everything but whats in front of me
The waters deep, but mother's asleep
She won't mind if I only go up to my feet
Amy Amy, she won't mind
We're not going to hurt you
Please come deeper into thine
What the heck, its only water
What could possibly be beneath those still waves
Up to my knees I go and then I know
This is what its like with snow!
And this is much much funner that food
Beneath me the water moves
But still and calm above the moons
The sun is gone behind the clouds
Shh Amy, be not loud
Who are you kind lady?
"I am the water that you are in
I am the one you drink from a tin
I am the one that saved you today
I am the one that helps you to play
But I am not always kind
Do not splash or kick at me
If only you knew you would agree
Do not yell or curse at me
You will end up far beneath me
But it is not so bad
Many before you have done as I ask
Many of you have done thy task
Please sit down for I will tell
A story for you, so listen well
And this is how it is;
I was once a lady, as pretty as can be
And all the ladies were envious of me
They called me names and kicked at thee
Until I lost all of my beauty
But God rescued me
He turned me into the water
So that I cause people to falter
And look up into the sky
And thank the lord they shall not die
For only good comes from him
After I cry a rainbow appears
Such beauty shall never be, my dear
And God promised me that whatever may happen
There shall not be a flood, or a mighty sea dragon
For those are evil things
I will cause plants to grow and grow
And people will all come to know
Without me they are hopeless
And nothing is better than topaz
For I help the living to live
And so you see how great I am
And how greatly low are them
But you my dear may stay with me
And fall into a deep deep sleep
It will only hurt for a bit"
But I could not deal with that
It was not what my mother would ask
She needed me and I know that now
And now I ask why when where and how
So I ran back into my warm warm house
But I had forgotten not to kick
And soon the lady came up with a trick
She flooded the house so that we ran outside
My tiny sisters and brothers and I
But mother did not come out
Bright colors flashed
Ran into the house
Came out with mother in their arms
But, alas, there was as much hope for her as a horse with no barn
I was sent away without my mother
And ever since I ask myself,
"Why bother?"
Seemingly out of nowhere
Rain falls onto the ground
And I wake up to the sound
Of the puddles calling
"It's raining, it's pouring,
your mother is snoring"
The call to me to come and play
And I just can't resist
The sweet sweet scent of fun
