“Blair you have a visitor” Cami said poking her head around the door of Blair’s bedroom. Since Blair had been released from the hospital the day before Cami had moved into the guest room for the time being while Frank moved into his new Loft with Jay in a building down the road from Gerard’s.
Blair looked up from the comic she’d been reading to see Jay standing with a smirk in the doorway, he wandered over to her bed taking a seat as she placed her comic on her nightstand beside her bed.
“How was school?” Blair as stretching as Jay pulled her school work from his messenger bag and dumped it on her lap.
“Oh the usual, Bella and Kody dry humping against his locker, Dee and Nate screwing in the changing rooms after P.E.” he said nonchalantly causing Blair to grin. “How was your day in bed?” Jay said as he pulled a face.
“Well I woke at 10, got up showered, watched tv for a while took a nap, had some lunch, then read a comic then you got here” Blair said. “I’m desperate to get out of here for a walk, I feel fine. I mean I’m a little sore but I need fresh air” she said desperately.
“Fair enough” Jay said as he slid off her bed. “You put your shoes on and I’ll go tell Cami that we’re gonna grab some Starbucks” Jay said before wandering out of the room. Blair managed to find her shoes shoved under her bed and pulled them on her feet. She stood up grabbing a purple hoodie which had been thrown on her desk. She slipped it over her head and walked out of her room to see Jay waiting.
“Your mom is cool with us going out, just we aren’t allowed to take forever” Jay said with a shrug of his shoulders. Blair nodded following him out the door, they made their way out of the building and down the street as Jay’s phone beeped. Blair heard him sigh and look at the text he’d received, she watched as he deleted it and put his phone back in his pocket.
“I wish she’d leave me alone” he muttered quietly causing Blair to look at him.
“Who are you talking about?” Blair said pulling a pack of cigarette’s from her hoodie pocket, she offered one to Jay who gladly took it lighting it taking a long drag.
“Candace broke up with me Monday and she’s been texting me ever since” he said with a shrug. Blair looked at him strangely as she slipped a cigarette between her lips lighting it and taking a drag.
“Why is she texting you if she dumped you?” Blair said in confusion as she scrunched up her nose against the cold air.
“Trying to make me jealous or something, she dumped me because she wanted to ‘broaden her horizons’ which was proven to me as I left her dorm room I saw some jock guy knock on her door and well you can guess the rest” he said with another shrug of his shoulders.
“So she cheated and now she’s regretting it?” Blair asked looking at Jay.
“Seems that way, I don’t really care. She was getting to me anyway; we wouldn’t have lasted that much longer” he said as he held open the door for Blair as she walked into Starbucks. Blair nodded in thanks as she found them a seat while Jay when to go order. Blair looked around the coffee house, she saw a group of guys sitting in the corner they couldn’t have been more than 18 yrs old any of them, most of the guys could see her. One who was wearing a cap poked his friend in the arm then pointed at Blair; the guy who had been poked turned his head around his mouth curving into an embarrassed smile. It was Tyler from the party, he got up and slowly walked over to Blair sitting down opposite her.
“How have you been?” Tyler asked looking at her anxiously.
“Fine” she muttered. “Look you should leave” she said quietly looking up at him.
“Why?” he asked slightly hurt.
“Because” a voice said from behind him. “If you don’t I’ll make you” Jay said leaning over Tyler’s shoulder and placing Blair’s coffee in front of her. “There you go Bear” he said as he glared at Tyler.
“Ok I’ll go” he said getting up. “Here Blair, text me or call me when you get the chance” he said slipping a napkin with his number across the table to he. Blair picked it up shoving it on her pocket as Jay’s eyes shot daggers at Tyler til he walked back over to his friends and left with them.
“He has some nerve” Jay said to Blair as he sat down and took a sip of his coffee.
“Why do you guys have to be so harsh on him? It was an accident.” Blair said quietly as she sipped her coffee not making eye contact.
“It was his fault you nearly died” Jay said as he watched Blair sip her coffee. “That would have ruined heaps of people’s lives. Killed them inside” he said with a look of sincerity and a hint of sadness in his voice. “Just promise me you’ll watch yourself where this guy is concerned” Jay said seriously looking at Blair. “I couldn’t bare to see you get hurt” he said staring at her intensely.
Blair felt a shiver run down her spine as Jay looked at her. There was something about the way he spoke that made her feel uncomfortable in a good way. She just couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
“So what’s it like having her back at home?” Frank asked Gerard as they entered the 10th furniture store they had been into that day, looking for furniture for Franks new Loft.
“Weird, I mean it’s different than I imagined” Gerard said as Frank looked at a black leather armchair.
“How so?” Frank said distractedly as he looked at the furniture.
“It’s like she isn’t the same person” Gerard said feeling those words fitted it right.
“Well of course she isn’t she’s been missing for 10 years” Frank said with a roll of his eyes as he continued to peruse the furniture in the store.
“Yeah but she’s remembered everyone else. Why not me?” Gerard asked with a whine.
Frank rolled his eyes as he sat down on a king sized double.
“Look I don’t know okay Gee?” Frank said slightly agitated. “She’ll remember when she does” he said as he bounced himself up and down on the bed testing the mattress. “Maybe it’s flashbacks that set her off” Frank suggested as he looked at the price on the bed.
“Maybe you’re right. She did mention to me that she had one before she walked into Blair’s room at the hospital.” He said as Frank turned to look at queen sized double bed for Jay.
“Maybe she just needs a flashback to happen with you, like a pivotal moment in your relationship" Frank said as he checked the price on the queen sized bed. Gerard took a seat beside Frank.
“Maybe your right” He said quietly contemplating Frank’s suggestion.
“I come baring gifts” Jake said as Cami stepped aside to let him into the apartment, she followed him down the hallway into the kitchen as he dropped a bag on the island in the kitchen before grabbing himself a cup of coffee.
“What did you bring?” Cami said as she opened the bag pulling out an old converse shoe box and a few t-shirts. Cami looked at the t-shirts first and smiled.
“My old MCR band tees?” she said looking at them and smiling running her hands over the faded shirts. Jake nodded smiling sipping his coffee as she folded them placing them on the table. She picked up the show box opening it, she pulled out a pile of envelopes tied together by string along with a few old photos.
“Where did you find these?” Cami asked as she flipped through the envelopes, each one was addressed to her at this apartment. She opened one of the envelopes and looked at the date on the letter. It was 10 years old. Her eyes widened as she read what the letter said, before she put it back in the envelope. She flipped the envelope over looking at the return address, her hand stiffened as she shoved the letters back in the shoe box.
“Oh you gave them to me for safe keeping a few days before you went missing” Jake said as he finished off his cup of coffee.
Cami nodded as Jake went over to the sink and rinsed his cup out, he walked over to Cami pecking her on the cheek.
“Love to stay and help you remember, but I promised Adam I’d go with him on TRL today” he said hugging her quickly. “I’ll call you later ‘kay?” he said. Cami just nodded silently watching him walk out of the apartment. Cami walked into the guest bedroom carrying the shoe box with her, filled with envelopes and photos. Cami grabbed the letters shoving them into an overnight bag along with a few changes of clothes. She checked she had everything on her before quickly scribbling a note to Gerard; she left the note on top of the shoebox. She raced out the door hailing the first cab that came along.
