SCENE SEVEN.

(Lights up. Nadine and Walker are at a coffee shop. Nadine is carrying two drinks and is about to walk off. Walker is sitting at a cafe table in a chair, drinking his coffee. Lights up, Nadine is ready to leave)

WALKER. Hey, Nadine.
NADINE. What?
WALKER. How are you, on this beautiful day?
NADINE. Fine. How're you?
WALKER. Pretty good. How's the new girl?
NADINE. She has a name.
WALKER. What is it? I can't remember.
NADINE. Diane.
WALKER. That's what I said.
NADINE. What?
WALKER. How is she?
NADINE. You're so immature sometimes. (beat) She's nice. Interesting.
WALKER. She's beautiful.
NADINE. I never expected you to use the word "beautiful".
WALKER. Why?
NADINE. I just never thought you could find beauty in someone. You strike me as the kind of person who would use the word 'hot'.
WALKER. Cynic.
NADINE. I'm not a cynic.
WALKER. You know what, Nadine?
NADINE. What?
WALKER. You're "hot".
NADINE. Very funny.
