Holly Evans and the Spiral Path

Well it looks like this is going to be a "we can't trust Dumbledore" story. At least it's been fairly subtle about it so far. Some people get completely carried away with the dumble-bashing.Author's response
While there is cause for Holly to distrust Professor Dumb, I actually included this scene as a criticism of the book- Harry is called to AD's office and the whole conversation amounts to "Gee, look at Fawkes! Now, is there anything you want to tell me?" "Uh, no sir, not really." What the hell kind of meeting is that? AD doesn't even take the time to ask leading questions, and Harry doesn't take the opportunity to ask him anything about his parents, the Chamber or how to handle the fact that he killed a professor last year and this 'safest place in Britain' is getting more dangerous by the hour. It was a non-scene.

Deeper and deeper we go! This is deep and dark and fantastic writing and do you have awards?Author's response
No awards, but no death threats either. I think most people who enjoy the story would still acknowledge that the subject matter, tone, and delivery are not suited to the tastes of a broad audience.

I agree, the writing isn't exactly what broader audiences are looking for, and I did almost quit during the first couple of chapters, but I continued because what you presented plot-wise was actually really intriguing. I like that the same events have occurred in both Holly's life and Harry's "original" life, but Holly is handling them much differently from how Harry had. More... intelligently I believe. While at first it had seemed a bit odd, now that I understand Holly's character a bit better, I don't feel that it is out of character as much as I had before. I actually think that I might be able to get along with Holly quite nicely had she been a real person.
I also enjoy the relationship that you have between Holly and Hermione. It's a close sisterhood, but you can also see something more behind there. I wish that Ron was more involved, but honestly between these two girls, they've got chiz covered. They are both intelligent, capable, and where one might lose focus, the other has her back. Who needs a trio when you have a pair dynamic like H2 (H-squared in case that didn't come out straight)Holly Evans and the Spiral Path

Oh, by the way, I can almost swear that Severus is Holly's dad. He's the only one I can see Lily ever having an affair with outside of James.
