“You like him, don’t you?”

Brendon looked at Deacon, who was sending a playful smile his way from across the room, from his spot in Joe’s arms, on the new vampire’s lap. He gave a small twitch of a headshake and turned his attention back to the movie that he was watching with Joe, Deacon, Andy, and Patrick, while Pete was off with Gabe doing some research on a group of rogue vampires. He shifted in his spot, drawing the attention of the mentioned red head, and got comfortable even though his thigh still bothered him a little from the training the other day.

“Yes you do, I see the way you look at him, you can’t lie to me, I know it all, remember?” Deacon grinned as he turned his eyes back to the movie.

“Deac, stop trying to play match maker,” Brendon replied, trying to pay attention to the movie, “I’m not into him, he’s not into me, so stop, okay?”

“You’re only lying to yourself you know…”

Brendon rolled his eyes and shifted again when the dull throb in his leg returned, making him uncomfortable. “Sure I am, I think you’re delusional, Deacon.”

“Hey…”

Brendon turned his head to look at Andy, who was sitting next to him, his voice breaking his attention away from the movie and Deacon. When he looked at Andy, he found himself staring into the blue-green depths that looked like a dark blue in the lighting of the room, and he found the urge to lean in and close the distance; an urge that confused the Hell out of him. “Yeah?”

“I’m going to get a drink, do you want me to bring you back something from the stash?” Andy offered, his eyes darting down to the lips that were calling his name, before he raised them back up to Brendon’s eyes.

Brendon caught the movement of his eyes and tried to still the pounding in his chest as he managed a slow nod. “Could you please?”

Andy smiled as he gave a nod and stood up, looking at Deacon and Joe, who had looked at him as he stood. “Do you guys want anything?” When they shook their heads, he looked to Patrick. “Did you want anything Patrick?”

“I’ll come with you, actually,” he answered as he stood up from his recliner, stretching out. “I don’t want to ask you to carry food and drinks.” He smiled as he walked with Andy into the kitchen area and started going through the fridge as Andy grabbed a packet of blood from the stash and emptied into a cup before he put it in the microwave. “Warm blood?” Patrick asked, lifting his brow as Andy set the time on the microwave and hit the start button.

Andy gave a shrug as he leaned in by Patrick, and grabbed a drink for himself. “He told me once that he preferred it warm,” he answered as he opened the drink and took a long sip of it, lifting a brow in mocking return of the brow Patrick had lifted at him. He swallowed the liquid and sealed the bottle of water. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?”

Patrick shook his head and took out his phone, texting a quick message so he wouldn’t air out Andy’s business since the vampires were within hearing range. He handed his phone to Andy, who shook his head and sighed before he looked at the message. “He could warm it up himself, no one told you to do it for him.”

Andy narrowed his eyes slightly at Patrick and erased the message before he typed in his own message and set the phone on the counter. Grabbing the cup of blood from the microwave, and his own drink, he left Patrick alone in the kitchen area and headed back to the living room.

Patrick sighed and grabbed his phone, reading over the message. “It’s called being nice to company, Patrick.” He got his snack, a small bowl of chips, and headed back into the living room area, sitting in his recliner, in time to see the small look on Andy’s face and Brendon’s face as Brendon took the cup from Andy. He looked to Deacon, to see the vampire grinning at the two before he turned his icy blue eyes to Patrick and smiled, wiggling his eyebrows at the two. Patrick smiled and shook his head before he looked back to the movie.

“So, what did you think of the look?”

Deacon’s voice startled Patrick, who was working on the group’s car, making him jump and hit his head on the raised hood with a yelp of surprise, and then another of pain as he grabbed the back of his head and ducked away from the hood. He whimpered softly as Deacon moved over and gently moved his hand out of the way, to remove the hat covering his head and inspected the wounded area to make sure he was okay. “You can’t just sneak up on me like that,” Patrick whimpered, pouting, “I’m still human, you know.”

Deacon gave Patrick an affectionate smile and shook his head. “I know, I know, and I’m very sorry for sneaking up on you, I thought you had heard me coming.” he let go of Patrick’s head and ruffled his hair, away from the spot. “You’ll survive, no blood loss to be found.”

Patrick grumbled as he pulled his hat back on, rubbing the wound through the hat. “It’s going to be one hell of a lump later, though,” he pouted as he looked at Deacon. “So, what were you saying when you gave me my heart attack?”

Deacon smiled and leaned on the side of the car, looking in to see what Patrick was working on. “I was asking what you thought of the look those two were giving each other.” He frowned when he saw the loose hose. “Mind some help? Dad was into cars, so I could help you out if you want.”

Patrick gave him a confused look. “What look are you talking about?” He leaned back down, looking for the problem that he still hadn’t found yet. He was never into mechanics, so it was do and learn for him since he was the only one willing to get his hands covered in grease, or the stink of car fluids so they could get from place to place. “And if you want to help, I won’t mind. I actually don’t know anything about cars, I just do what I think looks right and hope I don’t fuck it up.”

“Aw, Trick,” Deacon chuckled and nudged his arm before he stood up and went to the toolbox Patrick had, looking for the tool he needed to secure the hose he had seen. “I mean the look they shared when Andy gave Brendon the cup of blood during the movie. I know you saw it, because I saw you looking when I saw it too.” He found what he needed and walked back over, leaning down where he had been before and reached in, fixing the problem of the loose hose.

Patrick leaned over so he could get a better angle to see what Deacon was doing, giving a sigh of slight irritation, at himself, not Deacon, for not being able to see that. Then again, he hadn’t been looking at it from over there, he barely had thought of looking under the hood from different angles. “Thanks, Deacon,” he said as he took the tool and headed over to the toolbox, setting it back. “And yeah, I know what you’re talking about now. I don’t know what to think of it, really…”

“I think they’re developing something for each other,” Deacon said as he continued looking under the hood, trying to see if there was anything else he might be able to help with. “Brendon especially, with how much he keeps an eye on Andy with that protective glint in his eyes. You don’t watch someone like that unless you have something for them outside of just feelings of friendship.”

Patrick shook his head and shrugged as he watched Deacon move around to the other side of the car, trying to see how the taller male looked at things, hoping he could learn a little. “I don’t think Pete would let Brendon come around more and more if he knew they had something for each other,” Patrick said, hating to say it himself. “He already doesn’t like the fact that he comes around as it is since he used to be a Dandy for Beckett. He only tolerates it because of you and him being friends, and he is seriously unhappy with him and Andy training alone together after the other day. He’s already pushing buttons even though he’s not trying to, and I hate to say it, but I think it would be better if they didn’t get together.”

Deacon frowned as his brows came together. “We all know what I have to say about Pete’s opinions…” He grumbled as be brushed his hawk to the side. “Need I remind you that he thought he knew everything about me until he saw for himself that he didn’t? I think Brendon would be a good match for Andy, I already know that Andy is the kind of guy that Brendon would go for.”

“Then you need to talk to Pete on this one,” Patrick said as he stood up and stretched. “Or let them deal with it themselves.”

“If you didn’t have to figure in the ‘Pete Factor’,” Deacon paused to hold up his fingers and use the for air quotations, “what would you think of it?”

Patrick gave a defeated sigh and looked at Deacon over the edge of his glasses. “I would think it would be a good match.”
