“Aw fuck!” Candy cursed.

I didn’t have to ask her what was wrong because I could tell by the puttering sound that her bike was making and that my bike was starting to make as well. We’d been riding for the past hour straight and at full speed. Now we were running out of gas.

We pulled to the side and put our kickstands down before collapsing on the dusty ground.

“I cannot believe that we’re stuck here because our fucking bikes decided to die.” I grumbled pushing the visor of my helmet up.

“I know! I filled these damn things last night!” Candy replied doing the same to her helmet.

We sat there a few more minutes when suddenly there was a screeching sound. I looked down the road and saw a Trans Am speed our way.

“Dracs!” Candy yelled but I grabbed her arm.

“Wait…on the front…they have the spider on the hood of their car. They’re Killjoys.” I replied.

Candy opened her mouth to reply but before she could the Trans Am stopped on the road and four guys jumped out. One had a yellow mask over his eyes and cherry red hair. The shorter one next to him wore a Frankenstein mask while two guys followed him in helmets, the skinnier of the two had the words ‘GOOD LUCK’ written on the visor.

I raised my hand to say high when suddenly the one in the Frankenstein mask had my hands pinned behind my back. I turned and saw Candy lying on the ground twitching, a stun gun in the plain helmeted guy’s hand and GOOD LUCK sitting on her back.

“What the fuck are you doing?” I asked.

“Pssh…did you really think that we were going to fall for your little plan?” Cherry head asked.

“Plan? What plan? We didn’t have a fucking plan.” I replied.

“Oh please! We’ve seen Dracs try to pass off as Killjoys before! You two actually got pretty damn close except for one thing! Only Dracs ride bikes!” Cherry head snapped.

“Are you nuts! Do we look like Dracs?!? We. Are. Killjoys!” I spat.

“You have no idea how many times we’ve heard that little girl.” the masked guy purred in my ear.

“She’s not lying! So what if we ride bikes? Those are our bikes from before we came out here! We’ve been riding them since we were eighteen!” Candy yelled from where she was pinned to the ground.

“Do you really think we don’t know you’re lying? We’re not stupid.” GOOD LUCK said.

“Fuck this.” I sighed.

There was no way that we were going to get them to believe us. So I did the only thing I could think of. I moved my foot back and stomped as hard as I could on Frankenstein’s foot.

He let out a howl but none the less released me. I grabbed the switchblade from my boot and pressed it to Cherry head’s throat and snatched the gun from the holster on his leg, pointing it at Frankenstein.

While I did all this Candy had taken the opportunity to throw GOOD LUCK off of her. She gave a swift punch to the plain helmeted guy’s throat with a little help from her brass knuckles and now was pointing her gun straight at GOOD LUCK.

“Look I don’t know who the fuck you think you are but I know for a fact that I’m no Drac and I’m HIGHLY insulted that you’d compare me to one of those pieces of trash. Now you can believe me or I can cut you’re pretty little pale throat in a flash. This thing has enough experience fighting Dracs so don’t think I don’t know how to use it.” I spat.

I saw Cherry visibly swallow as he realized that I was serious, “Fine. I believe you. Just put the blade away.” he said.

I looked to Candy who gave a small nod before uncocking her gun and holstering it. I lowered my blade and gave Cherry head back his gun before flipping the blade closed, tucking it back into my boot.

“So what are you two doing out here?” GOOD LUCK asked pushing his visor up.

“We had our hideout invaded by Dracs. We were running from them when our bikes ran out of gas.” Candy replied.

“Well we’ve got gas if that’s what you need.” the plain helmet replied.

“Really? That would be awesome.” I replied.

He walked over and grabbed two tanks from the trunk of the car and brought them over. Candy and I took one each and filled our bikes. Once they were full we handed the containers back to him.

“Well we’d better get back on the road. We’ve gotta find a place to set up camp again.” Candy said as we climbed back onto our bikes.

“You know it’s almost dark right?” Frankenstein asked.

“Really?” I asked and glanced at my watch, he was right.

“Yeah. Look you’re never gonna find somewhere tonight. Why don’t you come back to our camp? As an apology for earlier.” GOOD LUCK said.

“We really couldn’t. I’m sure we’ll find someplace.” I replied.

“No. We insist. Besides the Draculoids hunt at night. You’ll be safe with us. C’mon.” Cherry said.

Candy and I exchanged a silent glance, “Okay. Thanks and we’ll be out first thing in the morning.” I promised.

“Well then lets get going. You can follow us on your bikes its not far from here.” Frankenstein replied.

Candy and I climbed onto our bikes and followed the four guys in their Trans Am. We rode for about fifteen minutes before we pulled into an old diner. However the ‘N’ and ‘R’ were missing.

“Die?” I asked as I climbed off my bike.

“Yeah we thought it was pretty funny.” Frankenstein laughed and the lot of us headed inside.

Once inside I tossed my bag onto and empty chair along with my jacket. I then pulled off my helmet, pulling the hair tie out of my hair, shaking my head slightly letting the colored curls fall freely. Bending down I began to sort through the clothes in my bag to find a hoodie too pull on.

Someone tapped my shoulder. I stood up and turned to see Cherry standing there.

“Do you want-” but the words died on his lips as he looked at me.

“Do I want what?” I asked.

He didn’t say anything else just stared at me, “Uh…hello? Earth to…uh…person with red hair?” I said realizing that I hadn’t yet learned his name.

Finally after a few more moments he seemed to snap out of it but what came next I never expected.

“Cassie?”

I froze. Cassie was my real name. No knew my real name out her except for Candy. She was the only one that I trusted to know my name and it was the same for her. Her real name was Lissa.

“How do you know my name?” I asked.

“I can’t believe it’s you!” he said and grabbed the sides of my face pulling it close to his so he could get a better look.

“What the fuck are you doing you weirdo?!?” I asked shoving him away.

“Cassie! It’s me!” he said.

“Really? Oh my god I can’t believe it! Someone I’ve never met before! Oh my god I missed you!” I replied sarcastically.

Suddenly he turned on his heel and walked into the back room where the other guy were.

“Seriously?!?” I yelled and took off after him.

“What’s going on?” Candy asked following me but I ignored her.

“What the hell is going on?!?” I demanded as I shoved the swinging door open but I stopped as I saw all four guys and a little kid I hadn't see before standing there without their masks/helmets.

The next thing I remembered was the dark overtaking my eyes and the ground rushing up to meet me.
