XGERARDXGERARDXGERARDX
6:33 A.M.
By 6:30 Ray had arrived.
"Good Lord, what happened?!?" Ray asked, immediately checking the boys' pulse. Then looking at
the unconscious man, probably finding his hygiene quite gross.
"I... I-I didn't mean too..." I stuttered.
"What exactly happened?" Ray asked calmly.
"I..." I had to tell him. He deserved to know, right? "Well, to start, that middle age slump is
just knocked out..."

Ray turned the knob carefully, and kicked the apartment door open. He had the other boy slumped
over his shoulder (still unconscious), and I had Mikey on mine, his glasses securly in my pocket.
We both walked in the apartment, as I shut the door behind me with my foot.
Ray led the way past the kitchen and living room, down the hall, and opened the door to the spare
bedroom. It was a tiny room, nothing else in it but a small dresser and two double beds that fit
just barely.
Ray set the boy on one, and I set Mikey down on the other. He left the room for a moment, and
then returned with a plug-in fan. "Open the window, will you?" he asked as he tried to find an
outlet.
I did as I was told. I turned around, and Ray was trying to position the fan on both of them. I
took the moment to carefully place Mikey's glasses on the dresser.
"There," Ray said when he was happy with the fan.
"Why do we need these again?" I asked.
"During the transformation, the heart speeds up, until it just wears out, turning them. If the
body gets too over-heated, the victim is killed," Ray said matter-of-factly. I gulped.
"... Will they be okay?" I asked nervously, not planning on either of them to die.
"Well, you probaby know as well as I do," he told me sighing. "But, based on your story, they
should be fine. We'll keep an eye on them."

I was sitting on the couch, watching TV. Ray had gone out to do some buisness or something, and I
was left nervously waiting for them to wake up. If they wake up...
But that was just it. What if they woke up? Sure, I'm Mikey's only living relative, but once he
finds out what he is, what'll stop him from leaving and going out on his own? And the other
boy... What if he regrets his desicion?
A gentle voice broke me out of my thoughts. "Gee?" I turned around, finding a confused Mikey
standing by the kitchen.
